In fact, you could just have named this thread "Sports only Norwegians care about" Pfft

Winter sports are huge in Germany, at least when it comes to media coverage Wink

Foreign athletes I support(ed) are (obviously) Ole Einar, the ski jump oldies Malysz (sadly retired) and Kasai (still around??) and the funny Didier Cuche (sadly retired) with his perfected ski flip Grin

Furthermore, my grandparent's neighbors are close relatives to biathlete Michael Greis, so I'm obviously a bit biased there Pfft

Your neighbors are relatives to Michi Greis! Awesome Grin

Those three Olympic gold medals are heavy, I tell you! Pfft

Sadly though I don't think there will be a fourth Sad

My favourites Wink

It is spelled Hermann Maier. Pfft
And anybody reminds his unhuman crash from Nagano back in 1998 (i suppose many of you were too young to watch it live)?
That was almost ski jumping what he did there.

I'll be back

Ohh, you have right, the another MAier is MAyer then (Christian, also retired).

I watched the NAgano Olympics, that jump its nice like Kazuyoshi Funakis winning jump in ski jumping (were Noriaki KAsai also participated) Wink

I hate Petter Northug for the braking he did during the world cup in Holmenkollen a year ago

Well the start of the season for cross country and Biathlon is closing in. But alpine is still the only sport on.

André Myhrer () won the second event in Levi, Finland, followed by last years victor Marcel Hirscher () and Jens Byggmark ().

A great day for Swedes indeed Grin

Anybody have been watching Biathlon in recent weeks? Czechs are in very good form so far, Gabriela Soukalova is the revelation of the season and Gerekova and Kuzmina also doing great for Slovakia. Smile
With men, Moravec also great with 2nd in pursuit at Saturday...
I'll be back

I've been watching too much Ski jumping. But I don't mind when I caught to one of the races.

So i guess it's time for this thread again, since tha alpine season started off today.
So Lara Gut won the Giant Slalom ahead of Kathrin Zettel and Victoria Rebensburg. Tina Maze didn't look great finished somewhere around 15th. Wonder whats up?

Or as we call it: 'Norwegian drive-by'

Biathlon. The only sport were it's not a farce that the sportspeople are employed by the army.

Finally the season is (almost) underway!

The speed skating has started pretty well with Ida Njåtun setting a new PB on the 1500. Marit Bjørgen and Therese Johaug have prepared better infront of this season than they have before, so... prepare your anus.

Our only skiing hope is likely to miss the Olympics due to an injurySad

Your ice skaters won't stand a chance anyway. The Dutch are better than 4 years ago (if possible of course)

Yeah, no denying that. I just hope Håvard Bøkko fails massivly this season aswell.

Sure, it's the olympic season, but you can't say Bjørgen and Johaug struggled last year.

I am HUGE fan of winter sports , especially ski jumping. Watching it for about 5 years, knowing each jumper and all of that. Go Robert Kranjec, go Letalnica in Planica , fuck Vikersund and Norwegian Ski Jumpers.

Btw, following absolutely every winter sports except ice skating and figure skating.

Time to rethink the incredibly stupid idea of using hard LED cushions in ski jumping after Hajek horribly crashed head first into them Angry

What a mass start in Pokljuka  5 riders in the lead at the last lap (Shipulin, Eder, Lindström, M.Fourcade and Béatrix). Béatrix attacked many times, keeping only Fourcade and Shipulin behind him. In the last hill, one of his ski slipped and blocked Fourcade. The frenchs wanted to be first and second, but finished second and fifth... Angry
