Jaguar-Eritel are entering into their 6th season in existence, and for the first time ever, they will ride a Grand Tour! Our wildcard application to the Vuelta a Espana has been accepted.
Although not finalised yet, the 9 man squad is likely to be as follows - it largely picked itself:
Ian Bibby
Chris Froome
Alex Dowsett
Andrew Tennant
Daniel Teklehaimanot
Tesfar Teklit
Meron Amanuel
Sam Bennett
Bassirou Konte
The Vuelta has quite a few hilly stages, which will certainly provide an opportunity for Chris Froome and British champion Alex Dowsett to shine. The early time trials could put Andrew Tennant and Ian Bibby in a relatively high GC position early on, which Bibby will then proceed to try to maintain as well as possible over the mountains.
An African presence is of course important to us, thus the selection of three Eritreans and a rider from the Ivory Coast. Teklehaimanot, Eritrean champion Teklit, and Amanuel will all gain valuable experience. Teklehaimanot rode all three Grand Tours last year, and it was the Vuelta where he performed best as he finished 75th. Konte is in the side as valuable hill support for our Brits.
Finally, Sam Bennett will use the race to reach his full potential ahead of next season, but hopefully will try to feature in the sprints as well.

Helmet Sponsor Signed
Jaguar-Eritel would like to announce a deal that has been secured with Lazer, to provide helmets for the team during the 2013 season. With their rivals Giro gaining an increasing monopoly on helmets amongst pro teams, Lazer were keen to get involved and we hope to help them stand out! fintas has created some great designs for use!
Shown below is the time trial helmet, which Ian Bibby, Andrew Tennant and Ian Stannard will aim to make a prominent feature in Continental time trials - or as prominent as possible given the increased competition in this discipline this year!
And here is the road helmet, which will be most prominent in the hills with Chris Froome and Alex Dowsett - as well as with Ian Bibby in the races he is targeting.

Some Jaguar riders went for a ride recently, including our 4 National Champions. They ran into a whole peloton load of other cyclists - what are the chances?

Very exciting shots you have there SN. I really fancy those national champion jerseys you've got there, they're a beauty.

Nice shots - if this is representative - quite a lot of white in peloton this year. |

Yeh, does seem that a lot of teams used white as either their main colour, or one of their main colours. Which is a shame imo, as white is a boring colour Managers who went down that route could regret it when trying to pick out their teams in the screenshots this season though!

Spotted my guys right away But I don't remember telling them to go out for a training ride with the competition, I really should keep a closer eye on my team.

Nice to see my lot in action, but concerned they are hanging around with the Meiji guys, some way back from the Aker - MOT mob. Must be seriously hiding their form

Team Overview
Chris Froome Hills
[img-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_froome.png[/img-r]
Victories:
2009 3 Lander Tour GC + Stages
2010 Tour of Luxembourg stage
2011 Tour of Wellington stage
2011 GP of Wales
2012 Tour of Japan stages
2012 Tour of Southland GC + stage
2012 Ras de Cymru GC + stage
In 2011 he finished 44th in the CT standings, and last season had climbed to 9th. The progression of the Kenyan born Brit continues this year, and he is undoubtedly one of the top puncheurs in the division. We have big expectations for him.
Ian Bibby Stage Races
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_bibby.png[/IMG-r]
Key Results (All 2012):
1st, Stage 14, Tour de France
34th, Vuelta a Espana
58th, Tour de France
He rode for Wiggle on loan last year and impressed with a stage win of the biggest race of them all. He is a good all round cyclist with strength in Mountains, Hills and Time Trials, and there are some interesting races on the calendar which mix all 3.
Alex Dowsett Hills
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_dowsett.png[/IMG-r]
Key Results:
1st, British National Championships 2012
2nd, Nedbank Classic 2012
2nd, Tour de Boland 2012
2nd, Giro del Lazio 2009
2nd, GP Plouay 2009
Dowsett has undergone a full stage of development at our team - albeit with 2 seasons on loan to the ProTour, which did herald two Top 15 stage race finishes. After various near misses, he finally secured that first victory in the British championships - and the national jersey will be seen in a mixture of leadership and Froome support roles this season.
Andrew Tennant Time Trials
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_tennant.png[/IMG-r]
Key Results:
1st, Tour of Wellington stage 2010
1st, Giro d'Italia stage 2011
1st, Tour of Oman ITT 2012
1st, Herald Sun Tour ITT 2012
6th, KBC De Panne Tour 2012
7th, Isle of Man ITT 2012
A strong asset to the team with already two ProTour stage wins to his name in his career. Individual time trial results could be hard to find with extra competition this year - but he will certainly do his best - while also supporting Bibby in those stage races with TTTs.
Ian Stannard Time Trials
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_stannard.png[/IMG-r]
Victories:
Tour of Wellington stage 2011
4 Jours de Dunkerque stage 2011
Tour of the Channel Islands stage 2011
Tour of Missouri stage 2011
Giro del Trentino stage 2012
Presidential Tour of Turkey stage 2012
British ITT National Championships 2011,2012
Ras de Cymru stage 2012
Notorious hill hater, Stannard knows where his strengths lies - nowhere but time trials! But over the past two seasons, he has excelled with multiple stage wins. A change of calendar focus this season could mean victory opportunities are reduced however.
Sam Bennett Sprinter
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_bennett.png[/IMG-r]
Key results:
1st, Irish National Championships 2012
2nd, Stage 7, Tour de l'Avenir 2012
The Irish National champion had lived a fairly anonymous life in the management game with a season with us, then his 2nd season on loan to Cafe de Colombia - until we reached the end of 2012. 4 Avenir sprint Top 10s, including a 2nd place, and becoming national champion. He might struggle to make an impression in C1 races this season in the sprints - but is really targeting the C2 FBD Eire Tour.
Daniel Teklehaimanot Stage Races
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_tekle.png[/IMG-r]
2012 Grand Tour GC finishes:
75th, Vuelta a Espana
80th, Giro d'Italia
116th, Tour de France
Joining us from Spyker Cars, the future Eritrean star rode all 3 Grand Tours last season. A largely support role lies ahead this season, although he will lead the team at the Tour d'Algerie and the all Eritrean squad at the Tour of Eritrea - we have no expectations on a strong result however.
Tesfar Teklit Hills
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_teklit.png[/IMG-r]
Key Results (All 2012):
6th, Tour du Faso
14th, Cape Argus Cycle Tour
18th, Tour of South Africa
The Eritrean National champion will have 81 race days this season - the most of any rider in our team. Plenty of opportunity to get the jersey shown off, while supporting our leaders.
Mouhssine Lahsaini Stage Races
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_lahsaini.png[/IMG-r]
The Moroccan will be working closely with Ian Bibby this season in a support role, while receiving a single team leadership opportunity at the Giro del Capo.
Bassirou Konte Hills
[IMG-r]https://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/jag_konte.png[/IMG-r]
The rider from the Ivory Coast is set to be an ever present member of the supporting team for both Froome and Dowsett.
The rest of the squad is as follows:
Abdelmalek Madani
Essaid Abelouache
Araya Medhin Dawit
Daniel Abraham
Lotto Petrus
Richard Cleaver
Meron Amanuel
Mark Christian
Philip Lavery
Charles Anguilet (2012 African Champion)
Souheil Khederi
Natnael Berhane
Elias Afewerki
Youcef Reguigui
Faycal Hamza
Issiaka Cisse
Awit Gebremedhin
Jani Tewelde
Janvier Hadi

Let the season begin!
Racing is already under way, and while many teams opened the season in Melbourne, Jaguar-Eritel went to Adelaide early to fully prepare for the week of racing ahead in the Tour Down Under.
Alex Dowsett will start as one of the favourites if the hills are to prove decisive, and he is targeting the Stage 5 uphill finish at Willunga as the key moment of the race. Here to support him in the hills are Bassirou Konte, Tesfar Teklit and Essaid Abelouache.
Irish pair Sam Bennett and Philip Lavery warmed up for the event with some anonymous riding in a few criteriums, while Natnael Berhane completes the squad.
Over in Algeria meanwhile, Daniel Teklehaimanot leads a young squad in the C2 stage race. Algerians Youcef Reguigui and Faycal Hamza hope to impress on home roads, alongside Elias Afewerki, Jani Tewelde, Issiaka Cisse and Janvier Hadi. An all African squad for the Tour d'Algerie.

Early Season Summary: January -> April
Chris Froome
Tour of South Africa: 6th, with a stage win
Gisborne GP: 3rd
Scandinavia Open Road Race: 1st
Tropicale Amissa Bongo: 8th
PCT Ranking: 24th
Victory in Sweden and a podium in New Zealand showed that Froome's one day form is going well, but there was disappointment in the African stage races. His stage win in Tour of South Africa was marred by a lack of time gaps given, as the elite field of puncheurs was Hoffman-ed. The Tropicale Amissa Bongo was also lacking in opportunities for meaningful gaps.
Alex Dowsett
Tour Down Under: 1st
Tour of South Africa: 12th
GP di Lugano: 13th
Scandinavia Open Road Race: 11th
Tour of Taiwan: 9th
Tropicale Amissa Bongo: 5th
PCT Ranking: 11th
The start of the season remains the highlight as Dowsett triumphed over Efimkin to take the GC, but early season form counted for little by the Tour of Taiwan where Dowsett was below par as the Russian dominated. A few races have been ridden in support of Froome, but he stepped up in Tropicale Amissa Bongo to finish higher than his teammate and secure the vital sponsor goal.
Ian Bibby
Tour of Sochi: 3rd
Tour of Japan: 3rd and Points Jersey
PCT Ranking: 37th
A strong start to the season. Bibby recently finished in the Top 8 of every stage in the Tour of Japan, which gave him the Points Jersey, but he couldnt manage a stage finish higher than 3rd. With Sochi included, only once in his 11 days of racing so far has he failed to make the Top 10!
Andrew Tennant
Thuringen Rundfahrt: 14th, 3rd in TTT
Olympia's Tour: 5th, 3rd and 11th in the ITTs
Corsica International: 13th in the ITT
Duo Differdange: 4th
PCT Ranking: 91st
Has struggled a little in the time trials so far this season, but a decent GC performance in Thuringen Rundfahrt and Top 5 finish at the Olympia's Tour have been good results for races where our 3 top leaders could not compete.
Ian Stannard
Thuringen Rundfahrt: 3rd in TTT
Olympia's Tour: 8th, 8th in both ITTs
Corsica International: 9th in the ITT
Duo Differdange: 4th
Tour of Japan: 2nd in Prologue
PCT Ranking: 117th
The increase in PCT time trialling quality has not helped Stannard, who was denied by the World Champion from taking his first win of the season at the Tour of Japan. A Top 10 GC finish at the Olympia's Tour was a nice bonus though!
Daniel Teklehaimanot
Tour d'Algerie: 19th, U25: 3rd
Tour of South Africa: 48th
Tour of Sochi: 16th, U25: 3rd
Corsica International: 64th
Tour of Japan: 18th, U25: 1st
PCT Ranking: 169th
A solid season so far for our leading Eritrean. Three Top 20 finishes is very pleasing, as is being the best young rider in Japan.
Other Notable Performances
Tour d'Algerie, KoM: Faycal Hamza
Thuringen Rundfahrt, 30th GC: Richard Cleaver
Olympia's Tour, 26th GC: Mark Christian
Olympia's Tour, 29th GC: Issiaka Cisse
Tour of Sochi, 19th GC: Mouhssine Lahsaini
Tour of Taiwan, 13th GC: Bassirou Konte
Tour of Taiwan, 5th on Sprint stage: Sam Bennett
Tropicale Amissa Bongo, 18th GC: Bassirou Konte
Tropicale Amissa Bongo, 22nd GC: Tesfar Teklit
Tropicale Amissa Bongo, 23rd GC: Mouhssine Lahsaini
Tour of Japan, 16th GC: Mouhssine Lahsaini
Overall Team Rankings:
1 | | Rothaus - Aegon | 1780 | 2 | | Tinkoff Bank - Rosneft OJSC | 1687 | 3 | | Hollister Pro Cycling | 1669 | 4 | | Bouygues Telecom | 1492 | 5 | | Team Bpost | 1419 | 6 | | ING Cycling Project | 1378 | 7 | | Sram - Riboxx | 1371 | 8 | | Metinvest-Emirates | 1317 | 9 | | Jaguar - Eritel | 1240 | 10 | | HTC Nieuwsblad | 1148 |

Chris Froome quits Jaguar-Eritel
After 5 seasons with the Jaguar-Eritel squad, it has been announced that the British-Kenyan is to leave the team at the end of the season. He has developed significantly since joining the squad and secured wins in every season from 2009 up to the present day - most recently at the Nelspruit Classic.
But having become one of the top puncheurs in the PCT division, the time has come for a change. Whether that will be to a fellow PCT squad with promotion ambitions, or directly up into a ProTour team, only time will tell.
Rumours suggest he may not be the only rider to leave Jaguar, and indications from the team suggest that almost all their riders are potentially available to new teams.
