Rothaus - Aegon | 2013

Team Goals for 2013 announced

The seasons starts soon. Today we can announce our main season goals for our 2nd season.

Our team at the moment is built around the World Champion Lars Boom. He was our most successful rider in 2012 and so it`s not surprising that our win goal will be something for him: Volta ao Algarve. Last season he already was 2nd behind LL Sanchez here and actually this duel can be expected also in 2013.

Then we have 3 HC goals. All are sprinter friendly. At the moment it`s Maxime Vantomme, who could be expected to lead our team in this terrain. But it`s no secret that he is rumoured to leave the team in case of a good sprinter replacement. But looking on these goals, one thing is for sure: Team Rothaus - Aegon will definitely have a top sprinter also in 2013, be it Vantomme or somebody else.

First is a race in Germany. A top 5 in the Berlin Pro Race is wanted by the Rothaus company. The same counts for the early season classic in Australia: Top 5 in the Down Under Classic. This is a race we somehow missed last season as so many sprinter classics actually.
Last HC goal is another top 5. This in the very sprinterfriendly 4 stage race Eneco Tour. Without the everything winning Bennati in PCT this season these races might be more open. So a top 5 should be possible in all of these.

And last our team standing goal. Last season we failed by focussing on the whole UCI calendar. This year we will do a more European focus. A top 10 is wanted there and as last season has shows this is possible: Top 10 i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae328/JJagr/flags/WRL.png European Tour Standings.

In total this might still mean a focus on the sprint and time trial races. If we have more luck in the sprints this should be a much better season.

Manager not happy with Vantomme?

Maxime Vantomme started last season as the star of the new formed Rothaus - Aegon team. Unfortunately he never was able to justify his high wage. Nevertheless a renewing wasn`t impossible and the manager waited for Vantomme`s offer.

Rumours are now saying that this first offer made team manager roturn laughing on the ground. A not mentioned by name employee said to the press that they expected a smaller wage demand. Instead Vantomme obviously wanted even more money than last year and this definitely makes it a hard negotiation now.

The future of Vantomme is more open then ever before.

In other news the manager is pretty confident to keep the 2nd leader Lars Boom as also most 2012 riders.

Heine
Vantomme is together with Boom the real Rohaus legends ;-)

On the other hand: a (too) self-confident professional is not the worst thing Wink Looking forward to the final decision about Vantomme, definitely one of the most interesting stories around Pfft

I remain glad that I lost that bid Pfft

Team leaders accepted first round offer

We are happy to announce that our team leader and World Champion Lars Boom has accepted our offer and will be part of the team also in 2013. Same counts for Maxime Vantomme, the most overpaid rider in 2012. His future is still not sure in what team he is riding the next season as we are open for any offers during transfers.

Riders definitely leaving the team:
Christoph Von Kleinsorgen
Frederik Willems
Franz Schiwer
Nico Schoch
Daniele Turek

Thanks to all of them to be part of our team in the debut season.

Riders accepting our first offer:
Lars Boom
Maxime Vantomme
Rob Ruijgh
Ryder Hesjedal
Erik Baumann
Artur Gajek
Claudio Cucinotta
Christoff Van Heerden
Paul Voss
Thomas Koep
Alexander Krieger
Johim Ariesen
Andrei Kunitski
Maximilian Schachmann
Florian Scheit

We are happy to keep the main core of already 15. Last 5 will hopefully accept our next offer. This will of course make it much easier to plan the transfer season than last year.

Riders accepting our second offer:
Aurelien Passeron
Hannes Blank
Carlo Westphal
Valentin Iglinski
Martin Velits

With the 5 more succesful team mates renewing in the 2nd round, we have completed this phase earlier than expected and are happy to have already 20 riders before the transfer window opens.
Half of these might leave the team for the right offer. But the core might keep the same.

Spoiler
Yep. I renewed with Artur Gajek. You haven`t expected this, right?Cool
I thought he won as much as all my other sprinters...0...so I had to give him a chance.

Wages will come to a later date when the transfer season has started. At the moment we agreed to keep them secret.

You could show Vantomme's new wage, just for fun Wink

roturn
Nah. Later on. Everybody was already laughing last season (including me). This season you will have still a lot of opportunities to laugh right now when seeing him in the race startlists. Wink

Rin
So I guess there won't be any interest in Vantomme if the wage is still so very high that it munches a lot of the cap. Sad

As you can see none of the team leaders gets more money than last year. We are very happy with Boom`s contract as he should be a very good value for this salary. Same counts for aging Hesjedal and climber Ruijgh, who are pretty alone in this terrain.
Also Vantomme went down 300.000 € after asking for more money. This was pretty much the maximum and we have to admit that it will be difficult to trade him in the transfer window still being on a high contract. But this is definitely more acceptable than his 2012 wage.
All others were mainly signed on minimum contracts. Only the riders with stage wins in 2012 asked for a very bit more and we accepted as they were great part of our team in the debut season.

I have a feeling we will meet each other all the time. Almost all the same goals and the same regional interest. Good luck anyway.

AMEXpc is very interested in Ryder Hesjedal. We are new to the PCT and we are looking for some veteran leaders who who hope will be North American riders. Hesjedal would quickly blend into the roster we hope to assemble and his veteran leadership would go along way to establishing a solid PCT team.

If there is any interest on Rothaus' part, I will contact you early in the transfer period with our offer.

I guess it will start in the transfers and will continue in the races. Good luck nevertheless.

As said, for a good offer he is free to go. So we might talk again when the transfer window opens. Having a bigger role for a "home" team is surely not the worst for him as well.

Alstom - RBC will also be interested in Ryder Hesjadal it is said that the only Canadian team in the ProContiental tour would be very interested in bringing in a top home talent and hesjedal will certainly fit that bill Alstom will be in touch during the window.

Avin Wargunnson
Metinvest is still potentially interested in Italian flat powerhouse Claudio Cucinotta, the management is now thinking over what sum could be the "good offer" for Rothaus. But it seems likely that Rothaus will hear from Metinvest during the transfer window.
I'll be back

First transfer movement

Yet we can`t announce any new signing but we hope to do this within the next two days. But we have 3 riders leaving the team.
Artur Gajek had a mediocre season last year. Just like all sprinters he just couldn`t reach a lot. Going down to the Continental Tour joining Adira-Isq Project might help him to get some more success.
Thomas Koep and Johim Ariesen will leave the team for 2013 only on loan deal. Both are supposed to collect a lot of experience in the Pro Tour. Koep will even ride for last years PT winner Vesuvio Accumalux, where he can learn from the best. Surely not wrong to ride under the Schleck brothers.
Ariesen joins the newly promoted Pokerstars.com team. For a sprinter probably the perfect team to join.
Both will come back a lot stronger in 2014.

Hesjedal and Baumann out

Our plan in season two was to make the team younger. Eric Baumann was already told early that he might have to look for a new team. And he found a good CT team and will go stage hunting in Asia next year as he joined the Japanese - Korean Cycling Project. Pretty sure he will have better chances there.
Ryder Hesjedal was not really supposed to be traded. But knowing that our focus won`t be on the mountain races he asked us to leave when first offers came in. In the end we were able to come to a good agreement with Team Metinvest which was good for both sides. Seeing that the team had signed Popovych recently the focus is clearly more suited for him. We won`t forget his performances for us last season with the highlight in Canada of course taking the win in his home race.

Good luck to both of then and maybe we even will meet again in some races.

First rider signed

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Olivier.png

It took quite a long time but finally we were able to announce the first rider. Just like last year he is a young talent from the Netherlands: Daan Olivier.
The young Dutch is a future stage racer and has huge potential. We plan to slowly let him improve and then try to strengthen our mountain squad around young talents Olivier and Koep, who has one year more experience already.

We hope that this signing gives us new energy for the second half of the transfer window and really look forward for him to perform in our team. He will be taught by his country men Rob Ruijgh, our climbing leader, who is happy to have another Dutch next to him performing in the hard HC mountain races.

German leader on board

upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f1/Simon_LBL.jpg/220px-Simon_LBL.jpg

Last year we weren`t able to get the best German riders on the market and also this year it didn`t look good for a long time. Our sponsor Rothaus told us that another year without a German leader would be disappointing. So we had to get Simon Geschke. He is a great addition for our team. He perfectly combines puncheur and sprinter skills and should be a very important rider for us. We think he can do very well in several races and with only 27 years of age he still has a lot ahead of him.
Also the sponsor is happy with him as he surely was one of the best German Free Agents this season.

On the other hand two Germans are leaving the team. Florian Scheit was traded to the new Swedish CT team Vattenfall Cycling and will start to show his potential in the Continental Tour.
Alexander Krieger will ride for Simply Red Bull in the Pro Tour next season, but just like Koep and Ariesen will be back next season when being on a higher level.

tyriion
Congratz on Geschke. I couldn't risk going higher at the moment. Now I could have but it's too late. But he'll do well in your team so good luck to him and you.
