According to Belgian media De Standaard, Marco Marzano already negotiated about contract with Pokerstars.com. Trustworthy source said, that ageing climber feel this can be his last opportunity to ride in PT next season nad he definitely wants to leave VW-Mapei. Unfortunately De Standaard couldn´t get statement of both managers, Heine and beagle yet.
Any comments?

When it comes to Marzano we are not quite sure what to do, he was an important rider for us last year, and while we notice that age has started to hurt him we still believe he still got the skills that the team will need in the hunt for promotion. On the other hand we always want to give the riders the best chanses they can, and if we get a good offer for Marzano we might be willing to let him go. When it comes to rumours about Pokerstars there are some riders there we could be interested in, among them Mohs, Degenkolb and Wallays. A deal could be made with Pokerstars, but at the moment we can only say that everything can happen.

Heine comments on the rise of new germanic teams
After VolksWagen announced their sponsorship over a year ago there has been a massive influx of new german teams, both last year and this year. This year we have also seen a Austrian team join the fun.
"It is great to see the interest that has been sparked in Germany. Going from pretty much no german teams to the amount we got today shows the potential of German cycling. We are also able to see that the money invested are giving results, Germany left the WC with 2 medals and a fourth in the TTT (OT: iirc, I haven't bothered to doublecheck, but I think both Zepuntke and Burghardt got a medal). This shows great improvement on former results for the nation. Everything is not positive on the other hand, as more teams means a higher demand for the riders, therefore this season we have picked out a few riders that we will hunt, and either we will get them, or other teams will overpay for them. They include riders like Kupfernagel, Nerz, Brändle and Taubel, and we will be willing to pay alot for them. Other teams might want them, we understand that, but we hope that we can come to a mutual understanding. There are of course other tiders that we want, Denifl is always a dream, so is riders like Kohl and Fothen, or Degenkolb and Mohs, but we also have to be realistic and can't sign every great German speaking rider."

After press release of team manager Heine, the staff of Allianz-BMW need to announce the backup for his plans. We know its important for german speaking teams to cooperate to reforming german cycling and bringing back the old glorius times. We think we can co-live and help each other to train the next generation of german speking riders. Fortunately its enough german and austrian (and swiss) cyclists to sign and we hope not to step in each other way. |

beagle´s reaction for media on "Marzano" issue: "Good afternoon. Yes, I can confirm Marco Marzano is very interesting rider for us and we will try to find out the best way, how to get him into our team. You could expect some hard negotiations between me and Heine though, as we are both known as stubborn guys (sry Heine ). Seriously, I´m not sure if there exist any way acceptable for both teams. John Degenkolb is becoming indispensable part of our squad and presence of young Belgian Jelle Wallays is important for our sponsor. On the other hand, Eric Mohs could leave our team, indeed only under certain circumstances. That´s all for today, gentlemen, thank you for your attention."

Ever since the day Brenes were on a training camp with the Nacional sqaud of Costa Rica,
he has been in constantly contact with the manager of the future team Banco Nacional de Costa Rica.
Gregory Brenes also said to the press a few days laiter that he has been homesick ever since he sat himself on the plane back to Germany. |

@Marco Marzano
We agree that there are two stubborn managers that will have to negotiate around Marzano, will be interesting too see if we manage to make a deal
@Gregory Brenes
The likelihood of Brenes leaving VolksWagen, Germany and Europe behind is minimal. He went to Europe to be the best cyclist he could ever be, and going home already would be a failure both for him and us. He will this year have alot more responsibility and we know that he will ride a GT either this year or next year. Why should he want to lave that?

Goals announced
VolksWagen-Mapei are happy to annouce the goals for the next season. The goals should send the team all over the world, with goals in Asia, Europe and Africa. "We want to promote this year, not play around winning regional divisions." Was the statement from manager Heine.
Top 5 Team Standings
The first goal is to be among the 5 best teams in the PCT. This goal is needed to secure promotion and prove that VolksWagen-Mapei are strong enough to be a future Pro Tour team. With riders like Flügel, Marzano and Ratiy most likely staying, the talents developing and new strong riders coming in the team should be able to finish in the top
Win Japan Cup
A race that seems to be popular this year. Flügel won it last year, why shouldn't he be able to do it again? This year he's stronger than ever and we should be able to give him more support than ever before.
Top 5 in Giro Del'Emillia
Another race that is perfect for Flügel. It will be hard to beat guys like Ginnani but if someone can get a good result it is Flügel.
Top 5 Rund um bad Herzburg
The only German race among our goals, and we really expect Flügel to shine here. He should be among the strongest and when racing in Germany he should give us atleast a top 5, or maybe even a win.
Top 5 Tour of South Africa
The last goal, another top 5 and another goal made for Flügel. With a stronger backup team than last year he should be able to get us a strong result here.
In general, we expect Flügel to secure our goals for us. Do we place alot on his shoulders? Yes we do. Do we think he can make it? YES!

I guess we will once again meet pretty often this season. Most likely in the German and European races.
Good luck with promotion. Afterwards you can trade me Flügel. |

You are allowed to dream ;-) Good luck in the coming season. We should meet less than last year, considering Reus leaving me ;-)

True. Reus-Boom was a lot of times. I should go for him. Less opponents then. |

Riders released
News from the VolksWagen-Mapei camp says that the following riders have been released as a part of the first round of contract negotiations: Andreas Klier, Robert Förster, Fabio Sabatini, Alberto Loddo, Christian Pfannberger, Jussi Veikkanen and Benjamin Noval. This is as expected and based on former statements from the team they will mostly be replaced by developing youngsters inside the team.

Riders signing at once!
Several riders have already decided to stay in VolksWagen-Mapei, while others hold out for atleast one more round. The riders that have already signed are:
Winner Anacona
Lasse Bøchman
Gregory Brenes
Ole Haavardsholm
Christian Müller
Kevin Predatsch
Georg Preidler
Daniel Schorn
That means 8 riders are already ready for the next season. Now we are waiting for the big guns to accept their contracts!
Signed during the second round
The following riders have decided to stay with the team in the second round of negotations:
Alexandar Flügel
Kai Reus
Rick Zabel
Ruben Zepuntke
Flügel is coming back to be the clear leader of the team next season. Kai Reus will most likely be shopped during the transfer season, but for now he stays with the team. Rick and Ruben are two of the future hopes of the team, and we are glad that they are staying!

Last riders sign their contracts
After long and hard negotiations the last riders have decided to sign their contracts. Lucas Schädlich, Marco Marzano, Vadim Ratiy and Niki Østergaard finally decided to put their names on the paper. That means the team consists of 16 riders before the transfer seasons begin!

Was half hoping that Preidler or Schorn would somehow fall through the cracks, though I knew it was rather unlikely! Even if they did become free agents my chances of signing them would have been quite small .
I'll content myself with adding Pfannberger to my shortlist of Austrians and prepare to do battle over some of the other Austrian talents in the transfer period. Hopefully I'll be able to acquire some semblance of the talents that you're squad possesses now!
Cheers!

Ratiy signed the contract? I hope VolksWagen was not threatening him. We will have to wait to release him from slavery for one more year then.
Just kidding, congrats for core of your team staying intact.

Ratiy's wage vs value is ridicilous. I feel he's really worth the 1.3 millions I paid for him last year (becuse of that wage)
Reus wage is affordable, would've kept him if I didn't want to change the look of my team. The TTers/Hilly riders are sure point scorers in the CT/PCT, guys like Boom, Reus and Ignatiev
