Yeah good luck on getting Cunego You'll need it. Especially if you want Nibali aswell. That won't go down well in the italian teams I reckon.
Besides that Cunego is one of the riders on my top priority list aswell, so good battle

The team manager is attending the Giro press conference today, before the manager was asked why there isn't a jersey yet: "We have a designer designing it but it takes some time. But we will have one before the season starts!"

Press announcement: Lotto - Cervélo team goals at the first ProTour season
"Even though we are at our very first ProTour season after being at the ProContinental division since 2010, that doesn't mean we have to hide ourselves behind every other team. So we have 2 or 3 very optimistic goals based on the rider we will target as the number one rider we will everything give in to get him and 2 goals based on the team we have at the moment.
Win Giro di Lombardia
I think thats pretty clear. We want Cunego and Cunego should deliver here. He is the italian champion in both road and time trial and is the reigning champion of the Giro di Lombardia.
Top 5 Tour de France
This is also based around Cunego but also in mind with our plan B.
I think Cunego would be the best at the Tour so this is it. But I think the riders on our list are also very capable of getting into the Top 5 here if we can't get Cunego.
Top 10 Fleche Wallonne
A belgian race had to be in it and the Fleche Wallonne is the most obvious choice. The belgian race that fits our team the best.
Top 10 Lisbon Classic
A new race was also on our goals plan and we decided on the Lisbon Classic. I think thats a race where our riders who are, to be honest, not at the top ProTour level, could still get a decent place here like Monfort or Claeys for example.
Top 10 Team Standing
I thought we need to avoid relegation, but if you are in the Top 10 you are already avoiding relegation.

We're targeting some of the same races and aim to get the same rider to achieve them. I'm not sure I like that.

Plan A is Cunego
Plan B is someone from Luxembourg
Plan C ... maybe the Bianchi plan
Remember that Nibali is also very high at the list but the most important part is getting a top PT rider.
If both are unavailable then I will pull off the Bianchi from last season getting many (underrated?) riders and then wait for the races

It will be very interesting to see what Yannick Stoltz can do as a team-leader at the Tour de France

Was just kidding as I still plan to have at least 3 riders of a nation in my team so Luxembourg would be bad with few riders and a Luxembourgian? team
Especially at the Luxembourgian championships
Italy and Spain is so more likely as I have some riders from there and they are not that bad.

Lotto - Cervélo press news: Contract renewals
Today the manager invited the riders to the HQ in Belgium to talk about the contract negotations of their current riders.
The Lotto - Cervélo manager said to the press waiting infront of the HQ:
"As we said before Gustov, Odebrecht and Matzbacher will leave the team and so their contracts won't renewed. We would like to thank them for their contribution to the team as Gustov and Odebrecht were with us since the first season and Matzbacher since 2011. We would like to wish them good luck to find a team for the next season, we are sure they will find a team."
Asked about the other riders:
"We are currently in early negotations so we can't say there anything yet. But I have a good feeling that the others will renew their contracts."

Lotto - Cervélo press news: Contract renewals late evening
After an afternoon break, the negotations resumed and so at the evening the Lotto - Cervelo manager went out as the last person of the HQ and the most important journalists were still there so he went to them:
"We are at the mid-stage and a lot of riders took our 1st offer but some rejected their offer. They will have the night to think about our improved offers we made to them and tomorrow we should have our team together and will announce it. Good night everyone."

Lotto - Cervélo press news: Last contract renewals in the morning
Today in the morning, some riders came to the Lotto HQ again these were:
Gerald Ciolek
Dimitri Claeys
Koldo Gil
Juan Jose Cobo
Maxime Monfort
and
Frantisek Rabon
All of them went out but not Juan Jose Cobo... Are there disagreements about the contract?
The riders said after they went out "No comment, the manager will announce the team so.." after they were asked if they are still with Lotto for next year.

Lotto - Cervélo press news: End of contract renewals
At noon, the contract renewals ended so the manager announced:
"We are happy to announce that everyone accepted our contract offers so besides the departures of Gustov, Matzbacher and Odebrecht.
Our core team looks strong, now we just need the final 1-2 pieces from the Free Agents to have a very strong team together.
I am very happy how the talks went and I am happy that everything went like we planned before."
A journalist asked "What about the money and the salary cap?" another journalist added "What about Cunego?"
"I can say that we have so much money to spend out like never before in the history of our team, so if we need a transfer that goes through with money we can spend a chunk on it without going broke.
About the salary cap I can't say the amount of money we will be spending out for the salary at the moment. But I can say we are in a good position for the Free Agent talks.
About Cunego I would be a bit cautious because with the new teams, regulations etc. it could be hard to get him and hard to foresee how the Free Agents talks will go. If I take the season before into account I would say we can get Cunego but he isn't our only plan. It would be not intelligent to have just a Plan A."
Who would be still available?
"After the renewals I would say Ciolek, Stauff, Moschella and Zaini won't leave our team. The same counts for our belgian riders obviously. Otherwise it's still the same."
"But what about the 3 riders of a nations in your team? I mean you just have 2 germans and italians.."
"Thats part of Plan B, if Plan A doesn't go well then we will put out Plan B and the other teams shouldn't expect we aren't fighting for riders, we have money to spend out."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lotto - Cervélo: Pre-transfer newspaper special
"We will definetly get in touch with Vesuvio about Intxausti."
A belgian newspaper wrote a 2 pages special about the Lotto - Cervélo team with a interview with the team manager.
After the contract negotiations.. What do you think about that part?
"We are happy that we could sign at the end everyone of the 19 we wanted to keep.
Although some know they will be still definetly leaving the team which isn't nice, but thats cycling."
Can you tell anything about these available riders?
"Schwab, 1 or 2 of the Spaniards but not Lloret and Aramendia, Rabon and Hochmann, Lequatre, Rooijakkers and maybe Mazur will be leaving.
I think everyone will find a team very soon when the transfer window opens and I won't lay anyone there any big stones I promised that to them at the contract negotiations."
It would be very surprising that maybe both of your national champions would be leaving!
"It is nice to have national champions but it's better to have a monument or tour winner.
The only national championship I really really care about is the belgian one because it's where the team is based I hope we can win it, if it's not pancake flat, very very soon."
What do you think about the Free Agents and especially Cunego?
"I think Plan A with Cunego is pretty much not possible.. I would expect that Cunego goes above our cap we would like to spend for him. So Cunego is pretty much written off.
I would like to continue a Bianchi approach having more good riders than a perfect one who rides a Tour and a race afterwards and then doesn't wish to ride that season.
I think we can't depend on the Free Agents because the wage is pretty much overpaid for the riders I would like to have. Maybe because of our philosophy how the team should look like, we will go for some Free Agents but not the big ones."
So no Nibali?
"I think so."
As you will transfer some of your riders, you need at least 20 to take part next season.. So if you just go for some under the radar Free Agents, you might be ending up in relegation?
"No, I think this season we should make good transfers to end up at the Top 10 this season. I think we can do this and we will chase good riders who are able to achieve something.
We will just look for Free Agents to get some riders for our 3 riders of a nation in our team at least philosoyouknow."
So who will you look after that are currently at other teams?
"I don't want to say a lot but we will definetly get in touch with Vesuvio about Intxausti.
We will be very active on the phone when the transfer window opens, especially with the PT teams but WWE, Vueling, ING and Prio Porto should also expect a call from us.
I think we could land good transfers to be in a good position for our first PT season. We have money to spend out for transfers but I won't pay bizillions for just 1 rider."
So you will look out for big names?
"I think we shouldn't hide just because we promoted from the ProContinental tour after being there since 2010.
If you look up the history of the PCT or CT, you see that the winner of the PCT or CT went on to have a good future at the PT. Why shouldn't we link ourselves up there?
I am sure also the riders noticed that so we won't get any "Nah, your team isn't good enough." responses.
So we will definetly look out to land 1-2 big names. I am sure we will."
At which nationalities will you look after?
"Belgian, German, Spanish and Italian definetly. Maybe Polish and Croatian."
At last, what about the goals?
"I made the goals pretty much 2 sided.. I hope we will reach 3 of them, so getting into the PT Top 10, Top 10 at the Lisboa Classic and Fleche Wallonne must be achieved.
Winning Giro di Lombardia is very out of reach I guess but I will look to transfer someone who is able to do this.
Also the Top 5 at the Tour de France is pretty tough but these 2 goals are goals that we would like to achieve in the future:
Good results at grand tours and classics especially monuments."

Lotto - Cervélo breaking news
A quote from a belgian newspaper:
Lotto - Cervélo signs Damiano Cunego!
Damiano Cunego in the yellow jersey at the last stage of the Tour de France 2012
The mood at the Lotto - Cervélo HQ at Brussels, Belgium couldn't be better today after the Lotto - Cervélo management have signed with one of the cycling greatests Damiano Cunego.
Cunego, who was last year with the now defunct Café de Colombia, is the current Tour de France champion and 6-time Giro d'Italia winner.
He arrived afternoon at the Lotto - Cervélo HQ and was shown the building by the team manager and staff having a look at how the team works and work processes are. Then they went to the managers office and had a talk.
Possible duel at the next Tour? Madrazo vs. Cunego
The team manager gave a statement infront of the Lotto - Cervélo HQ:
"We are very very very pleased that we can announce the top target of the Transfer talks and would like to welcome Damiano Cunego at our team!
I can't say how happy I am working together with a cycling legend and I hope it will be a big lift for the teams first ProTour season."
Cunego at the 17th stage of the Tour de France 2012
Afterwards Damiano Cunego gave a short statement:
"I am happy to join the Lotto - Cervélo team, it is a new experience to work with a newer team and working with them for their first ProTour season. From what I have seen this is a good team and having David de la Fuente here, who was at La Gazetta dello Sport 2010 and 2011 will be just positive."
Cunegos 4th stage win in a row at the Giro 2011 (Stage 17)
A journalist asked "What races will Damiano take part at?"
The manager said: "I will not say too much which races he will take part at as we would like to keep it for the new signings presentation, but I can say obviously one of the Grand Tours. He will definetly ride at the Giro di Lombardia and maybe the Liechtenstein GP."

Simply Red Bull boss was asked about Cunego in an early moring radio interview.
Cunego is the big man about campus at the moment and rightly so, he is the grand champion of our sport. The Tour project last year worked, but Lotto Cervelo are a team for keeps so can he give this team a legacy unlike the defunct Colombians?
As far as races he'll go for, now he has had a taste can he really avoid the temptation of one more tour. He is in a way the 'unbeaten' champion of grand tours. The other thing is the Ardennes, Lotto's former guise of Bianchi were a team of the classics. Obviously Damiano loves Lombardy, but he has never really cracked the Ardennes.
Lotto have surely avoided the promotion-relegation scenerio with this signing, but with their strength it was never even in doubt. Congrats to them

The jersey was revealed just some minutes ago in the internet at Twitter (No twitter code so it's not included here) and the manager wants to add:
"We would like to thank our jersey designer ANFreeman for this great work, Cunego as a legend and national champion should and will be treated like one so he has to ride in a unique national champion jersey!"
