The first stage of Circuit des Ardennes International will be one to remember for Ottema he didn't win the stage, but he did great in showing the team colours. The peleton captured him with only 12 km left to ride meaning that he did a 162 km breakaway and at one point he had an 9 minute lead, but then other riders started to jump away and the gap melted rather quickly. He managed to win all mountain- and intermediate sprints do he would start in the KOM-jersey in stage 2.
Stage 2 was a stage with some minor hills but not enough to make some differences and so the team tried to protect Bates as good as possible. He ended up 10th so a good result for him.
Stage 3 was something new for the team. A team time trail. The riders did everything they could, so I was pretty happy to see my team without any specialists ending on a 9th place losing 1 minute and 2 seconds on Endura Racing.
Stage 4 didn't change anything in the GC so eventually Bates ended 33th and Augustyn 34th, both losing 1.25 minutes to winner Jean-Marc Marino from Saur-Sojasun. Place 2 til 7 went to Endura Racing
I also managed to sign a new Dutch rider named Noah de Jong. He won the time trial in the first espoirs race, the Grand Prix de Portugal Noah will join the team in August.
PS. Thanks for the comments and tips. Just let me know when I can do things better and don't be shy to send critics |

The new signing should be a very decent time trialer in a couple of years, excellent to get even better results in TTT |

I tried to get PCM running on my other PC, but the jerseys kept giving issues. I fixed the most, but a few teams had a neutral shirt.
Zellik - Galmaarden was another cobblestone race so Joseph took the lead. Our personal goal was a top 10, maybe even top 5 finish. It was a windy day so we tried to pull the peleton apart.
After a kilometer or 40 the team succeeded and we still had some riders to keep the pace up and also protect Joseph. The groups got smaller and smaller and a few favorites failed to be in the first group.
With only 20 km to go Joseph lost his final helper and had to do everything on his own. In the end it was Eeckhout who was the strongest rider in the 12 man group who had to fight for the win. Joseph ended 6th This wasn't a sponsor goal, but that didn't make them less happy. Another race that was added to the important results and of course some points added on the ladder |

Thank you Sutty
After Zellik - Galmaarden the riders stayed in Belgium because a few days later they had to ride a race that was important for the sponsor. It was the Arno Wallaard Classic. The sponsor said that with our selection a top 10 goal should be no problem. With Stroetinga waiting for the second part of the season I had to rely on Bates for a good result. A good team effort would be needed as Bates wasn't getting any great results lately. He got protected till 20 kilometers before the finish line and there he choose the wheel of the South African Van Rensburg. The changes in speed costed Bates a lot of energy but he managed to keep the wheel en eventually overtook him. he finished 8th just in front of Van Rensburg who became 10th. Obst won the mass sprint. This race had two positive things that can be mentioned. The first one is of course the fact that we achieved the goal, but also Bates was able to overtake some of the other sprinters. Normally he's just being overtaken by all the others. The riders will now head to the Netherlands where they will ride the Ronde van Noord-Holland.
Ps. Sorry for the fact that I don't have a picture. I played this race on my other PC and the riders had no bikes or helmets so it looked quite strange.

I have catched up with my delays on this story and I have to say I really enjoy it, maybe because it reminds me my own. The other thing is - there's something special about starting from the very bottom and it looks like your team is even worst than mine was at the beginning, but I have do say you are doing unexpectedly well with that squad. The other good thing is your sponsor's contract expires in 2013 - that will speed up things. Can't wait to see how it go. Good luck! |

I must say that the Ronde van Noord-Holland was the most boring one that I've ever seen. The first breakaway escaped and stayed away. 4 riders but non of Cyclingteam De Rijke. We had a goal and that was protecting Bates at all costs and getting him towards the finish line with a nice train just as we did in the New Sealand race. That was the plan and it just had to work because the finances are getting worse. Our train formed with only 16 kilometers to go
Joseph had to launch Bates and Schipper had to keep some distance between Bates and anyone else who was willing to cling onto our train. We kept an even pace and Bates didn't got as fatigued as he normally would be after a non train sprint. With 1,5 kilometers left to go he launched himself out of Joseph's wheel. He was 6th at that point, but he had enough energy to make up some lost ground and snatched his first victory in 2 months.
The sponsors were amused by this result and they are hoping that Bates can take this form to the Tour de Bretagne which is next. It has 7 stages of which 5 are flat. I also decided to keep making trains for Bates so that he doesn't have to keep accelerating to keep someones wheel.
@ Wroblitz : Thanks for reading. I really can't wait for a new sponsor because this lack of funds is killing me |

I know your feeling, I was like that for 4 years. Anyway Ronde van Noord-Holland boring or not was won by you and that's what counts. |

Thanks guys. I'm currently doing a 7 stage race, but i don't have a lot of time so i guess my next update will be tomorrow evening or perhaps Saturday. There is one thing that I would like your opinion about. There is a Russian espoir in my game that won all the flat stages that he raced, so get him to be the black swan of my team?
I'm hoping it will be the Nunez of my game Wroblitz

That's exactly the reason why I always make trains, whether my sprinter is a favourite or not. The accelerations leading to 190+ BPM kill all chances.
Good luck in Bretagne

That Russian youngster will be probably something around SP 72-74 (+potential, of course), which will make him one of your best sprinter (or at least good lead out). You probably won't be able to affort a trainer for him this season, but as soon as you get new sponsor deal and he's worth it, doors are opened. Plus you probably won't get a real-life sprinter with similar stats for €2.000, so I would say go for it. |

Good win!!
About the Russian: irl Team De Rijke would never have gotten him, but on the other hand, this is a game. He can be useful to you, getting a lot of good results and prize money.

You have to think of success and the money it will bring to the team, so sign the Russian as soon as you can |

Okey everybody thinks the same then I will sign the Russian. I'm just hoping that he will be good enough. I'll sign him so that he will join in August. Perhaps he can earn some money in his first races or lead out Stroetinga. |
