News Update
We're now the evening before our first professional race: Tour Méditerranéen. We're both pretty nervous, but we don't expect much. It's the first race of the year so our form is far from good. However, many races have passed already in this season:
Races
Australian NC: Gerrans came out on top, in front of O' Grady and Evans.
Tour Down Under: Vinokourov took the GC win, in front of Hoogerland and Roux. He also won the KoM Jersey. Roux took home the Young Jersey and Henderson the Points Jersey.
GP de Marseilles:
1 | Johnny Hoogerland | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | 3h31'28 | | 2 | Arthur Vichot | FDJ-BigMat | + 41 | | 3 | David Millar | Team Garmin-Barracuda | s.t. | | 4 | Bram Tankink | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | | 5 | Yaroslav Popovych | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 1'10 | | 6 | Laurens Ten Dam | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | | 7 | Anthony Roux | FDJ-BigMat | + 1'34 | | 8 | Jure Kocjan | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | s.t. | | 9 | Pablo Lastras | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 10 | Thomas Voeckler | Team Europcar | s.t. | IanButler | 11 | Linus Gerdemann | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | 12 | Pierre Rolland | Team Europcar | s.t. | IanButler | 13 | Gorka Verdugo | Euskaltel Euskadi | s.t. | | 14 | Christophe Kern | Team Europcar | s.t. | IanButler | 15 | Marzio Bruseghin | Movistar Team | s.t. | |
Étoile de Bessèges:
GC

Points: Bos
KoM: Voeckler
Young: Boasson Hagen
Voeckler shows some excellent early season form as he wins the Mountain Jersey in Bessèges and a top 10 in GP de Marseilles. Let's hope he keeps it up this way!
Other News
We have received our wildcards for Tour de France, Paris - Nice, Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris - Roubaix. E3, G-W and Dauphiné are still pending.
Tomorrow we start out first race, so it's best if we go to sleep now. See you tomorrow, for a relatively short stage, where we can proudly show our new jerseys for the first time! |

FreitasPCM: I'll try to keep the twists to a minimum
JuanMotr: Your smell hasn't let me down much yet, so let's hope you're right
tovhol: I hope so, too. It'll go much slower than the last one, but it can go a long way!
Jesleyh: Yeah, I'm glad for him, out of the barbed wire and into history |

Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 1
This should be a Truffaut-stage: A sprint with some hills along the way.
Fréderique Chapin
I thought the best way to start my career is to get into the breakaway of the day. I tried multiple times.
Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be, so I spend the rest of the day helping the team by getting water bottles. That won't get me to Tour de France, but it's a start!
That's my story of the day, François has much more to tell you!
François Truffaut
My first picture with the Europcar-shirt has Voeckler in it, so this is one to put in a nice frame!
It was a hard parcours, the roads were dangerous and it wasn't long before it started taking its casualties.
Getting ready for the sprint, I hit the asphalt... It was mainly my fault, because I was nervous and I had fallen behind a bit, I wanted to get myself in a good position.
Hutarovich followed.
Voeckler didn't want to waste a mass sprint so he took my place and started off fairly well. With 1km left to go he was in a 4th position.
But he lost some speed and ended up 10th. Well, I would've been happy with tenth. Instead, I finish 160th.

Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 2
Today brings us a short stage and it should end in a mass sprint, but there are three hills along the way, and those have to be climbed.
Fréderique Chapin
I started the race a bit slower than yesterday, but since there wasn't any breakaway, I attacked, 30km after the start.
We formed the breakaway of the day, my first, how exciting!
I fought hard for the next 2 KoM points and won them both!
The peloton didn't feel like giving us the victory so I got caught with about 18km left to go. Oh well, it was a fun day! And I got the team publicity and some cash!
The speed before a mass sprint is horribly high, so I just took it easy, I'm not here for the GC anyway.
François Truffaut
My day went good, it was just another day in the pack, but I was a bit more careful today.
And lucky I was, I dodged a bullet as many riders hit the ground again today!
Two trains were set up for the sprint, I was a little behind the trains, in a good position.
Kristoff sprinted very strong and wins deservedly. I finish 5th, a result which pleases me a lot!

Tomorrow is the final flat stage of this tour, let's see if I can even improve this result! And Fréderique's been telling me he'd like to attack again. It doesn't surprise me, from the moment we first trained together, he always does this, attacks, accelerations, intermediate sprints on bridges/hills...
Let's hope he succeeds again tomorrow! |

Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 3
Again a short stage, most likely to end in a mass sprint. There is one significant hill that had to be climbed today.
Fréderique Chapin
I felt good enough to try and attack from far out. After all, the stage was only 120km.
I successfully took the first Mountain sprint.
Only then the breakaway of the day is formed, the other riders had some troubles escaping the pack for a while.
An absence which suited me fine was the KoM jersey wearer.
The peloton rode fast and neared close as we hit the first steep meters of the only hill of the day. So we couldn't relax, the companionship of the breakaway group was no more and I was the strongest today, dropping everyone. Le Boulch could hang on for the longest time.
But I take the full 16 points and am virtual leader of the KoM jersey, how great!
The peloton slowed a bit down on the hill and that allowed me to even take the intermediate sprint, which is good for the team's finances.
I got caught right at the final KoM sprint.
I finished the race 158th, almost 4 minutes behind the winner.
François Truffaut
I was in excellent position for the sprint, the wheel of Haedo.
Soupe had started his sprint early but was losing speed.
Poor man thought he had the win in the pocket. He got overruled by Antomarchi. I didn't have super legs and never came out Haedo's wheel.

Well, tomorrow is the final stage and it won't be a sprint, because it has an uphill finish. I might try to hold on, I can ride a hill. However, if someone like Gilbert will go for it, I'm afraid I don't stand a chance.
Fréderique is already certain of his KoM jersey, though, how great is that? I doubt if he will attack tomorrow, three days in a row is about enough, he's pretty tired. |

Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 4
The final stage. Normally it should be something for Fréderique, but considering the effort he put in being in the attack the previous days, he'll take a rain check today.
Fréderique Chapin
This was a great day for me. I enjoyed every second of it, wearing that jersey, I'm incredibly proud of it. My dad even showed up to see me in it.
Today I didn't have the energy to do something, I'm not ashamed to admit that. It's my first professional race and I think I took the best start possible. So all I did today was my job: carrying bottles.
And then it was over, and I get to take this home:
I get great vibes from the audience, the organization and the team. They welcome me into France like I was born here, incredible! I hope to be one the podium of Tour de France with that jersey one day!
François Truffaut
It was on everyone's mind, but like always, Voeckler is the one putting it into action: one hell of an attack!
With 10km left to go, he was in charge!
Voeckler had started a real war, and unfortunately I was one of the casualties, I can't go up the hill at his pace!
Rolland positioned himself well for the final sprint for the second place.
Voeckler takes a beautiful win, his first of the season, and also the team's.
Rolland gets on the podium and gets a 2nd place overall, what a race for Team Europcar!
