Stage 1
So, my 1st race of the season is here. So far, I'm relaxing in the front of the pack, together with the team.
Here's a pic from the BOTD. Karol is in it, and as already passed 1st in the 1st Mountain Sprint.
The 1st intermediate sprint of the day. Daniel Lloyd is 1st, while Karol is 2nd. Looking good for my young polish team-mate.
2nd intermediate sprint, with once again Daniel Lloyed beeing 1st. This time, Karol is a little back, but points it's not his goal here.
The 2nd mountain sprint is here. Daniel Lloyd takes it, with Karol beeing 2nd. C'mon Karol, just hold to win the jersey.
And I suddenly hear from the car that Karol has passed 1st in the second to last mountain sprint. He's currently the virtual leader from the classification.
And here's me going through the same mountain sprint. The pack is riding fast, but I'm doing my job and protecting De La Fuente.
My job is done soon as we enter the climb, as my form doesn't allow me to go further than that. Kinda of shame that I can't keep up with the pace, but as long as De La Fuente get's in the 1st group, fine by me.
While I'm worried not to lose contact, De La Fuente launches his attack. Together with Kruisjwik, he has decided to try to win the stage and the GC. C'mon, go David!
But no one can follow De La Fuente. Is already on the downhill to the line, and has pretty much the stage in his bag. I'm gonna see him at the finish line now.
And David wins it. Suddenly, there's a burst of adreline running thru my body, as I know that my fellow team-mate and friend has taken the stage. I'm really happy for him.
1'15 later Danielson takes the 2nd while the last place of the podium goes to Kruisjwik.
I get across the line in the 47th position, losing 4'30, but the team has a reason to celebrate: De La Fuente win.
