Stage 2:
I think this stage is the easier one of the 3 moutain stages in Giro del Trentino. I woke up and I was felling well, hoping to finish in the top-30.
There were many tries to make a breakaway but BMC wasn't letting anyone getting away. But with 50km to go, with the beggining of the first real difficulty, the first mountain of the day, Scarponi, Geniez and Sutherland attacked, and they were moving strong.
Geniez was putting a fast pace and Scarponi was being left behind. At this point, Sutherland was already swallowed by the pack, who was now led my Movistar and BMC.
Scarponi was cought by the peloton, and now was De Gent trying to escape. Geniez was still in front with something like 1m lead to the peloton.
De Gent easily joined Geniez, but they've lost valuable seconds to the peloton on the downhill. 10km to go and the pack was really close to the fugitives.
Once again the pack was to strong, and the breakaway was extint. 5km to go and Ivan Basso and Jakob Fulgsang attacked! At this point there weren't many BMC and Movistar riders left in the peloton, and those who were left were exaust. Me? I was in the pack, hoping to finish with them.
De Gent joined the Radioshak and Liquigas rider. De Gent doing a marvelous stage!
At this point all the team leaders were almost on their own, and they were trying to get to the lead group. Karpets was trying really hard to get there, but the pace that those 3 lead riders had set was too strong. The stage would be won by one of those 3 for sure! I was still managing to be in the pack, but I was dying!!
Ivan Basso was the strongest in the last meters and won the stage. De Gent payed the price of attacking in the first moutain and lost some precious time.
Karpets wasn't strong enought to finish in the top-10, and finished in the peloton, like me!
Here is the top-10 of the stage (sorry I don't have the full results)
And the top-10 of the GC:
I'm excited to be on the top-10 but I don't think I'll handle tomorrow's stage. Too hard and I don't want to force anything, just want to let myself go, I have to think in Giro d'Italia! See you tomorrow,
Rui Costa

Costa still in top 10 of the GC, that's a good sign

Stage 3:
For me, this is the hardest stage of Giro del Trentino. That last climb is so hard... and the cold wheather doesn't help either!
But the stage must go and I was hoping to still manage to be in the top-10 at the end of the day. There was a breakaway but no one to worry about.
Entering that major climb, the last one of the day, the one that looks it will never end, there was some riders who joined the breakway. Dupont and Esteban Chavez were there and they were on the top-25.
De Gent pace was putting everyone in trouble. He looked like he really want to win Giro del Trentino. The only resistant of the breakway was Esteban Chavez but De Gent and Dupont were really close. Basso and Gerdenman were trying to get there. Karpets was right behind them with Morabito and Cappechi. Me and some of my teamates were doing our best to finish as better as possible.
For Gerdenman, it looked like it was the last day with the leader jersey on as Basso was going away, trying to get to De Gent and to the leader's jersey.
The mountain was almost over and Dupont still had some strenght left to attack! De Gent couldn't go with him neither did Chavez. Dupont looked good to win the stage and to climb to the top-10, maybe top-5 since there were so many riders losing so much time!
Dupont wins the stage! Terrific performance from the AG2R rider! Great win! De Gent right behind him
Chavez was 3rd and Basso 4th. Basso lost almost 1m to De Gent, De Gent is the new leader!
Gerdenman looked disapointed as he crossed the finish line losing 2m and some seconds.
Karpets was the best Movistar, finishing in 11th place. We expected more from him.
I finished with some of my teamates, in the 17th place. I think I did fine!
Stage results:
GC results:
De Gent is the new leader and Dupont is now 2nd!
I would like to be in the top-10 but 12th place is not a bad place to be right now. As you know I'm just here to prepare Giro d'Italia and I'm felling happy about my performance. Let's see what tomorrow brings us. Last stage of Giro del Tretino, let's see how my legs will work.
Thanks to all the people who are following me and who are wishing me the best of luck. To them, god bless you!
Rui Costa

Story can be nice, but.................. USE .JPG FILES FOR THE SCREENSHOTS. There, said it....
USADA next job must be banning these storis with .png files instead of .jpg.

Good result of Costa!
(One small remark: it's De Gendt, not De Gent) |

You really do need to change your image format from png to jpeg, otherwise you will find people will keep away from your story because of the length of time it takes to download it |
