June 2012:
- 2.2 - Boucles de la Mayenne
Michael Schär won the prologue, and actually we had the first 4 places. But we lost the leaders jersey on the second stage to a sprinter. We tried to conquer it back with Wyss but without luck. His form is simply not good enough.
We ended up with 3rd overall and 5 riders inside top-10
- NC - German championship TT
Sieberg in good form ended 3rd. Gretsch had good intermediate times but misjudged his legs and lost it all on the final kilometers ending up 4th.
- NC - German championship
Despite good efforts by both Sieberg and Gretsch. Greipel won the german championship. Sieberg ending up the best Swiss Life rider at 21st.
- NC - Swiss championship
Rubens Bertogliati got away with Patrick Schnelling and Guillaume Bourgeois. Soon it was evident that these three riders were gonna battle it out for the win. On the last climb Rubens Bertogliati put on the pressure and his fellow escapees couldn't follow. Bertogliati ended up winning the Swiss championship.
- 2.2 - Czech Cycling Tour
Michael Schär won stage 1. And once again we showed our strength in a Time Trial as Dietziker ended up second. They however didn't have the legs on the king-stage of the tour and Dietziker ended up as the best SwissLife rider in 5th overall. In addition Marcel Wyss won KoM.
Misc:
On a different note. Our new signing for the new season Magnus Gerhardsson just won the swedish championship. Looks like we'll have two national champions on the team next year.
Conclusion:
Were up to the 8th position in the continental rankings, and we're very happy to see the Swiss national champion on our team. A great month for the team.

July 2012:
- 2.2 - Tour d'Alsace
Thoma wins stage 4. Another Time Trial. Seems like the only stages we can win at the moment. Florian Stalder wore the leader jersey on the last stage but lost it by 12 seconds to Malacarne. He ended up in 2nd in the GC. Thoma ended up in 7th.
Conclusion
We entered a lot of races this month but let our young riders ride many of them. Without any eye-opening results to follow. Thoma and Stalders results in Tour d'Alsace was without any decent team members. An okay month. We moved down to 10th on the continental ranking.
Transfers:
Guy Donneaux a belgian stage racer has been signed for next season. He seems to be a decent climber already. We saw his talent when he was participating in Ronde de l'Isard and climbed very well.

Young Rider update:
Guy Donneaux and Magnus Gerhardsson joined the team today. And here's how our trainers see them.
Guy Donneaux
Guy Donneaux will become a good Stage Racer. He will never be a superstar, but we didn't expect him to. A good rider for smaller World Tour races.
Magnus Gerhardsson
This guy will be insane. Very good potential in sprinting. Besides that he can get over the hills and do a nice time trial. Can win small stage races as well as smaller classics. |

August 2012:
- 2.1 - Tour of Elk Grove
Gretsch wins the Prologue in front of Thoma. The sprinters had such a bad Time Trial that they did not threaten the jersey. And the team kept things under control and two flat stages ended in two sprints. Resulting in the teams first 2.1 race win. Gretsch takes the GC in front of Zabriskie and Thoma.
- 2.2 - Tour des Pyrenes
Steve Morabito was our leader for this race, and he had a brilliant helper in Dietziker. In fact, after a strong riding in the mountains, they were more or less equal before the final hilly stage. Morabito didn't have the legs. Dietziker did and won the final stage and thereby the race in front of Morabito.
- 1.1 - Coppa Agstini
The great month continues! Morabito takes the win in this classic. A solo victory half a minute before a group of 5.
- 2.2 - Tour du Val d'Aosta
A strong showing by Swiss Life in thiss race. unfortunately Pelizzotti decided to race and showed his power by winning 3 stages. Gerhardsson, Donneaux and Morabito all got 2nd place on stages. Donneaux and Morabito ended up 2nd and 3rd overall. Furthermore Donneaux became KoM.
- 1.2 - Ljublana - Zagreb
Then it came. Magnus Gerhardssons first win as a Swiss Life rider. And he didn't even win it in a mass sprint but on a hilly classic, where he went off solo and got the win.
- 2.1 - Semaine Lombardie
Morabito is a runner-up on the first stage and end up 3rd overall.
Conclusion:
A great month for the team. 4 victories, including Magnus Gerhardssons first win. The status as ProContinental should be secured now. We're 7th in the continental rankings. Individually, inside the top-50, Morabito is 18th and Gretsch is 48th.
Transfers:
We have just signed young hopefull cyclist, Miron Serikov, from Ukraine. He's so talented he will become a key rider for us next season.
Incredibly enough we have not found common ground with any cyclists from other teams. And the quality of the riders that are left aren't really impressing. We might only sign youth riders this year.

- 2.1 - Tour of Britain - Stage 8
After 7 stages Gerhardsson have notched a couple of podium places. Before this final Time Trial he's 3rd.
The top-5 look as following:
1. Ben Swift - SKY
2. Francisco Ventoso - MOV + 36"
3. Magnus Gerhardsson - SWI + 54"
4. Manuel Cardoso - MOV + 1,06"
5. Marcel Sieberg - SWI + 1,06"
The stage:
Magnus Gerhardsson is in incredible form and he firmly believes he can gain a minute on Ben Swift on the 20 km Time Trial.
As Magnus starts the stage. Richie Porte has set the fastest time at 27'50". He needs to get over the line in at least 28'38". If slower Richie Porte will take the GC win.
A couple of kilometers in, Magnus can feel he has good legs.
At intermediate check 1, Magnus is placed as number 8. A good time, however he's already 18 seconds behind Porte.
As Ben Swift passes intermediate check 1 he's in 37th position. 39 seconds after Porte. 21 seconds after Magnus
At intermediate check 1 the provisional standings between the three is:
1. Ben Swift
2. Magnus Gerhardsson + 33"
3. Richie Porte + 1,03"
As Gerhardsson enters the final 2 km. Ben Swift passes intermediate check 2. The provisional standings at check 2 is:
1. Ben Swift
2. Magnus Gerhardsson + 25"
3. Richie Porte + 45"
Magnus Gerhardsson gives it all the final 2 kilometers and hopes for the best. His time is 28'22", only 32 seconds behind Stage Winner Richie Porte. Now it's all about Ben Swift. He needs to be slower than 29'16", if Magnus is to win.
Carried home by the crowd, Swift pedals harder than he's ever done the final meters.
He's been feeling the pressure from this unknown swede the last couple of days.
He crosses the lines and looks back at the time. 29'08" .... He's WON!
Magnus Gerhardsson comes in second in the GC, still a nice feast for the 19-year-old swede. |

Frenchman Yannick Podevin completes our signings for the new season.
He's a promising stage racer. He has not been thoroughly scouted, but his current overall makes him a fine signing. |
