I got F1 2012 for PS3, brilliant! It looks very realistic, and the driving is great as well.
Even though I was 600th in the GT Academy this year, so I'm not a noob (not an expert either, though), I find the game, especially in Career mode, really hard.
After the Young Driver Test, which was pretty easy, all possible teams wanted to sign me (including Williams, Force India, Toro Rosso), but I decided to sign for Caterham, because I didn't want too debut in a too fast car.
So, first race, Australia. WHAT THE HELL?
After trying 3 times, I managed to qualify 24th with a 1 second gap to number 23, which seems okay for a first time.
But then, race day. I started using half my KERS and by braking late in the first corner, I was 16th (iirc). Then the second corner I did the same, 7th now, caused a little crash, luckily no penalty or whatsoever. But seriously, what?! After the first 2 corners, the field stretches out a little, and suddenly the AI gain about 3 seconds a lap on me.
So after a few laps, me, in my Caterham for fucks sake, driving in 7th position, with 17 cars in line behind me, and in front of me a gap of almost 20 seconds. Trulli-train, anybody?
Well, that's asking for problems, and that's why I never managed to do more than 10 laps. But oh snap, I need to do 15. Also, no flashbacks in Career mode, every single mistake is fatal.
So yeah, after 2 days of trying it, about 3 hours I think, I still have to finish my first race.
Codemasters, chapeau, for making this extremely realistic game. Reminds me of Grand Prix Legends, in terms of how realistic the car feels.
Also, I installed it on my dad's new PC, it can run the game at about 30 fps with everything on High (or Ultra, if possible) and 8F16X EQAA multisampling. I also installed 2xHD textures for the tracks and cars, real steering wheels and HD Track Updates (tarmac, grass, gravel, rumbles, walls, tracklines, rain etc.), the game still runs fine!
Seriously, graphic wise, this game is absolutely stunning, even more when driving the McLaren in the rain in Singapore. The lighting effects, car reflection and the detailed raindrops on the car... it just looks photorealistic.

That looks great..
Might have to consider to buy it
+1
Do you use a "normal" controller?
That's cause i've got the normal controller for XBOX and i haven't buy it as i'm not sure it's good playing with it.
I use a regular PS3 controller, but I think my father still has a wheel compatible with PS3, only problem is that it needs to be on a table, and in front of the TV there is no table...
Wack everything onto full, damage, legend, no flashbacks etc.
Force India
Race 1 Australia - Quali 24th, Race 1st
I spent all of quali just mucking about getting used to the game. Got up to 10th by the end of the first lap. Ran away in the final 4 laps
Race 2 Malaysia - Quali 3rd, Race 1st
Led from turn 2 to the line.
Race 3 China - Quali 1st, Race 1st
My god this was a dull race. Flag to Flag
Race 4 Bahrain - Quali 18th, Race 3rd
Decided to only quali on primes once. Would have been first but took a penalty when Massa hit me
Race 5 Spain - Quali 1st, Race 4th
Wet race, and stayed on wets 5 laps too long. 2 seconds covered the top 5 at the line...
No matter what i do i can't seem to make it hard.
You can gain 10+ places on lap 1, then by running prime then option you can gain 3-4 seconds a lap at the end of the race easily.
Now i run only primes (-1 lap at the end for options), refuse to overtake on lap 1, only run lean fuel setting, and set the car up to understeer so i cant go fast.
so Race 6 Monaco - Quali 24th, Race 6th.... hmm need a new plan clearly.

The fact why they can never make a realistic racing game is because you will ride way more aggresive on your PS3 than you ever would in real life, because if you ride like that in real life you might get yourself killed.

That would be true if i ever crashed, but the physics are too forgiving, especially after the latest patches.
But also rFactor, iRacing and even the Race series manage realistic racing. Codies go for arcade and as a result its just too easy.
