The teams next race is the Giro del Capo, a hilly South African race with two time trials, one over undulating terrain.
Team for Giro del Capo
We will be looking to do well overall with our signing, Jure Kocjan, he has a strong time trial and is only average in the hills but his strong sprint should be able to counter some of that.

The Giro del Capo opens with a short prologue which was won by Olman of SouthAustralia.com from Castro and Botero of Columbia es Passion and UNE - Orbitel respectively. Our best rider was Maximov who finished 6th. Kocjan finished 16th which he was a it disappointed with but he is not yet in great shape.

After decent performances by the team in yesterdays time trial we would be looking for a strong ride today to try to move Kocjan into the top 10.
A break including Darren Lapthorne tried to get away on the first hill but were pulled back into the fold as riders attacked from the pack to try and claim the mountain sprint in which Lapthorne took full points.
The attacks began again following the descent and a group of 13 riders formed
The break did their usual get a lead and get pulled back in thing and were caught shortly after the final intermediate sprint which Gianluca Coletta still had the strength to take out.
The final climb began and Kocjan decided to try and begin the attacks but he was still severely out of form (fitness under 60) and was forced to try and set a quick pace on the pack to prevent other riders attacks.
An attack was launched and this looked important as it was started by one of the best riders in the continental tour, Botero of Uni Orbitel
Botero still looked strong as his leading group of three passed under the Flamme Rouge but would he be able to fend off his fellow breakees some of whom were good sprinters.
Botero claimed first with Kannemeyer and Castro taking the remaining podium places. Botero also takes the overall lead and must be a big favorite to wear it till the finish.
Results
Our best place rider for the day was Kocjan who came in at a disappointing 23rd but he is riding into form so should be able to ride into a higher placing by the conclusion of the tour.

The next stage of the South African race is a hilly circuit with plenty of king of the mountains points on offer, a jersey we may target as we seem out of our depth in the GC.

The attacks started before the first hill on the circuit with Valeri Valinin joining them to try and fulfill our new objective of claiming the climbers jersey, however he had to settle for second in the first available points behind the Canadian, Fairall.
He was feeling better at the second hill and was able to take full points as he led the group strongly, at this stage there were a few riders in between the break and the peloton, including one group of eight who were trying to bridge up.
By the third time around the circuit Valeri was starting to feel the pinch and was unable to take more pints as Lapthorne led the group over the hill.
with about 25km disaster struck, thanks to Kocjan's lack of form and not feeling to flash on the day he was dropped into a groupetto and would be out of contention overall. Our only other rider still with the main pack, Seledkov was about to drop back to help his leader but I radioded him to tell him to maintain his place and ride for himself, he would now lead the squad.
With all the chaos for our team we had missed an attack by the Barloworld rider Cheula who had a sizable advantage.
Botero responded and easily left the front of the pack to try and chase Cheula (who was at + 1'39"
as he took the final mountain points, Cheula had a 1'08" lead over Botero who was still about 40 seconds clear of the peloton.
Due to some issues with the South African production companies we had no footage of the arrival of either Cheula (who won) or Botero (who took second) but the coverage was up in time to see the next group roll in and we were happy to see our new leader Seledkov sprint well to claim 9th.
He remains in 23rd overall, with not even cheula gaining time on any of the favorites today as everything was brought back together in the sprint. Valinin is ranked 4th in the Mountain Jersey competition but needs only 5 points tomorrow to wear it for the team.

Another hilly stage faces the team in South Africa and with only a time trial and a flat stage remaining we would need to make a move today if we wanted to move up in the GC or take the mountains jersey.

The wind was blowing a gale today and Uni Orbitel were piling the pressure on which led to the unusual situation of no breaks being able to get away. This wasn't a good thing for us as although Valinin tried valiantly to break away he kept getting pulled back and looked as though he would not be able to take the climbers jersey. The peloton contested the first mountain points and Arreitunanda attacked to take first while Kocjan claimed 4 points as a pick me up after his disappointing race.
We were no where to be seen at the top of the second hill as Arreitunanda again took the points.
We were desperate for some sort of bonus in a race that had gone poorly for us on a day that wasn't looking much better so i sent Kocjan and Seledkov to take 2nd and 3rd behind Cheula in the intermediate sprint.
Following the sprint, Seledkov who was riding strongly, managed to get a 20 second buffer between himself and the pack nad held it up to the final rise. The excitement was rising in the team car as we thought that today might be our day. These hopes were eclipsed however by Botero, as he eased away from the pack and sped past Seledkov with Castro on his wheel.
Botero continued his domination and not even Castro could keep up.
He even had time to safely celebrate before he crossed the finish line.
Seledkov slowed up a bit after being passed but still rolled in for a respectable 9th.
Results
Another fantastic performance by Botero which basically assures his victory as tomorrows time trial is under 5kms long which he should win anyway. Seledkov moved up 4 places and we were happy to see him 19th, inside the top 20!

A short but undulating time trial which represents our final chance to slide up a couple of positions in the classification. The course is not long enough for Botero to lose his overall lead and even if it was he is a very strong time trialler so it would be unlikely anyway.
I did play the stage but didnt do any screenshots of the riders so here are the results:
A great ride for Valinin to just miss out on a podium after missing out on the climbers jersey. Seledkov also rode well to get 10th, will it be enough to move him up a few places?
He couldn't make it into the top ten but moves up into 18th, perhaps he will try something on the flat stage tomorrow.

A flat stage with a couple of small hills will wrap up the Giro del Capo
Due to technical issues the team was unavailable to get any coverage of the race so we will head straight to the results.
The stage was won by Capacho, who parted from the break to win by over a minute, moving up into third position. Hunter led the rest of the pack home while Seledkov finished 16th as he faded after a last attack in the final ten kilometres. He would finish 18 places behind Botero, in 19th as Jorgenson who shared the same time would finish higher in the pack.
PODIUM
S. Botero - Uni Orbitel - 1st
A. Castro - Colombia es Pasion - 2nd
O. Capacho - Colombia es Pasion - 3rd

Time for the teams next race and their first one day race of the season.
Paris Troyes
A mostly flat race with a few small hills near that finish that could ruin the chances of some of the weaker sprinters.
Seledkov will lead the team and should be ably supported by Kocjan who is still not in form.
