Moving it to a more earlier season slot would make it more of a option for many teams
Agree. No WT races in February. Would be a great slot for Tirreno.
Who would want to be in form for a WT race in February though? Moving to February would improve in terms of not clashing with another WT race, but would be a step back in everything else, specially in big names contending the race.
I agree and there is also the weather problem, as there was problem with snow in March, it could be even worse in February...

A bit off-topic but can i ask if somebody knows more about how can weight loss ( cavendish case especially, 3-4 kilos) influence his top speed? Also is there is some scientific article about how the power and muscles are used for sprint so that weight reduction can make you slower sprinter but faster going uphill?
My friend is interested in this and i am not able to answer all his questions from scientific point of view.
Thanks in advance...
I suppose other people have as much if not more knowledge than me on the matter, but I'll give my two cents.
First of all, it depends on what kind of mass you lose. Lose one or two bones and you can't ride anymore. Lose only fat mass and you'll climb faster, but also climb faster. Lose muscle say, in the arms (hard to lose 3 or 4 kg there, but still), and you'll climb faster, and probably sprint faster too.
Lose muscles in the legs, and you'll probably lose a little top end speed, but will climb better, given your mass has decreased, but you have not harmed your muscles of course (don't try with a knife : won't work ).
Then there are other factors : as I've written many times, it's not track cycling we're talking about. Road sprinters would be crap against the likes of Baugé, Hoy, etc. with their current condition. Why ? Because to be the fastest at the end of a road race, you need to be present there, and fresh enough to sprint. If you can't climb a speed bump (Marcel Kittel says : "Hello" , or if that tires you too much, you won't be able to deliver. So, that's a compromise to find.
Maybe you were asking for something like Watts per kilogramme of muscle though. I don't know if it works like that, I mean I don't know if it's supposed to be constant through a variation of muscular mass, especially for explosive efforts. Maybe anyone with a more specific knowledge could answer that ?
Thanks, this is enough of an answer. And Cav winning yesterday was also a good answer, he probably did not lost the sprinting leg muscles, maybe rather some fat

Yeah, probably burned all that holiday fat that we noticed at the start of the season

Didn't look at it greatly, but there's new and more climbs as well as Striling and Willunga remain.
Looks very interesting. More chance for breakaways and climbers, less for sprinters. |

Looks like one added stage that'll cause gaps. More exciting, hopefully some better riders will come down to Australia instead of San Luis fe.
I think they should replace the final circuit of Adelaide with a 20km TT. Would be awesome.

More on that new Schleck team that was discussed in News in June. Voigt pretty much confirms it.

I heard the german company is Alpecin and that might be very true, as they are sponsoring here some races and teams (don't know how to translate the Jedermann races in english..) and sponsors Jan Ullrich.
Alpecin is a company that makes some medicine against loss of hair..
Around 2002 Alpecin was at the headlines when a footballer was found positive and said it was the medicine Alpecin made as he was/is bold.. So their commercials are about "Doping for the hairs, just for the hairs"
So they might get Leipheimer and Horner

That does indeed look much more interesting. It will be intersting to see who goes, because that is a rather tough climb to call.

Team GB for Olympics :
Mark Cavendish
Chris Froome ( Time Trial )
David Millar
Ian Stannard
Bradley Wiggins ( Time Trial )
Basically the strongest team they could field. Good decision in my view picking Froome over Millar in TT too.

So a 270km TTT with Cavendish not doing any work, then release the beast in the last 200m?

Just to be passed by all-alone riding Sagan at 150m remaining?

But then they'll all crash and Arashiro will win. Just like in the worlds.

Pfff, as if Arashiro needed others to crash to get a win. He's much better than that.

Didn't find this news yet:
https://nos.nl/art...trong.html
Looks like 6 riders (Leipheimer, Zabriskie, Vandevelde & Hincapie and 2 others) confess doping usage, but for giving information about Armstrong, they will be suspended for 6 months in september. Also Jonathan Vaughters has cooperated....
