I guess the hills was too hard for sprinters. Oh well. Nice with the KOM jersey for a day.

Nice action from our D2 boys and we had 5!! riders in the top 25 in the end. Way to go guys!
I hope Van Niekerk will be useful for our leader or he will jump into the breaks.

So close for Sousa, but i can´t complain about a podium. Also nice to see my riders attacking a lot.

Seems like Simon Clarke is set as Oz's sprinter and the whole team waited for him, when he got dropped.. bad start.

Great stuff from our team on a flat stage, eventhough our sprinter didn't sprint. Hopefully Duenas Nevado can continue to participate in breakaways, it could prove very useful on a mountain stage. |

TEAM D2 SHINES on STAGE #1
Team D2 places three (3) riders in the top 25 and all seven riders in the top40. David Belda (Kingspan) is 14th in the GC +0'20. Kristjan Fajt (Pivovarna-Lasko) is 22nd in the GC and +0'20. Dennis Van Niekerk (Metinvest-Slovnoft) is 24th in the GC and +0'20.
Charles Wegelius (Dyson) was steady all day and is 26th in the GC and also +0'20. As is Tony Colby (AMEX), who rode much of the day in the breakaway and only faded in the last kilometer. Colby is 30th and +0'20. Angel Mangel (Alstom-Bic) put in a solid attack late in the race attempting to bridge from the peleton to the breakaway. Mangel is 39th in the GC. Iban Iriondo (UPC) is holding 40th place and like all of the D2 team +0'20.
David Belda claimed 7 points in the Sprint classification for his work in the breakaay and Tony Colby garnered 2 points in the Mountian classification.
Team 2 is currently ranked 3.
Solid - Solid performances by the whole D2 team. |

Wow, that's a pretty good performance for us. Good to see the D2 team is bothered this time!

Vespa's 'sprinters' both expertly drop out of the lead group on a flat stage, leaving Gabriele Bosisio to sprint to 8th position.
Hang about - I wonder if he did get the EPO boost to his stats? |

Great start to the race for us, after to weird stages. Nice to see Agudelo fighting it out with the big guns, though, it looks like he must admit he isn't quite at their level, and I suspect that will show on stage 3. Great to have the rest of my climbing team in the peloton aswell.
Hopefully Duenas Nevado wants to give the overall favourites a real fight for the polkadot, attacking early is the way to do it, and I can only cross fingers he can keep it up.
Nice report, Mresuperstar, and also nice to see the D2 team ride offensive, definitely proving their abilities. |

Rolland still in the mix, and surprisingly all-climbers podiums in such stages. Will be interesting to see whether some unexpected time bonuses make the difference in the end.

lol. Jeannesson, Colex and Ghyllebert lose 5 minutes. Hopefully they jump in the breaks now. Ghyllebert has a stage win under his belt this season, and another would go a long way to closing the gap to 10.
