Nice jersey Looking forward to seeing the team.
I wish I could now, but I'm away from my PCM computer. What I can tell you now though, is 5 riders who are definitely on the team, and a new question for you all to answer!
What race do you wish each of these star riders to peak for this season? Strictly one classic or stage race per rider.
- Salvatore Puccio (80 COB)
- Ben Swift (79 SP 80 ACC)
- Fillipo Pozzatto (82 COB 76 HIL)
- Thomas De Gendt (76 MO 77 TT)
- Sergio Henao (77 MO+HIL)
What single race should each of these riders peak for? Puccio for De Ronde? Swift to the Giro? Henao aims for Liege?

No comments. I guess it was a quiet night on this site by the looks of it.
Anyway, let's get some votes! I promise I will do the team presentation in 5 hours at most.

Thanks sutty. But Puccio has almost no chance whatsoever in LBL, he has 80 COB, about 68 HIL and nothing else much.

I don't think you're getting it. The only way he could get even a top-20 at AGR would be in a break. He's a strict cobbled specialist.

Thanks for the comments and votes guys. It was a little disappointing not getting more votes, so I may ditch the voting since I need more than a few people voting each time. Anyway, the team pres will be up very soon since I'm back on my PCM computer.

Good that Henao is doing the Vuelta, he has a great chance there, especially if he's still fit then. |

Turns out some of the stats I guessed there were a little off, but that doesn't change anything. I'm writing up the Team Pres now, it'll be up soon.

Before I reveal the team for 2014, I'll give a quick overview of the 2012 and 13 seasons with Team Sky, and the transfers that took place each year.
2012
The 2012 season was huge, with expectations high. Coming off his 2011 Vuelta 2nd place, Chris Froome would ride the Giro, going for the win. Bradley Wiggins was aiming, once again, for the Tour de France. J.A. Flecha was the cobbles leader, finally looking for success, while riders like Geraint Thomas, Salvatore Puccio and Sergio Henao all worked on improving and becoming the world class riders they are now. And of course the fastest man on two wheel Mark Cavendish was here, with the MSR and Tour on his agenda. Here are the major results...
Mark Cavendish | Milano San Remo | 1st | | Tour De France | Points + 3 Stages | Bradley Wiggins | Tour de France | 5th Overall | | Vuelta a Espana | 8th Overall | | Dauphine | 2nd Overall | | Paris-Nice | 2nd Overall | | World ITT Champs | 1st | Chris Froome | Giro d'Italia | 1st Overall | | Vuelta a Espana | 7th Overall | | Il Lombardia | 1st | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Tour De France | Stage Win | | Eneco Tour | 1st Overall | | GP Ouest France | 1st | | GP Montreal | 1st | | GP Quebec | 1st |
A truly great season. The highlight is Froome's amazing Giro win, where he was 2nd overall to Nibali until the final TT when he earned the jersey. The MSR win with Cav was terrific too, while Top-5 at the Tour was a shame for Wiggins, but sufficient. And of course other great results. Here are the transfers that were made the next offseason...
In | Out | Fabio Duarte | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Greg Van Avermaet | Chris Sutton | David Veilleux | Xabier Xandio | David Boily | Christian Knees | | Jeremy Hunt | | |
Some big transfers, all riders that will develop to be true stars in the future. As for the lost riders, EBH is a huge loss. But a feud between the Norwegian and the team manager Teddy, he was cut from the team at the end of the season. Sutton and Knees were both big losses too, while Xandio and Hunt were easily replaced.
2013
The 2013 season was a mixed bag. Some of the stars of the team were getting older (Wiggins, Flecha) while others were finally blooming (Henao, Kennaugh), and Cav was still Cav in the final year of his contract.
Mark Cavendish | Milano San Remo | 2nd | | Tour De France | Points + 5 Stages | Bradley Wiggins | Giro d'Italia | 2nd Overall | | Vuelta a Espana | 2nd Overall | Juan Antonio Flecha | De Ronde van Vlaanderen | 1st | Peter Kennaugh | Tour de Romandie | King of the Mountains | Sergio Henao | Vuelta a Espana | 14th Overall |
Although a smaller list of exploits, we can be just as proud with the results. Mark Cavendish was his usual self, coming up just short in San Remo, but absolutely dominating in Le Tour, winning 5 stages and the coveted green jersey in Paris. As for Wiggins, he was in career best form, and came painfully close to winning the Giro/Vuelta double. But just beaten by two rampaging Italians, Ivan Basso in the Giro, and Damiano Cunego in the Vuelta. He was pretty devastated, and was thinking of a change of scenery come the off-season. JA Flecha of course won that coveted monument he had always been after, with an awesome solo effort to take the Tour of Flanders crown. Kennaugh and Heano also put in great performances.
Out | In | Mark Cavendish | Fillipo Pozzato | Juan Antonio Flecha | Cadel Evans | Kanstantin Siutsou | Thomas De Gendt | Lars-Petter Nordhaug | John Gadret | Rigoberto Uran | Sebastien Rosseler | Michael Rogers | Daniel Teklahaimanot | | Bob Jungels | | Enrico Magazzini |
When Sky announced that they would no longer support a pro cycling team, all hope seemed lost for a ProTour team in Britain. Until British Airways came in, and along with Het Nieuwsblad, made an extreme makeover of the team, dumping many of their stars, and starting a new, with the huge signings of Cadel Evans, Thomas De Gendt, John Gadret and Fillipo Pozzato, as well as the signatures of young stars Teklahaimanot, Jungels and Magazzini.

The team's ultimate leaders, these guys will ride the biggest races, with the biggest goals. Here they are...
Fillippo Pozzato
10/09/81, Italy
The veteran cobbler, Pippo Pozzato joins the team after two seasons of rejuvenated riding. With his experience and will to win, Pippo will be our number one leader in most races he rides, but will have to take a back seat in some classics to our other cobble-man, this time a litte younger...
Salvatore Puccio
31/08/89, Italy
Salvatore has been on the team since the start of his pro-career, and is now, at age 24, near the peak of his career. After a 5th place in last years De Ronde, the little man from Italy is ready to shine, and despite Pozzato being on the team, he has been promised the leaders role in the Paris - Roubaix, and he has even more room to improve.
Cadel Evans
14/02/77, Australia
Another veteran, former TdF winner Cadel Evans may not be the same rider of his Tour winning days, but he is still undeniably one of the world's better stage racers, and the team's Giro d'Italia leader. His climbing skills are still top-notch, although his TT ability has taken a slight dip.
Sergio Henao
10/12/87, Colombia
The bright star of Colombia, Sergio has developed into the climber he had always thought to become. After top-15 at La Vuelta last season, going a couple steps better, and jumping into the top-5 is a big goal for him.
Chris Froome
20/05/85, Great Britain
The second Grand Tour champion on the team, Christopher Froome is ready to win his second. Although it will be tough, the 28 year old Froome will lead at Le Tour de France, Le Grand Boucle! He doesn't excel at time-trialling, or climbing, but is very good at both, and will do his very best.
Ben Swift
05/11/87, Great Britain
He was hailed as the next Mark Cavendish, and although he isn't quite there yet, he is ready to win his first GT stage and finally reach that level. An awesome sprinter now in his own right, the Giro d'Italia and the Tour of Britain are his goals.
Free Riders
At any other team, they could be absolute leaders. But here these guys will ride for the team's leaders, as well as riding for themselves in smaller races.
Thomas De Gendt
06/11/86, Belgium
Yet to perform in the way he should, De Gendt is about to change from a breakaway specialist and fan favourite to bonafide superstar stage-racer. He has all the ingredients of a GT winner, highlighted by his amazing recovery skills. Watch out for him as he will have his chance to ride for himself.
Davide Appollonio
02/06/89, Italy
It might sound strange for a 24 year old, but Appo-Jet is another Sky veteran. Finally reaching his potential as a sprinter, Davide will go to La Vuelta this year after countless failures at the Giro.
Richie Porte
30/01/85, Australia
Another great rider reaching his potential, Richie has the chance to be a GT winner in the future in the mould of Bradley Wiggins, as an awesome time-trialist. This year he rides the Giro, and will be in his best form come the World ITT Champs later in the year too.
John Gadret
22/04/79, France
After many pundits saw the French veteran going into the Conti circuit for 2014, BA - Het Niuewsblad picked him up at the last minute. He still has tons to give as a great climber, and will be Chris Froome's co-leader at Le Tour as well as helping out in the Giro.
Greg Van Avermaet
17/05/85, Belgium
A great puncheur, GVA will be Henao's number one domestique in the Ardenne's classics, and the big helper on the Cobbles too. Yet to earn that big win, but this may be his year to shine.
Fabio Duarte
11/06/86, Colombia
Fabio is about to pounce, but he is a late-bloomer, and will reach his peak in a couple years most people say. He is an awesome climber, but needs to improve his stage-racing skills to jump to that contending level.
Young Riders
Geraint Thomas
25/05/86, Great Britain
Peter Kennaugh
15/06/89, Great Britain
Luke Rowe
10/03/90, Great Britain
Daniel Teklahaimanot
10/11/88, Eritrea
Bob Jungels
22/09/92, Luxembourg
Enrico Magazzini
27/04/88, Italy

Pozzato will have a good helper in Van Avermaet and Thomas. |

Great team, but aren't you scared that too many good riders will cause a fight for leadership and thus weaker performances?
