okay we move on to our only race in March, before that I want to announce our newest signings
Aleksandr Serebriakov
Tomas Danculovic
Aleksei Saramotins
Paval Obsitnik (Neo, will join us next year)
Ludek Trpisovsky (Neo, will join us next year)
It's raining rain in Italy where alot of Eastern European and small Italian teams make up the starting field. For Sparta Praha Bole is the leader with Stybar having a free role. Early on we do want to be in the break and the young Russian Aleksei Kunshin makes sure he is present in the break which consists of 10 riders.
Kunshin drinks some water as they go up the first difficult climb of the day
But the break never really gets enough room but they do stay up front for a long time since the pack stops working everytime when they almost got 'em. But just when they are about to get caught Kunshin falls in a corner but luckily he is unharmed and can go on. Because of another crash up front by Trentin it is Gazvoda who suddenly finds himself up front with 60 kms to go...
Left: Kunshin loses control of his bike and falls, Right: Gazvoda on his own now
But as expected also gazvoda gets taken in and then its time for the favorites to do their job, it are Bencik and Zrimsek who start it off and soon Torres Durango, Bole and Bragazzi follow but Bencik and Zrimsek have the strongest jump and they lead with 25 kms to go
Left: Zrimsek and Bencik up front while Torres gets some help from a motorbike, Right: Bole in pursuit
After a while Bragazzi joins Bole as they try to get closer but they would never reach Bencik and Zrimsek
Zrimsek and Bencik approaching the final climb, Torres Durango has joined them
But on the final climb Torres Durango meets the man with the hammer, in the back even Bole and Bragazzi ride past Torres while Stybar joins his teammate after attacking on the final climb. The 2 Sparta's would end 4th and 5th. Up front Zrimsek looked strong but Bencik was even stronger and won
Left: Bragazzi, Bole and Stybar onto the final KM, Right: Bencik wins after a rainy day
Result:
1. Petr Bencik PSK WHIRLPOOL HRADEC KRALOVE 3h52'08
2. Jure Zrimsek ADRIA MOBIL - KRKA + 14

Off to Poland for a Criterium where we just want to win some cash
A flat criterium and our goal is to get in a succesfull break with 2 guys so that we atleast win back the 1900-, euros we had to pay to get here And we succeed in doing so, a 14 man break gets away with Kesl and Pucelik representing Sparta Praha. Also Radenska and Amore e Vita got 2 guys in the break and these teams do have an advantage because of that.
Kesl does his job in the break which will for sure make it
No one really attempts to break away and so its down to a sprint, there is no real favorite in the group but who knows what our 'hide and seek' specialist from Poland, Szafraniak can do? We use Kesl to launch Pucelik but he isnt fast enough and Pucelik is behind Stoica who is probably working for Kovalev...but where is the strong Russian? Meanwhile Radenska doesnt seem to care as the sprint in the back...
Left: Stoica is up front with Pucelik next to him, Right: Pucelik goes!
But it doesnt seem like Pucelik will make it as everyone gets closer...however no one attempts to take him down and it looks like Pucelik will get our first win!
Pucelik...just made it! No ct points but still a nice win!
Result:
1. Petr Pucelik AC SPARTA PRAHA 2h39'52
2. Michal Trunec NCH TEAM CUBE s.t.
3. Milan Kadlec ASC DUKLA PRAHA s.t.
4. Lukasz Kacorzyk MICHE s.t.
5. Ivan Kovalev AMORE & VITA - MCDONALD'S s.t.
6 Michal Kesl AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
7 Tomasz Zywer CCC POLSAT POLKOWICE s.t.
8 Vasili Khatuntsev MOSCOW STARS s.t.
9 Marius Nicolae Stoica AMORE & VITA - MCDONALD'S s.t.
10 Radek Becka PSK WHIRLPOOL HRADEC KRALOVE s.t.
11 Szymon Szafraniak MAPAMAP - BANTPROFI s.t.
12 Mats Willam HEINZ VON HEIDEN - FOCUS s.t.
13 Robert Vrecer RADENSKA POWERBAR s.t.
14 Andrej Tehovnic RADENSKA POWERBAR s.t.

its been a while but the story continues!
Our leaders here are Bole and Stybar while Kunshin has a free role, in this first stage Kunshin finds himself in a breakaway after taking the 6 boni seconds, the break gets lots of room and all of a sudden Kunshin finds himself in a position where he can easily take the win and the leadersjersey. In the sprint he looks out for Ravard and then almost gets surprised by Mortensen but the young Russian still does what he is supposed to do.
Left: The Group approaches the finish, Right: Kunshin wins today's stage!
Result:
01. Aleksej Kunshin AC SPARTA PRAHA 3h08'35
02. Martin Mortensen TEAM DESIGNA KØKKEN s.t.
03. Kurt Dierckx PROFEL ZIEGLER CONTINENTAL TEAM s.t.
04. Rick Fransen TEAM LÖWIK MEUBELEN s.t.
05. Julien Guay VENDÉE U - PAYS DE LA LOIRE s.t.
06. Anthony Ravard AGRITUBEL s.t.
07. Mart van Blanken CYCLINGTEAM JO PIELS s.t.
08. Hans Bloks CYCLINGTEAM JO PIELS + 1'33
09. Ruslan Sambris VC LA POMME MARSEILLE s.t.
10. Marc Lotz TEAM LÖWIK MEUBELEN s.t.
Not such a difficult stage to defend the jersey but with only 5 helpers it is more difficult, a group gets away and we manage to keep the gap down to 5 mins, nevertheless someone from the break would win as he beated the up and coming pack. Todays winner:
Left: The break goes trough its final corners, Right: Rene Hooghiemster is the winner
Result:
01. René Hooghiemster TEAM LÖWIK MEUBELEN 3h41'31
02. Guillaume de Gasquet VC LA POMME MARSEILLE s.t.
03. Gert Jõeääre VENDÉE U - PAYS DE LA LOIRE s.t.
04. Frank Dressler CONTINENTAL CYCLING TEAM DIFFERDANGE s.t.
05. Sascha Damrow THÃœRINGER ENERGIE TEAM s.t.
06. Svein Erik Vold TEAM MAXBO BIANCHI s.t.
07. Benoît Sinner AGRITUBEL s.t.
08. Geert van der Sanden CYCLINGTEAM JO PIELS s.t.
09. David Tanner VC LA POMME MARSEILLE s.t.
10. Aleksej Kunshin AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
In order to defend Kunshin's jersey we did the same as yesterday, however this day only 3 riders got away and they weren't a threat...however Sparta Praha had to do everything to make sure they werew caught with 3 kms to go! We get our first sprint and luckily for us Ravard doesnt get boni seconds. However a teammate of him does. Benoit Sinner wins the sprint with Stybar being the best Spartan.
Left: These 3 managed to hold on for a while, right: Sinner takes the win in the sprint
Result:
01. Benoît Sinner AGRITUBEL 4h23'34
02. Franck Perque CYCLOCLUB DE NOGENT SUR OISE s.t.
03. Sascha Damrow THÃœRINGER ENERGIE TEAM s.t.
04. Anthony Ravard AGRITUBEL s.t.
05. Zdenek Stybar AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
06. Angelo Cocco CONTINENTAL CYCLING TEAM DIFFERDANGE s.t.
07. Svein Erik Vold TEAM MAXBO BIANCHI s.t.
08. David Tanner VC LA POMME MARSEILLE s.t.
09. Aleksej Kunshin AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
10. Geert van der Sanden CYCLINGTEAM JO PIELS s.t.
The final stage, also the hardest and it will most definitely be a tough job to defend Kunshin's 2 minutes that he has over most of the favourites. But in Bole ans Stybar we have 2 great guys to neutralize all attacks. However they did have to look out that they didnt waste Kunshin. Boasson Hagen attacked some times but it was mostly for the KOM points. When some outsiders attacked near the end Bole and Stybar made sure that everyone get back and also Hagen didnt manage to get away. So the jersey is save...maybe a Spartan win on the last stage? Stybar certainly had the legs but had to settle with 3rd place. Hagen was just too strong today as he sprints to victory after coming from far and passing by Perque in the final metres. But the overall win is for Aleksej Kunshin which is a pleasant surprise!
Left: Hagen was active all day, Right: Hagen still had some energy left and takes a nice sprint win
Result:
01. Edvald Boasson Hagen TEAM MAXBO BIANCHI 4h37'13
02. Franck Perque CYCLOCLUB DE NOGENT SUR OISE s.t.
03. Zdenek Stybar AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
04. Cédric Coutouly AGRITUBEL s.t.
05. Marc Lotz TEAM LÖWIK MEUBELEN s.t.
06. Ruslan Sambris VC LA POMME MARSEILLE s.t.
07. Aleksej Kunshin AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
08. Mikel Gaztañaga AGRITUBEL s.t.
09. Grega Bole AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
10. Gabriel Rasch TEAM MAXBO BIANCHI s.t.
FINAL GC:
01. Aleksej Kunshin AC SPARTA PRAHA 15h50'23
02. Anthony Ravard AGRITUBEL + 18
03. Martin Mortensen TEAM DESIGNA KØKKEN + 56

Btw the report for the Giro Delle Region U23 will be the same but to make the reports realistic for you and more fun for myself I will only put the U23 riders in the screens and results. So no Moos, or Muller etc only u23 riders will end up in the resultsheet and on the screens

Well as I said earlier, I will avoid oldies in my screens and everyone not U23 will be taken out of the results and since there are no ct points to be earned here it doesnt matter who wins...realism for the win  So even though Moos, Muller, McLachlan and Seledkov are some of the best riders here they will never be mentioned
We have 8 riders who are 23 years old or younger and we bring all of them to Italy. Our goal is to get the KOM jersey for 1 day but we fail :x Nesveda then manages to get in today's break but seeing as is weaker than the rest he has to let go with 21 kms to go and unfortunately for our sprinters the break makes it. After a close sprint it is a Lithuanian win in Fiuggi
Marius Bernatonis wins in front of Tedros and McConell
Result:
01. Marius Bernatonis KLAIPEDA - SPLENDID CYCLING TEAM 2h41'18
02. Robel Tedros TEAM SWIAG TEKA s.t.
03. Daniel McConnell SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS s.t.
04. Matej Vysna DUKLA TRENCIN MERIDA s.t.
05. Blaz Furdi ADRIA MOBIL - KRKA s.t.
06. Stijn Neirynck WIELERGROEP BEVEREN 2000 s.t.
07. Travis Allen TEAM KONICA MINOLTA s.t.
08. Anders Berendt Hansen TEAM GLS s.t.
09. Juan Pablo Forero COLOMBIA ES PASIÓN TEAM + 1'23
10. Roman Maksimov MOSCOW STARS s.t.
15. Zdenek Stybar AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
A tough stage, and again we fail to get in the break as only our super weak riders get the OK from the pack :x So we chase the group ourselves but doesnt work aswell. In the pack there are no attacks from the favs and Stybar doesnt mind as a sprint would mean a good result for him. He looks to go for the win but in the final metres Alexandre Aulas gets past him and wins the stage and takes over the GC!
Stybar went too early and Aulas takes advantage of the situation and wins!
Result:
01. Alexandre Aulas AG2R CHAMBÉRY CYCLISME FORMATION 4h19'09
02. Zdenek Stybar AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
03. Joze Senekovic ADRIA MOBIL - KRKA s.t.
04. William Ford SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS s.t.
05. Rob Ruijgh RABOBANK CONTINENTAL s.t.
06. Shaun Lewis SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS s.t.
07. Chris Froome TEAM KONICA MINOLTA s.t.
08. Wes Sulzberger SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS + 1'39
09. Cyril David AG2R CHAMBÉRY CYCLISME FORMATION s.t.
10. Frederik Nolf WIELERGROEP BEVEREN 2000 s.t.
Yes I know Froome is Kenyan I just dont have a Kenyan flag and after trying many times I gave up ops:
Today we wanted to get closer to the KOM jersey and so Kunshin got away in a group and after getting 10 points in total he still has to get 12 more to get even. The break got alot of room but in the final km's several favourites took them down and Kunshin and Sagan were the only ones who were found back in the top 10. Aulas seemed to be the best again but after Stybar had attacked on the final hill Aulas couldn't get him back and Stybar wins the race and takes over the GC (altough u wont see him wearing the jersey since he doesnt lead for real :x )
Left: Kunshin looking strong in the break, Right: Stybar gets his expected win!
Result:
01. Zdenek Stybar AC SPARTA PRAHA 3h59'32
02. Alexandre Aulas AG2R CHAMBÉRY CYCLISME FORMATION s.t.
03. Shaun Lewis SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS + '55
04. Rob Ruijgh RABOBANK CONTINENTAL s.t.
05. Chris Froome TEAM KONICA MINOLTA s.t.
06. Grega Bole AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.

08. William Ford SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS s.t.
09. Mitch Docker DRAPAC PORSCHE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM s.t.
10. Juraj Sagan DUKLA TRENCIN MERIDA s.t.
Stybar leads the GC with the same time as Aulas and a 1 minute advantage over the others

Well as said, even if I win I wont get any ct points so to keep it realistic for you I leave them out of my reports. Also, when e.g. Moos attacks I dont counter him but I ignore him to make it more fun for me but however when an u23 rider attacks I will counter ofcourse

The 4th out of 7 stages which looks like the toughest one but after we have had the climb of the day we still have 90 kms of flat terrain with some small bumps in it. To take over the KOM jersey we send Kunshin into the break, he would take it but unfortunately our sponsors didnt acknowledge it On the climb he is accompanied by Vandewalle and Sulzberger who both, with Kunshin, maintain a very nice pace after the climb, they work well and their advantage is so big they will make it unless they all crack and Kunshin might even take over the lead from fellow teammate Stybar! The lead stays quite big and then right after Sulzberger and Kunshin got rid of Vandewalle they sprint for the win and they close a little deal. Kunshin the lead, Sulzberger the stage after he and Vandewalle worked really well
Left: The 3 started their adventure early, Right: Sulzberger takes no risks and sprints till the end
Result:
01. Wes Sulzberger SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS 4h31'32
02. Aleksej Kunshin AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
03. Kristof Vandewalle WIELERGROEP BEVEREN 2000 +'45

07. Alexandre Aulas AG2R CHAMBÉRY CYCLISME FORMATION s.t.

09. William Germán RodrÃguez Parra COLOMBIA ES PASIÓN TEAM s.t.
10. Julien Bérard AG2R CHAMBÉRY CYCLISME FORMATION s.t.
This morning I took a look at the GC and this is what I saw:
1. Aleksej Kunshin AC SPARTA PRAHA 15h35'10
2. Zdenek Stybar AC SPARTA PRAHA + '38
3. Alexandre Aulas AG2R CHAMBÉRY CYCLISME FORMATION + '44
4. Joze Senekovic ADRIA MOBIL - KRKA + 1'41
5. Shaun Lewis SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS s.t.
And so after a night with almost no sleep because of thunderstorms this still put a smile on my face, a break got away today with no real threats and so we put the pressure on the sprinter teams. Every now and then we had to co operate because the lead became a bit too insane. In the end the break made it with a 2 minute lead. Originally they were with 5 but after Moucheraud and Allen had to let go it was a battle between Tedros who already ended 2nd in the first stage, Frey and O'Brien, O'Brien was the best sprinter and even though his teammates were working in the pack it would still be a good day for them as he beats Frey, Tedros has to settle with a 3rd place after his 2nd place in stage 1
O'Brien takes the win in Lodi! (David Meys and Nelson Vitorino were 1 lap behind  )
Result:
01. Mark O'Brien DRAPAC PORSCHE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 2h48'35
02. Sebastian Frey TEAM SPARKASSE s.t.
03. Robel Tedros TEAM SWIAG TEKA s.t.
04. Paul Moucheraud AG2R CHAMBÉRY CYCLISME FORMATION + 1'33

09. Zdenek Stybar AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
10. Roman Maksimov MOSCOW STARS s.t.
A ITT which was simmed mainly because our team lacks TT equipment, Kunshin lost his lead but luckily for us he lost it to Stybar as Sparta Praha is still 1-2. Aulas loses his 3rd place to William Ford while Senekovic and Froome are now respectively 4th and 5th. Today's winner is Rodriguez Parra
Result:
01. William Germán RodrÃguez Parra COLOMBIA ES PASIÓN TEAM 13'35
02. William Ford SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS + 3
03. Thom van Dulmen RABOBANK CONTINENTAL + 10

The last stage and the GC was already safe for us...so we didnt bother working. Berard left with 80 kms to go, no one bothered to chase him down and so he won! But also we have something to celebrate as Stybar wins and Kunshin ends 2nd
Berard wins the final stage and even overtakes some riders who already lost contact to the pack!

thanks Crommy
now to two 1 day races, the first one was held on the same day as the last Giro Delle Regioni stage so a B squad is send to Poland for the Memorial Andrzeja Trocha... ops:
A weak squad represent us here, and so our only shot at winning here is being present in the right break and we are! Josef Soukop manages to join a break which exists out of 10 riders. Miche and Intel Action try everything they can to catch the break but its impossible. There are no real sprinters in the break but still Soukop is very weak in a sprint. Tehovnic and Krummer decide to breakaway but they both get caught but however, the NCH Cube team would still win, not with Krummer but with Michal Trunec who was unstoppable in the sprint. Soukop is in a louzy position and only manages to beat Krummer and Tehovnic to end 8th.
Left: The break of 10 with Soukop dropping to the back, Right: Trunec wins in Poland!

Stybar is without a doubt here leader here in this cobble race where his only competition comes from a bunch of Dutchies and Belgians plus his fellow country mate Simunek. Since we want to avoid getting surprised we get in a 8 man break with Aleksej Kunshin so that our weak cobble team doesnt have to do anything. Up front the break surprisingly doesnt lose much on the cobble sections even though Palmans and Rabo CT are pulling the pack. Than some favs attack and even though there are still 30 kms to go I see a chance for Stybar, Stybar attacks and is now very close to the break and with 25 kms to go he reaches them as the break + Stybar now had 1 minute over the group of favourites. And here teamwork pays off as Kunshin, who is still quite fresh sets a nice pace on the non-cobble parts but then when the last cobble section is there, and the favs come closer Kunshin stops working and Stybar attacks once more and his lead increases and increases and it seems that our plan worked...Palmans and Rabo CT are tired and Zdenek Stybar wins the 'Omloop der Kempen' --8) Kunshin even manages to end 9th after a hard day at work!
Left: Kunshin has done his job and now Stybar attacks, Right: An easy win for Stybar in Holland!
