Such as the fact that he rides for Wiggle, and has done for 2 seasons now, having previously been on the Control team Pfft

Hence my other post.

Silvio Herklotz (06.05.1994, 1.90m, 69kg):

Great climber and TT-rider (won the Course de la Paix TT in his first year as junior). He dominated cross-races in Germany and finished 6th in the UCI junior ranking even with a late start in the winter season.

Here we go with some of my ideas:

Julien Simon is a Free Agent in the database, perhaps a stat increase after strong results this year including two Volta a Catalunya stages and Top 20's in LBL and Fleche Wallonne.

https://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/...derid=7834

Jean-Christophe Peraud (22/05/1977) is not in the database yet, finished in the Top 10 at the Tour last year and needs no other introduction really. He's a strong climber who can time trial pretty well, as evidenced in the penultimate stage of last years Tour.

https://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/...erid=13635

Sacha Modolo (19/06/1987) is not in the database yet. He's a decent sprinter, who is pretty strong in the hilly stuff as well and finished fourth at MSR two years ago, as well as second in the Olympic Test Event last year.

https://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/...derid=5098

Sergey Firsanov (03/07/1982) is another rider who is not in the database. He won the Vuelta a la Comunidad Madrid this year, after beating the likes of Quintana, Di Gregorio and Moncoutie in a summit finish. He can aslo TT pretty well, finishing only 1-21 behind Tony Martin in the 20km TT at the Ronde van Belgie.

Arnaud Demare is a Free Agent in the database, with only 61 SP. Perhaps a stat increase considering his recent results, at the Giro and in the early season?

Aleksandr Dyachenko (17/10/1983) is not in the database. He was runner up in the Tour of Turkey annd 4th in the Tour de Langkawi, so he's a reasonable climber and not a bad TT'er, although not brilliant.

https://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/...derid=1179

Fabio Taborre (05/06/1985) is not in the database. He's a reasonably good hilly classics rider, who won the memorial Marco Pantani ahead of Rebellin and Dan Martin last year, to give you an idea of his abilities.

https://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/...derid=7331

Laurent Pichon is a Free Agent in the database. At the 4 Jours de Dunkerque he finished with Voeckler and Fedrigo on the hilly stage, so perhaps a boost to his hill stat?

Andrea Guardini is also a Free Agent in the database. In light of his Giro stage win, and his results in other races perhaps a boost to his Sprint and Recovery stats?

Manuel Belletti (14/10/1985) is not in the database. He's reasonable in the hills, and can also Sprint from a small group, as well as being prepared to attack as can be seen from his 2010 Giro stage win.

https://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/...derid=4744

Bartosz Huzarski is a Free Agent in the database. Perhaps a boost to his Hill stat after his 2nd place in Stage 10 of the Giro, as well as other results this year?

Evan Huffman: (07/01/1990) he's a Murrican, and won the Gila TT ahead of Rory Sutherland, Joe Dombrowski, Craddock etc.

Also, Mionel Lessi (6/27/1987) Argentine Talent. Average 85 methinks.

Had a quick look back down memory lane at last years "boring" Vuelta - mainly to see the damage that the 'wheelsucking' British duo of Wiggins and Froome did on the mountain stages. Anyway as a consequence I found some more names for database considerisation.

Two old but not quite done guys...

Michele Scarponi - Italy - 25/09/1979

'Winner' of 2011 Giro, nudged out of this years podium. Obviously a strong all round racer. But at 33, probably just a strong domestique at this stage of his career for the man-game.

Vincente Reynes Mimo - Spain - 30/07/1981

Spanish sprinter - though clearly not in the top drawer of sprinters. Was one of the HTC lead outs and popped up with a second place to Chris Sutton at last years Vuelta. The type of guy who can get over small climbs.

The cannot believe I missed this guy off from Giro list rider

Mikel Nieve ITURRALDE - Spain - 26/05/1984

Strong Basque climber with two good Giro performances behind him.

Two other decent additions

Marco Monteguti - Italy - 06/01/1984

Second in the 2011 Vuelta Mountains Classification, but probably more of a punchaer type. Has scored some good results in hilly classics and is a good Chrono man too usually placing highly in GTour/stage race time trials (by this I mean between 10th and 25th).

Luis Angel Mate Mardones - Spain - 23/03/1984

On his day a very decent climber, though was rather anonymous in last years Vuelta. A bit more noticable at this years Paris Nice and rode in the front group in the last two road stages. No Time Trial results to speak of.

Two youngish riders

Juan Jose Lobato del Valle - Spain - 29/12/1988

9th in the Under 23 Worlds back in 2010 in Geelong - which underlines this rider as a second tier sprinter at the moment. Won the hilly Circuit de Gexco last year ahead of riders like Joaquim Rodriguez and Ventoso, so could develop into a hilly sprinter. That said stage race results suggest that he goes to the gruppetto at the first sign of the lumpy stuff.

Rafel Majka - Poland - 12/09/1989

Another one of those, 'I am sure SN is on this guy already' picks. That said the young Polish rider has had injuries this year as he looked to go well in his second grand tour at the Giro. Showed promise on the Vuelta climbs and the harder stages in stage races last year.

Here are some more riders... including a few of that rare breed of Belgian climbers.

Tim Wellens (BEL) - 10/5/1991

A lot of promise in this guy. He will be moving from the Lotto - Belisol U23 team to the ProTour team in July. 15th at the Tour De L'avenir last year including 5th on a mountain stage. Has strong results in hilly stages such as 17th in U23 Liege last year and 22nd this year. 2nd overall at U23 Tuscan tour is also a strong result. In terms of time trialing he was 2nd in this year's 9.3km TT at the Le Triptyque Des Monts Et Châteaux and 4th in last year's U23 Belgian TT championships. Lotto have brought him on as a climber, so that is probably where his future lies.

Steve Bekaert (BEL) - 26/12/1990

Also in the Lotto U23 team. Won a mountain stage this week in Spain but that is his first real result. Has a handful of top 5-10 places on mountainous terrain, but is unlikely to progress massively. Would probably be a pure climber more than anything else.

Pieter Serry (BEL) - 21/11/1988

One of the better Belgian climbers. This year he was 15th overall at Settimana Coppi e Bartali and 24th overall in the mountainous Vuelta Murcia. In the 2nd stage of last year's Vuelta a Burgos he came 10th in the mountains, ahead of Anton, Nieve, Menchov, Garzelli and quite a lot of strong climbers. He was also 21st in the 2010 Tour De L'avenir, but it is only this last 12 months that he has started to shine. Showing his ability in the hills this year are his 3rd at Brabantsje Pijl, 9th at GP Marseille, 30th at Liege and 15th in the Tour of Belgium (including 11th in the hilly final stage). He is rarely in the bottom half in TTing, though this isn't his strength. He also isn't bad on cobbles, but that really isn't where he will end up.

Arthur Vanoverberghe (BEL) - 7/2/1990

A time trialist who can climb a bit. He came third in a stage in the Pyrenees in 2010 and has occassionally had moments where he showed a bit of climbing talent. His TT results are better though. 33rd at last year's U23 ITT WC and 14th the year before as well as 3rd in the Belgian U23 championship and 23rd in the European. He is never going to be brilliant, but he could make a useful addition to a team one day.

Wouter Wippert (NED) - 14/8/1990

A great young sprinter from the Netherlands. 7th at the U23 worlds and a winner of a stage at the Tour De L'avernir last year. Also took a number of national/U23 wins last year. He can't do very well on mountains, but this year he is showing some decent ability in longer and slightly tougher sprint classics like 6th at the Ronde van Drenthe. Struggles in TTs.

Sean de Bie (BEL) - 3/10/1991

A huge talent coming up through the ranks. 13 podium places last season, including 2 wins. This season 2nd at U23 Ronde and 18th at U23 Liege. Quite a decent time trialist, better on slightly longer courses (In 2010 he was 10th in the U23 Belgian TT championships despite being only 19). His future is likely as a puncheur who can time trial

I think it would be nice to have more decent riders from Romania, especially if you want more countries to have good riders. Nechita will develop nicely but he won't be able to win anything big since there are a lot of other more powerful time - trialists out there.

I could come up with 2 Romanian riders that could be added to the database. They are both sprinters. The first one is quite old, but he's one of the strongest Romanian riders in the peloton, while the second one is a good bet for the future.

Alex Ciocan 22/03/1978
He's quite a good sprinter. Now, closer to the end of his career he started climbing a little bit better as well. Because I want to see more Romanian riders at the top my suggestion for his stats would be: 74-75 flat and sprint, 70 hills. I know it might be a little bit too much, but you can feel free to add him with any stats you want.

He was the Romanian champion in 2008 and this year he won "Turul Dobrogei" which is one of the biggest races here in Romania.

Eduard Grosu 04/09/1992

He's really young but managed to get a third place this year in Tour of Trakya, after finishing on the podium on three of the four stages of the race. Until last year he rode as a junior so I think that is a really big achievement.

Again, only because you are looking for stronger riders from the smaller countries and I'd also love to have a Romanian super-star in the game, or even in my team, it would be awesome to make this guy the next Oscar Freire or something like that.

Thanks for all the suggestions, keep them coming! Especially the ones that might seem obvious, like a few Smowz has spotted!

I'd like more talented Asian's specifically Japanese and Chinese riders, but unfortunately when I went to research for some yesterday to suggest I couldn't find anything.

Here is one that I've come across from Finland, who is mostly a puncheur but has some ability on the cobbles and he also seems to have a lot of potential. He is riding a lot in the Belgian domestic scene and pulling out some results.

Paavo Paajanen (FIN) - 25/4/1989

He was 2nd at the national-level three days of the Ardennes, as well as numerous other stage wins in hilly stage races. And to show that he can ride on cobbles in 2011 he was 14th in the U23 Omloop het Nieuswblad and 9th in a 1.2 race (Zellik - Galmaarden) that is cobbled. He possesses a decent kick from a small group. In addition he was 2nd in the Finnish Elite national championship behind Carlstrom.

If you can find some names and DoBs, the stats dont always have to be realistic to ensure some good riders from nations like that Wink

The free agent Moreno Moser needs deleting actually. Wiggle has the better one albeit, going to be a different rider type in the MG than real life!

I will look into some exotic riders from middle east and near east during the next week,if it is not late. I had some suggestions for obvious riders like Brambilla,Soupe etc. but now i see Smowz brought them and the others did fantastic job too. Smile
I'll be back

Bradley Ward (Aus)

This kid is insane. Only 16 (born 22 August, 1995) he is already competing in A Grade, and being competitive. Can't sprint or time trial, but you should see him climb! Short, lightweight (only about 40-50 kg) and really agile. Might be worth considering, especially if you are after some young talents from Australia.

Dylan Van Baarle 21/05/1992

Should have a better potential and better stats in general in my opinion. He won this year's Olympia's Tour.

Sebastien Turgot 11/04/1984

I don't think he has been mentioned yet but he would need a review even though there are some doping accusations planing on him in real life.

I'll also have a closer look at Rabo's CT team as soon as CQ gets back online. There are always a few talents worth mentioned in that team.

There are no longer. 2 times it was UCI`s fault, the 3rd time some internet problem. So I agree that he might need a small boost although not too much as it`s still an one-hit-wonder so far. Wink
