Thanks TomC and Freitas Smile

If you look hard (third post Wink), you will see JTL's new attributes. Hopefully, they're spot on.

I will probably have the first racing update tonight, but, obviously, as Bibby isn't racing, it won't be very detailed. Just a brief summary.

You're going to simulate the races when Bibby isn't racing or not ? Smile

brewers90
No, I will play them, unless there's nothing likely to happen, but it will just be a screenshot, a summary and the results. This isn't a story about Endura, but obviously it's very important to know how the team's getting on.

Endura Struggle as Porte Blitzes the Nationals

The Australian NC's took place this week in Buninyong with all three of Endura's Aussies in action. Zakkari Dempster, Dean Windsor and Jack Anderson all took part in the road race and the time trial but it was a distinctly average showing from the team.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/Ian%20Bibby/PCM0001-2.jpg
Jack Anderson was the best placed Endura rider in both events. Here, in the time trial, he was on his way to 19th place

But for Team Sky's Richie Porte, it was a great week as he became the Aussie champion in both disciplines and will wear the green and gold stripes all year. In the road race, he won solo from a small group containing Evans, Gerrans and his team mate Rogers, with Endura not even making the top 25. In the time trial, Porte nearly caught Evans and eventually took the win from Rogers, again, by 57 seconds.

Read the post sutty Pfft I've done the road race aswell, it went even worse! The game crashed though, so I couldn't export the results.

I've been very busy today, sorry for the lack of updates, but hopefully there will be a blog up soon.

Season Starts Well for Endura in Malaysia

Endura Racing started the 2012 season in Malaysia last week with the 10-day Tour de Langkawi. After a great start which saw both Mandri and Downing get a top five on the opening stage, the race really started in the mountains on Stage 4. Dan Fleeman worked his way into the eight man break and as they approached the final climb, he went on the attack and dropped his companions. After a magnificent 25km solo ride, he crossed the line a minute ahead of the next riders and claimed the race leader's yellow jersey.

Dan Fleeman took a superb solo victory on Stage 4 in Langkawi and spent a day in the yellow jersey, really showing the team that he deserved a contract

The next stage was extremely tough with Movistar and Astana controlling the pace on the long, final climb. Fleeman was dropped long before the finish but Tiernan-Locke held on for sixth at the finish, moving him up to seventh on GC, just behind the battling Fleeman. The remaining flat stages weren't brilliant for the team but Downing picked up two more top five finishes in bunch sprints. However, the star of the sprints was John Degenkolb of Project 1t4i, who won seven of the eight flat stages.

Ian's Blog

roadcyclinguk.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/BibbyEndura.jpg

February 2, 2012

Hi guys, Ian here, with my first proper blog entry. Hopefully, you enjoy what I have to say.

Firstly, I'd just like to say a massive congratulations to Dan Fleeman for his great victory in Langkawi. We know how good he is and I think he's gonna have a great season in the friendly environment of Endura Racing. It was also fantastic to see JTL up there in an elite group of 6 riders on that massive climb. It really gets me pumped up and I can't wait to get racing myself, especially with Jon, he's a massive talent.

On that subject, I've been taking it pretty easy with my training as I'm not racing until March. At the moment, I'm in the south of France with Johnny McEvoy, Scott Thwaites and a few of the British domestic riders. As you'd expect the weather's lovely, if a bit chilly, but that's going to be the case anywhere in Europe in January!

So, we're already in February and the team's next race is in Qatar. Good luck to the guys racing out there, make sure you pack the suncream though! Endura are also doing the Tour of the Med this month which is fantastic as I'll be able to watch the race from the roadside! I can't wait to see what JTL can do on Mont Faron, should be great.

Anyway, I've waffled on for long enough now, so I'll wrap it up. My next blog will come at the end of February where I will tell you some of the results from the season so far.

Thanks for reading,

Ian Bibby

Brilliant result there in Malaysia, getting three guys in the Top 15 against some World Tour teams is no mean feat. Smile

sutty68
two in the top ten in Malaysia, a good result for Endura Smile

brewers90
Indeed it is. There's a slight whiff of extreme difficulty coming from somewhere in the distance! Cool

Review of Qatar and Med will hopefully be up later.

Really nice riding in Malaysia with the Brits. Enjoying the story so far. Smile

Magnificent Med for Mighty Endura

The Tour of the Med concluded yesterday and the race just kept on giving for Endura in a week which will go down in history as surely the greatest race for the team. It was a tale of two breakaways, as a group of ten survived to the end on the opening stage. Dean Windsor was in there and sprinted to third in the uphill finish. Stage four also saw a break make it to the end. This time, it was Tom Faiers who made it into the six-man break and a fifth place finish moved him into the white jersey as best young rider.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/Ian%20Bibby/PCM0001-3.jpg
Jon Tiernan-Locke outfoxed the sprinters on stage two with a late attack to claim a brilliant victory

However the race was marked by an incredible performance by Jon Tiernan-Locke, who first powered away from the sprinters on stage two to take a strange but brilliant tactical victory. With confidence brimming and legs like wings, Jon then took another incredible win on the final stage at the top of Mont Faron. A brilliant leadout by super domestique Mandri also secured the team a 1-2, with breakaway survivor Dan Fleeman coming home fifth on a remarkable day for the team.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/Ian%20Bibby/PCM0002-2.jpg
Jon Tiernan-Locke could hardly believe it himself as he clinched a second victory at the top of Mont Faron, ensuring he would take the points jersey home

Unfortunately, Reinier Honig had been in the successful breakaway the day before and with the entire Landbouwkrediet team working for him, he clung on to win the GC by just seven seconds. Second, third and fourth place were held by Endura riders though, and all of the other jerseys will be coming home with us. JTL with the green, Mandri the polka dot and Faiers the white. A ridiculously good performance from all the boys here.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, the Tour of Qatar was a nightmare for the team as the big World Tour boys were just a couple of levels above us. A disastrous TTT left any hopes of a good result impossible and, despite being very aggressive, our best result was an 11th place for Russ Downing in a bunch sprint. The race was dominated by Movistar but canny riding by Mark Renshaw saw him come out victorious. Ian Wilkinson was our highest finisher in 102nd, not quite the same as the race in France!

Magnificent Tour of the Med for Endura and especially for Tiernan-Locke, Well Done indeed Smile

And i wouldn't change to extreme, stay as you are, but in the end it is your decision Frown

brewers90
Thanks olabj and sutty, what I will say is that on stage 5, Mandri was +4 and Tiernan-Locke was +5 on the day so I'm not gonna jump straight to extreme because if they had been "average" on the day the result would have been very different. I will wait a bit longer to make that decision.

Also, olabj, isn't that exactly the same as what happened IRL?? Shock

Only difference is that he won the overall and the rest of the team didn't do that good, but who the hell cares about that when he won Pfft

Tiernan-Locke Maintains Unbelievable Form to Dominate in Haut Var

Endura Racing continued their winning streak in the Tour du Haut Var as the irrepressible Jonathan Tiernan-Locke took the GC with a thoroughly dominant performance. The race consisted of just two stages, but with both containing an awful lot of climbing, it was hectic from start to finish. The first stage involved a great breakaway attempt by Endura's Rob Partridge. However, when he was caught with just 8km to go, Tiernan-Locke leapt away on the final climb and nobody could go with him.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/Ian%20Bibby/PCM0001-4.jpg
Jonathan Tiernan-Locke took his second victory in a row after his win on Mont Faron with a dominant performance in La Croix Valmer

The second stage was even tougher and with the team defending the yellow jersey, it was a horrendous day for the likes of Dempster, Rowsell and Tennant. Despite the team being decimated over the stage, last man Mandri positioned JTL brilliantly as they headed into the ferociously steep Mur de Fayence, with sections over 20%. From then on, it was up to Jon and he made it look easy, outsprinting riders of the quality of Jelle Vanendert and Barredo to clinch the overall as well as the points jersey, and he also made it three wins in a row. An incredible February for JTL and the team.
