Well.. he did screw it up a little bit. But it is a shame he didn't win.
Well, very suspicious that it happened right after the team said Perez shouldn't try to overtake Alonso...
I thought the same as well! I was pulling for him the whole way.
Sad that Kobayashi dnf-ed though.
I stopped watching the race when that happened. The most ridiculous piece of bullshit I've seen in a lot of time.
@Crue, I find much more annoying how now there seem to be no use for the extreme rain tyres, because anytime it's raining a bit hard, the SC comes out and stops the racing. Imagine Cancellara neutralizing any fraggin' wet descent for Frändy?

I don't think Perez ran wide in response to the radio call. If he did, that's an extremely risky way of reacting, when all he had to do was just follow Alonso round. I find it very hard to believe that Sauber would have risked what was a huge result for them - Perez could easily have been in the gravel trap that exceeded the run-off area. Whether Perez was effectively being told not to challenge Alonso is another matter, but it looked like a genuine mistake.
Great race though. As usual the season will probably get less exciting as it continues, but we'll just have to enjoy this close competition while it lasts. 9 teams in the top 10 - I'd love to know when the last time that happened was. |

Apparently the last time there were 9 different teams in the top 10 of a race was Valencia 2010, surprisingly enough. I thought it would be much further back than that. |

There's like 100 m of tarmac outside the track in each run-off area though. Bit like drawing a track on a landing track. You've got to try really hard to park your car in the gravel on a Tilke-drome. |

True, but looking at the replay, even then Perez wasn't far away from the gravel. I mean, if he'd just lost the rear-end suddenly he would have been in there. I'm not saying the radio call wasn't an inter-team order, but just that staying on the circuit would surely be advisable with 18 points in the bag. |

The front of the grid is a fantastic prospect for tomorrow.
1. Rosberg - Merc
2. Schumacher - Merc
3. Kobayashi - Sauber
4. Raikkonen - Lotus
No RBR, Mclaren or Ferrari in the top 4 of a Formula 1 grid? And considering Mercedes are having huge tire problems over race pace, it's anyone's guess who's going to win tomorrow. |

Kobayashi to jump the Mercs at the start as the Silver Arrows proceed to hold up the rest of the field? Probably not so simple, but we can dream |

Dont forget Hamilton was second fastes, and has a 5place penalty.
The Mercs cant use there tyres well so i doubt theyll win, but a podium is possible. The Sauber is good if its wet. Raikkonen and Lotus are fast, but they are inconsistent as of late. Mclaren are very fast, and i cant see anyone other than Hamilton winning, if its dry/normal race.
Hope it rains, spices things up...

I mostly agree, even though the Mercedes are supposed to have fixed a significant part of their tyres problems, so we'll see. |

I really hope Mercedes can fix their problems, would be nice to see a win from them. Tomorrow, I'm hoping for a nice race, with Hamilton as the main favourite. Raikkonen and Kobayashi could be a plesant surprise. |

I know, Hamilton's quick around here, but the fact is that tomorrow he starts 7th, which is far from ideal.
It's a mystery as to how well the Mercs will go, but that laptime from Kobayashi is massively encouraging for Sauber given how their race pace has been considerably better than their quali pace.
Usually I like to see rain, but I'm not so bothered if it doesn't happen tomorrow because of this scenario. Of course, we can be pretty sure there'll be some major changes by the end of lap 1, but it'll be an entertaining race no doubt. |

Not really their first win though - its the same team as Brawn in all but name. (Plus Mercedes the name did win in 1955 )
Shame Button's rubbish last pitstop ruined the possibility of a late battle for the lead, but a victory for Rosberg is well deserved

That cost him 6 or 7 seconds, which is half of what he'd have needed (plus overtaking) to win.
In the end I don't think it changed the results.
Raikkonen's tyre destruction has been very spectacular, btw. he managed to drive quite fast for a while, and then nothing, everyone went past him, and he had no more pace. |
