I don't know I tried to send him after Bole on the final hilly bit but he couldn't hang on so I'm not too sure if he will be able to get a win on Willunga especially against some of the other favourites. |

Stage 3 - Unley to Victor Harbour
This stage is again for the sprinters so we should see a mass sprint finish into Victory Habour today.
Favourites: Cavendish (Sky), Haussler (Garmin), Hushovd (BMC)
A 6-man break was allowed to form in today's stage and it contained the likes of Matthews (Rabobank), Viscioso (Katusha) and our own Courteille (FDJ) again.
The original break turned into a 19-man break but the peloton deemed this too big of a group to go away and brought it back. But with 30km to go, Sella (Androni), Tosatto (Saxo Bank) and Courteille were off the front.
But the break did not last and was reeled in around the 12km to go mark. Since Courteille had been brought back we decided to go to the front to give Hutarovich the best possible chance again the favourites.
But it would be to no avail as Haussler won the stage for Garmin closely followed by Cavendish in 2nd and Hushovd in 3rd. Hutarovich came 12th because I think we pushed slightly too hard on the front and made him not have the legs in the sprint finish.

A pity Courteille couldn't last all the way to the end, but at least he leads the Mountains Classification |

You're doing some good job out there. You're getting in breakaways and slowly get up the GC raking with Casar. It's the only thing to do with FDJ
Good luck for the rest ! |

@ sutty68: Yeah I tried to hold out with Courteille but he just isn't that strong to hold off the fast-finishing peloton. But it is a good consolation having the mountain jersey especially when he isn't even a great climber
@ franki28: I'm starting to notice that hopefully on stage 5 I can maybe move up a few more places with Casar on Willunga Hill. I don't think I will be able to win a sprint with Hutarovich here though as Hushovd and Haussler look exceptionally strong. |

Stage 4 - Norwood to Tanunda
Today's stage seems to be another one for the sprinters although the hill with around 20km to go could possibly shake the peloton up a bit.
Favourites: Cavendish (Sky), Haussler (Garmin), Hushovd (BMC)
Things were very quiet at the start of the day with no riders attacking at all. We took advantage of this and a few kilometres from the first sprint point, we sent Casar onto the attack and he managed to hold on to gain the sprint points but more importantly, the bonus seconds!
Casar came back to the group so he would not waste energy ahead of tomorrow's stage. Gyhselinck (Cofidis) attacked with 65km to go and was later joined by Tosatto (Saxo Bank).
The hill before the finish, as I predicted, did string the peloton out, but it was all back together again pretty soon. The break was caught with around 10km to go and then, disaster! A crash 9km from the end of the stage wiped out GC contenders Nieve (Euskaltel) and Van Poppel (UnitedHealthcare). Our own rider Boucher (FDJ) was also involved.
But it was back to normal for the finish as Hushovd won again for BMC, Haussler was 2nd and Bole 3rd. Hutarovich showed signs of improvement with a great 5th place and Casar's cheeky attack at the sprint point rose him to 6th in the GC.
1 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | 3h15'20 | 2 | Heinrich Haussler | Garmin - Barracuda | s.t. | 3 | Grega Bole | Lampre - ISD | s.t. | 4 | Gert Steegmans | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Yauheni Hutarovich | FDJ - BigMat | s.t. | 6 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | 7 | Marcus Burghardt | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 8 | Tom Leezer | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 9 | Romain Feillu | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 10 | Roberto Ferrari | Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela | s.t. |
1 | Alessandro Ballan | BMC Racing Team | 13h33'12 | 2 | Grega Bole | Lampre - ISD | + 24 | 3 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | + 25 | 4 | Heinrich Haussler | Garmin - Barracuda | + 29 | 5 | Wesley Sulzberger | GreenEdge Cycling Team | + 42 | 6 | Sandy Casar | FDJ - BigMat | + 48 | 7 | Lucas Sebastián Haedo | Team Saxo Bank | + 48 | 8 | Tony Gallopin | RadioShack - Nissan | + 49 | 9 | Jeremy Hunt | Sky Pro Cycling | + 50 | 10 | Jacek Morajko | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. |
(Like an idiot, I forgot to export the results but Courteille still holds his mountain jersey!) |

Stage 5 - McLaren Vale to Old Willunga Hill
It is the stage that will decide the GC for sure, barring any crashes or punctures tomorrow. The hilltop finish will suit the hilly specialists for sure, can Ballan hang onto his lead?
Favourites: Fuglsang (RadioShack-Nissan), Nieve (Euskaltel), Bole (Lampre)
A 15-man break went off the front at the beginning of the stage but was never allowed more than a minute and was quickly brought back. But with 70km to go Roelandts (Lotto) and Oss (Liquigas) attacked and managed to get away.
The 2 men were to be then joined by Steegmans (Omega-Pharma), Vicioso (Katusha) and Machado (RadioShack-Nissan). The 5 men still had a 2 min advantage going into the bottom of the first climb.
At the top of the first climb, an elite group of 10 had formed off behind the breakaway, containing Fuglsang (RadioShack-Nissan), Ballan, Hushovd (BMC), Bole (Lampre) and Haussler (Garmin). The break still had around 2 min on the peloton.
Ballan snuck away on the descent and joined the breakaway at the foot of Willunga Hill, but the favourites were working together nicely and were reeling them in!
But Fuglsang wins as he overtook Ballan in the final kilometre to take the win. Ballan came in 2nd with Nieve in 3rd. I was slightly annoyed as Casar was blocked in his sprint by the remnants of the breakaway and was too far behind when he broke free to do anything .

@ sutty68: I was pleased to finally get the sprints going with him and with Casar I think a Top 10 is a great result for us
@ franki28: From the picture I took of the finish line it looks like the peloton was massively spread out so my guess is that Burghardt was part of the leadout train or was protecting Ballan.
@ Ste117: Thank you! They are becoming one of mine already besides Sky of course |

The final stage of the 2012 edition of the Tour Down Under. It is going to be a relatively flat run in today and with only 93km to ride, all signs point to a mass sprint. Barring any crashes or mishaps during today's stage, the GC looks to be set with Ballan being the surprise winner here when many thought he teammate Hushovd looked stronger.
Favourites: Cavendish (Sky), Hushovd (BMC), Haussler (Garmin)
No break was allowed to go anywhere today as Garmin and Sky pushed a fast pace on the front all day, obviously indicating that Cavendish and Haussler felt good today. But since there were mountain points still available I made sure that Courteille locked down the jersey by going after points in the two mountain sprints on today's stage. So FDJ came out of the Tour Down Under with a jersey on the shoulders of one of their riders!
During the final 10km or so, we had our leadout train going pretty well but when Casar took up his turn on the front, he seemingly rode off the front of the peloton before I realised what had happened. We decided that this would be a great oppurtunity to possibly steal a stage win so we told him to go hard and fast for the last few kilometres.
Unfortunately, he was swallowed up in the final 2km, but his move had successfully splintered the peloton and there were only 47 riders in the front group coming under the 1km to go banner. The 3 favourites were in close proximity and this stage was going to be a close one.
But Hushovd rode them all of his wheel for the stage win and his 3rd stage of the TDU with BMC winning 4/6 stages here what a race for the BMC team. Cavendish was 2nd and Haussler 3rd. More importantly, I didn't realise until the results screen that Fuglsang and Flecha were both dropped in the final few kilometres and they lost enough time to put Casar into 5th place! A great results for FDJ here!

The Tour de Langkawi is the 17th edition in 2012. It is raced around the Malaysian Peninsular and this year's edition has plenty of flat stages for the sprinters to take multiple wins and Stages 4 and 5 look set to determine the outcome of the Overall Classification.

It isn't a great startlist to be honest, with Katusha having plenty of climbers within their squad and with Moreno and Spilak, beating them on a climb will be very difficult. In the flatter stages, it seems to be that Kittel will win every sprint he contests as he has 80 SP, while only Demare and Lacombe come relatively close with 75 SP.

We have brought a good squad here as I think that we can get some results in the sprints (but against Kittel will be very hard to do!) with Demare and hopefully with Pinot in the mountain stages. Elissonde will be Pinot's right-hand man on the climbs while Geslin will help lead-out Demare in the sprints.
Stage 1 - Dataran Lang to Kuah
We start with 3 flat stages, so expect them to be mass sprint finishes.
Favourites: Kittel (1t4i), Demare (FDJ), Lacombe (Spidertech)
Kittel wins stage 1! (Not much of a surprise there.) It was a relatively straightforward stage without much action and Project 1t4i kept it together for most of the stage. Demare 2nd and Lacombe 3rd.
1 | Marcel Kittel | Project 1t4i | 2h03'31 | 2 | Arnaud Demare | FDJ - BigMat | s.t. | 3 | Keven Lacombe | SpiderTech powered by C10 | s.t. | 4 | Mathieu Drujon | BigMat - Auber 93 | s.t. | 5 | Alexander Kristoff | Katusha Team | s.t. | 6 | Jonas Ljungblad | Team Differdange - Magic-Sportfood.de | s.t. | 7 | Jaan Kirsipuu | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 8 | Tom Veelers | Project 1t4i | s.t. | 9 | Niki Østergaard | Glud & Marstrand - LRØ | s.t. | 10 | Guillaume Boivin | SpiderTech powered by C10 | s.t. |
Stage 2 - Kangar to Butterworth
Favourites: Kittel (1t4i), Demare (FDJ), Lacombe (Spidertech)
Another straightforward stage with 1t4i again making sure Kittel could get the stage win. Lacombe 2nd and Lander 3rd.

Stage 3 - Taiping to Sitiawan
Favourites: Kittel (1t4i), Demare (FDJ), Lacombe (Spidertech)
There was a big crash in the peloton with just under 10km to go. Lacombe crashed and was out of contention for the victory today. It also left a group of 54 at the front of the race who would contest the stage win.
Kittel wins for the 3rd stage in a row, this is becoming a bit predictable. But we were pleased to see that Demare was a close 2nd and Kristoff was 3rd. It was also very nice to see 3 FDJ riders finishing in the Top 10!

A nice podium finish for Demare who had a steady ride throughout the race |

I'm very pleased with him at the moment and hoping he can develop into a better sprinter But I don't think he will win a stage here as Kittel is way too strong. |
