Finally a stage win since some time in this season
But I guess it's bad because of the Cyalogic for the next stages eh?

Nothing to worry about with that result. Even managed to do something decent.

Before someone asks. Have forgot to mention in the report.
The last finish picture, where Ben Nasser leads the group over the line.
The picture looks weird when checking the results afterwards. Some riders were one lap behind and mix this group a bit. The order in the results is correct. |

Awesome.
When I reported Japan last year, I thought that there was scope for a puncheur team leader to do well here. So here Froome is and already doing what he has to do - getting the gaps and winning the stage!
He definately needs more time on De la Fuente and Augustyn. 1 minute may already be enough on the rest though.
And with more hills to come, more chances to gain more!
Bit of a non-race for Stannard though! Fails to win the TT and already off home.

Niemiec has started much better than I could even dream of. Looks good for a decent GC result.
Still, Rapha seems pretty much unbeatable.

Average ride by Costa, looks like a top 10
is possible. If Maksimov can get over the hills stage 3 should be good. And stage 7 is made for him, he just has to not abandon before then

It is a bit of a poor one from Jayco Red Bull there. But should have realised that this race would have suited punchaers more.
The team standings looks good and I guess I have four guys (and at least all seven left in the race!). With gaps opening up getting guys in breakaways may still give me joy, then again stage 3 may well have Sonnery as a favourite leaving us to chase.

A moment of shock (Bobridge's fall), a moment of hope (Khalmuratov's late lead) and a moment of surprise (Johny Walker's 5th).. can't complain today.. maybe Khalmuratov should have done better in the KoM-sprints, as he's a decent climber
Congrats to Jayco-RB for that nice and smart stage-win!

Not bad at all for me either. Capecchi as 6th recording another Top 10 finish, while Nimiec avoided all the crashes. Good stage.

Nice its been a little while since a stage win and this comes as a welcome little morale boost before tha
A nice move from Veloso, after a slightly weak opening two stages.
Looking for similar type of jumps from the boys on the other hilly stages - guess Arashiro may have to wait until the last stage now. The Japanese star has been very active thus far as he was here last year.
The climb looks steep on stage four cannot help but think another GC shake up is on the cards.

Vespa, Meiji and Proximus are doing most work here.
Hahaha!
The AI continues to surprise. I send a team looking to sneak something from a break and instead we work for our 'sprinter'....
Nevermind - not expecting anything from this race and working out that way. |

Well, I'll say it again Maksimov is get all my training money for next year. At only 24 years old his prime is still ahead of him. Hopefully he can make it to stage 7 and get his first win. In the meantime go Costa!

Damn. Would have really loved to get a stage win here, but now that chance is looking rather slim.

Gottfried surprises me! And thus, the team lives to race another stage.

Oh my god, this race must be so tough with the huge lists of riders abandoned.

Bobridge.. how often does he want to fall? Bad luck, at least he looks good for the U25-ranking.. please don't crash again!

Nooooooooooo But I'm not that surprised. Nice to Sastre in breakaway and Costa hanging with the leaders. With Maksimov out, Costa really needs a good result now.
