And just to add some news, Peter Sagan will start next Tour de France, his first.

They are the last scapegoats who served the glorious task of making people belive the anti-doping system works.

Pedro Delgado showing just why cycling doesn't need people like him in our sport.

Contador suspension excessive, says Delgado

Alberto Contador "should not have any ban" former Tour de France winner, Pedro Delgado told Spain's EFE news agency. He said the Spaniard has "suffered enough" due to his failed doping test and subsequent court cases.

Spain's three-time Tour winner will know if he will race or serve a suspension when the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rules on his case next month. He tested positive for clenbuterol at the 2010 Tour de France, but maintains his innocence and says the clenbuterol came from eating a contaminated steak.

Contador's national federation acquitted him in February, but the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed its decision to the CAS the following month.

It should be noted that Delgado won the Tour, then tested positive.....and got off on a technicality.

Sky 2012 races could be seen under 2011 profiles. Found it by looking trough Pfft

https://www.teamsk...ml#month=2

No big surprises, the team won't go to Amgen California ( bit shame as thought Froome/Swift/Rogers could do very well here in this edition ).

They have a very busy February with 4 stage races and one that could be called a stage race being Mallorca stages. They will also do Vuelta a Burgos ( didnt do in 2011 ).

Cavendish sets Milan-San Remo target, Hagen won't be super happy but Sky can ride for both of them, Hagen will follow the attackers on Pogio if Cav doesn't have the strength and try to win as Goss did this year, or otherwise if all is pulled back will act as lead out for Cav.

The Giro has annouced its wildcard teams for this year. With 4 from this list and the 18 top divison teams completeing the line-up. The 14 second division teams listed below will also be available to compete for wild card spots in RCS Sport's other WorldTour races: Two places are open for Tirreno-Adriatico, seven for Milan-San Remo and seven the Tour of Lombardy.

The available wild card teams: Androni Giocattoli (ITA), Acqua & Sapone (ITA), Champion System Cycling Team (CHN), Colnago-CSF Inox (IRL), Colombia-Coldeportes (COL), Farnese Vini (GBR), Landbouwkrediet (Bel), Project 1T4I (NED), RusVelo (RUS), Saur Soyasun (FRa), Europcar (Fra), Team Netapp (Ger), Team Type 1-Sanofi (USA), Utelsilnord Named (IRL)

I'd really like to see NetApp there. I think they would convince with agressive riding and it could be a real boost for German cycling to see a German team participating (well) in one of the GTs. Although I don't think it's very probable, given that Androni and A&S should get wild cards (shouldn't they?).

Actually, just Colnago-CSF Inox, Androni-Giocattoli, Acqua & Sapone, Farnese Vini, Coldeportes, Project 1t4i, Team Type 1 and Champion System have requested a wildcard for the Giro. The others have requested a spot in (at least) one of the other RCS events.

I know the article you're refering to, but both team director Denk and DS Heppner state different.

As far as I know also NetApp requested for a Giro spot.
Jens Heppner said this week that it would be a big step for the team to get a Giro wildcard and with guys like König, Brändle or Barta they have good chances to perform well.

Nevertheless I think Colnago-CSF Inox, Androni-Giocattoli, Acqua & Sapone, Farnese Vini are the 4 wildcards most probably.

According to this German article, all those 14 teams requested wild cards for the Giro and T-A, MSR and La Lombardia.

Also, in this interview, the DS of NetApp says that they indeed requested a wild card:

NetApp hat sich für den Giro d’Italia beworben. Wie wichtig wäre denn eine Teilnahme in Ihren Augen?

NetApp applied for the Giro d'Italia. How important would be a participation in your opinion?

Heppner: Enorm wichtig. Wir waren im vergangenen Jahr schon bei einigen hochkarätigen Rundfahrten dabei und der Giro wäre jetzt der nächste Schritt.

Very important. We participated in numerous top-class stage races in the previous years, the Giro would be the next step.

Wäre NetApp denn wettbewerbsfähig?

Would NetApp be competitive?

Heppner: Eindeutig ja. Wir haben im vergangenen Jahr mit unseren Leistungen in den Rundfahrten beweisen, dass wir gut mithalten könnten.

Clearly yes. Last year, we proved with our performances in the stage races that we can be competitive.

€dit: Okay, some guys here were faster Wink
