.dem - where is covered?

Yeah, kinda, you create a route in a site like bikeroutetoaster.com or bikemap.net, save it as .gpx and load it in the editor, which will recognize the area of your stage and create a big terrain area where your whole route fits. This area is made after Digital Elevation Maps, thus DEM files. Also if you have PCM 11 with the first patches you can also activate Google Maps in one of the views of the editor.

As for the second question, I'm not sure if the whole UK is covered, but SportingNonsense made the 2011 British NC in Stamfordham, which is far more to the north than Wales, so you should have no problems (the furthest from the Equator a place is, the harder to have .dem files). Oh and Schack made a Tour of Wales, so yeah no problem.

Did the Bahamas and other Carribean islands get covered by the .dem files because while on vacation I noticed they have some crazy hills and would make a stunning stage with the landscape. (Would make for some nice man-game stages if it is possible ...)

Not sure. You can easily test it.
Download all 3 DEM packs. Then create a gps file on the Bahamas. Can be a 2km route for the test.

If you open the gps in the editor and it does not crash, then it`s covered.

To me, it doesn't crash, the numbers are just the same...
