PCM Fantasy/Prediction Season - January Over
SidGarcia
I see that you are a McEwen-fan. But I think 83 is good for McEwen.

But now it's 10 - and that's meaning that we could start! Wink

Ill only poste the squad rankings at the end of a month or at the end of a protour+ race.

Aussie Champs: Grame Brown pulled off a shock to win ahead of O'Grady. Brett Lancaster was the only other Fantasy rider to score points, finishing 8th. Predictor were the best of the protour teams.
Best player: RobbieMcEwenFan - 22 pts

Tour Down Under: A surprisngly low key line up, the TDU was won by Samuel Dumoulin. No rider picked in any of the 10 squads scored points, Alexandre Usov (34), Fabio Sacchi (22) and Thor Hushovd (17) were the best of the fantasy riders who could have been picked. Infact the only actual points scored in the TDU goes to Frink RSA, whose Astana team took the team classification.
Best player: Frink RSA - 5 pts

Doha International GP: Johan Lindgren (FDJ) won in Doha as spectators wondered- when where all the stars going to start? Mattan took 3rd and Hoste took 8th as yet again McewenFan profitied. Crommy took 1 point thanks to Rabobanks 5th in the team standings.
Best Player: RobbieMcEwenFan - 15 pts

Tour of Qatar: After a sluggish start Tom Boonen finally appeared in Qatar taking 2nd in Stage 3 and 4 before winning Stage 5. He finished 2nd overall to Pedro Horrillo. Boonen aside Qatar saw the start for many riders and points started to roll-in for most of the 10 players. Still, at least Boonen cant win the young riders competitions, this was won by Heinrich Haussler.
The best player in Qatar was SidGarcia, whose team contained the best 3 performers of those selected: Boonen, O'Grady and Haussler.

GP d'Ouverture la Marseillaise:
Won by Lloyd Mondory, Steels took 2nd as McewenFan gained points on the rest.
Best Player: RobbieMcEwenFan - 15 pts

Etoeile de Besseges: SamuelDumoulin continued his fine form to take the win, with a 1st and 2 seconds along the way. Roger Hammond also took a stage along with Martin Elmiger. Piil, Hunt and Eisel were also strong. Ag2r won the team classification.
SportingNonsense benefited frm Hammond, Eisel and Hunt to be the best player.
BP: SportingNonsense - 68 pts

Le Tour de Langkawi: Assan Bazayev took an emphatic victory, winning 5 stages and all the classifications. He also took 2 2nds and a 3rd,k shame he wasnt a rider anyone could select Grin. Thor Hushovd took 3 wins on his way to a surprising 5th overall - I bet you wished you picked him now as he alone took over 100 points! Stefen Wesemann scored well for Frink including a stage win and Savoldelli took 3rd overall - good news for Sid and Addy.
BP: Frink RSA - 50 pts

SidGarcia
This is very exciting, can't wait for Trofeo Mallorca! Wink

But one thing, can you post the leader overall at all stage results posts?

SportingNonsense
Okay I will do that from now on

SportingNonsense
GP Costa del Etruschi: Bennati took victory ahead of Zabel, Napolitano and Petacchi.
BP: Addy291 - 24 pts
1 SidGarcia 172

Trofeo Mallorca: Bettini, Mattan and van Petegem took the first 3 stages before Francisco Mancebo took control winning the final 2 stages and the overall classification. Boogerd came 2nd, JI Gutierrez 4th. Valverde took 9th as he kicked off his season and the world champ Bettini took 11th. SIdGarcia took the win as he extended his lead over last place to 200 points as Crommy took just 2 points - from the team standings.
BP: SidGarcia - 121 pts
1 SidGarcia 293

Tour Mediterranean A superb 1-2 for Ag2r with Moreau taking 2 stage wins and the overall jersey while Dessel came 2nd. The sprint wins came from Steegmens and Boonen while Cofidis won the TTT - Verbrugghe crossing first. Boonen, Moreau, Dessel and Pozzato all helped togive Frink RSA a phenomenal victory that at one stage looked to take him into the lead, that was not the case but he certainly closed the gap.
BP: Frink RSA - 167 pts
1 SidGarcia 378

Trofeo Laugeuglia: Paolo Bettini wo the sprint from the lead group of 5 and quick step took the team classification.
BP: Add291, Dejacobs + Doddy13 - 20 pts
1 SidGarcia 393

I didn't think that I would still lead, but that was entertaining!

I got nothing to complain about from now on. B)

SportingNonsense
Vuelta a Andalucia: Halfway through the Ruta del Sol the race began to look like a Rabobank parade, with Van Heeswijk, Flecha and Oscare Freire all taking stages, but the last two stages were dominated by one man. A brit. Jeremy Hunt. Hunt took the final two stages for Unibet.com as Oscare Freire clinched the overall classification. Van Petegem, Hincapie, Sanchez, Mancebo and Dekker all featured in the top 10 overall. Doddy, Panaflex, McewenFan and SportingNonsense all gained good points over the rest here as SportingNonsense clinched the win by just two points, he was benefited by Freire, Hunt, Sanchez and Hammond.
BP: SportingNonsense - 114 pts
1 SidGarcia 426

Ive also decided to now award teams 1 point if their rider wins the stage, I will now go through and allocate points from the earlier races to the teams.

Tour du Haut Var: Phillipe Gilbert showed his form was in place a week before the classics by taking victory ahead of companions Voeckler and Moreau. A strong group of 8 followed them home. Voeckler, Pozzata, Moreau and Dessel took pts home for Frink as Sid was dislodged from the top.
BP: Frink RSA - 30 pts
1 Frink RSA 441

There you go Sid, something to complain about! Grin

Benidorm - Valencia: New Zealander Tim Gudsell pulled of a shock victory in Valencia as he survived a breakaway to win. Big names included: Boogerd 5th, Ventoso 8th, Freire 10th.
BP Frink RSA/Addy291 - 14 pts
1 Frink RSA 455

Classic Haribo Victory for Liquigas' Manuel Quinziato. The teams were the only source of points.
BP: Crommy - 4 pts
1 Frink RSA 455

Volta ao Algarve Eisel, McEwen and Bonomi won the first 3 sprint stages, Kyle Gritters won Stage 4 from a break, and the crucuial stage 5 was won by Sinkewitz. Sinkewitz took 2nd overall behind Stefan Wesemann, who is now the leading 'fantasy' rider. Frink RSA has both Wesemann and Sinkewitz in his squad and that was enough to win Algarve and extend his new lead.
BP: Frink RS - 82 pts
1 Frink RSA 537
