Does these two real-life tactics work in PCM?

yeah, I suppose form plays a part. It's just strange that the same AI rider wins every time, when there are 6-7 guys who are clearly better than him.
You'd think one of them would win it from time to time
I'd love to try a break-away win here, but for the XXXth time, I've ust tried to attack with good riders and with low talent riders...and they are all (without exception) chased down by a full HTC team (early in the stage) or a full Katusha team (late in the stage).
Just to test, I let the AI riders break-away without joining with any rider - they (obviously) got a 9 min. lead before the peleton started to increase in pace, while any attack I make gets a max of 1-2 min and is instantly caught |

I won a stage in the 2012 Tour with Brice Feillu! He was in a break and attacked on a late hill, I was really happy. |

I dunno...
Either I'm doing something completely wrong (likely, although I don't understand what)...or something is bugging for me on this stage.
I just tried again.
Kreuziger stayed in group for the entire race (daily form 0 - protected by Löfkvist).
about 20km to go, Cunego attacks, Visconti counters, Kreuziger counters...and 10 secs later (realtime), Cunego and Visconti have a 1 minute lead, Kreuziger has 0 energy, and about 10 AI riders in the peleton just drive from him on that long 2nd last climb.
From there's it just gets worse, until he comes in several minutes after the winner (again Visconti winning it, beating Cunego with half a minute!). |

I got something strange, i wanned to play the alpe Dhuez stage so i choose a team(Skil Shimano ) and started only when i look to the loading screen i see that the favourites are Hushovd Cavendish and Farrar so i play the stage and eventualy it comes to a mass sprint on Alpe d'Huez Cavendish did win idk how this comes but i always attacked with some riders of my team and always the sprinters followed and the GC man did nothing. what is this kind of bug? |

Sounds crazy
Since you mention it, I actually noticed, that it was mostly 3 HTC sprinter who chased down my attacks the last time around (Cav, Renshaw + 1 other I can't remember the name of, along with P.Velits from time to time) |

I think the stage settings might have been changed to flat, thats what caused the massed sprint... |

Yap, it also happen to me but on pcm 09.
In the stage that passes the tourmalet and finishes in flat it ended in a mass sprint won by boonen. |

When your opponents attack, you are using "Counter-Attack" and not "Attack", correct? Counter-Attack won't drain your yellow bar as fast. |

Yep, I'm using Counter-Attack to try and catch up to the AI who attacks.
However, the (red) energy bar is drained within a few seconds, while the AI riders keep going forward at "attacking speed".
As the red bar is empty, I Dot after the counter-attack, but even at 90% effort the attacking AI riders simply drive away. I can (sometimes) catch up to them if I use 95-99% effort (not always though), and IF I do, they just immediately attack again ("attacking animation + burst of speed as a normal attack" as if they have endless amount of energy.
Oh, and NO, my rider isn't injured (I just checked )
EDIT:
I'm using the PCMFreaks Realname DB 2011

Use the dot technique, just ride on 81-82 so that your hartrate is lower than 184 bpm, and then you will be able to close the gap, they will take a small gap but you will ride to them very easily. If it is then less than 5k, keep riding on dot, else just sit in there wheels

I tried this effort just now.
Same thing happened as in every other race.
1. Visconti attacks (this time I didn't counter to save energy)
2. Visconti reeled in by Katusha guys
3. Cunego attacks
4. Visconti and 2 Katusha guys attack a moment later
5. Counter on the closest guys doesn't do anything except burn energy faster
6. Dot on 82% with Löfkvist as protector
7. Attacking group just goes further and further ahead
8. Boason Hagen could keep up with group behind attackers
9. A short attack by Hagen and he's at the attacking group
10. The second Hagen catches the attackers, they all sprint away again
11. Kreuziger comes in around 20th - 3 mins behind Visconti
12. I get so frustrated that I'm close to smashing keyboard
EDIT:
Bleh, screw this!
I'll try a weekly save and see if there's a bug somehow.
Oh, and sorry for sort of hijacking the thread

You can with the Schleck tactic, with the Schlecks. Played the this years TdF stage Alp d´Huez. Hard in front with Fuglsang and Monfort at the Telegraphe. Then attacked with both Schlecks at the mid of the Galibier. At the beginning of Alp d´Huez shortly only Fränk working in front and then both fast uphill as they can. Andy won with 1:34 min in front of Contador, Fränk in 3rd about 3 min behind Andy.
So it is possible to win!!! |
