So here we go with the team presentation of HTC-HIGHROAD 2011!

Our team had some great days after 2010. We´re one of the most famous cycling teams all over the world not just because of our woman team. Riders like Cavendish, Matthew Goss, Tony Martin, Tejay Van Garderen are able to shine in the most important races.
Our main goal for the next seasons is not only to shine in sprints or one day classics. No, we might be able to sign some great talents for the mountains and the Grand Tours. We don´t want to sign the biggest favourites like Contador or Andy Schleck. I think we´ve got a pretty young team this year and I would like to continue like that. |

Our whole team squad in 2011:

These are our team captains for the most important races:
Mark Cavendish:

Mark Cavendish is maybe the most popular rider in our team. When it comes to a mass sprint, he might be the best sprinter in the cycling world at the moment. His biggest goal this season, will be the Tour de France. His dream, to win the green jersey, is still alive and we all saw it two weeks ago..he can do it! Mark Renshaw and Bernie Eisel will be on his side for sure. By the way: I would probably look the same way like Cav did in this screen over there
Tony Martin:

Tony Martin is one of the biggest talents from Germany at the moment. His ITT attributes are amazing and his focal points are the Tour de France just like the ITT World Championship.
Peter Velits:

Peter Velits will be our captain in France with Tony Martin. We´re not sure who´s gonne be stronger there but we will see that later in the season. Velits is also going for smaller races with only 4-6 stages maybe.
Tejay Van Garderen:

One of my favourites in our team is Tejay Van Garderen. He´s a great stages racer but surely a stronger time trialist. The future might be a great one for him especially in short stages races. Anyway, we´´re going to send him to the Giro this year.
Matthew Goss:

Matt Goss, our second best sprinter from Down Under! He is of course a big help for Cav in France in the middle of the season but races like Milan - San Remo and some other big races are his focal points this year.
He´s also our team captain for the first race in Down Under. |

Here are some of the most important protected riders in our team:
Bernhard `Bernie`Eisel:
He´s our man for the early classics in March and April. Paris-Roubaix is his biggest goal this year. But he´s also a really important help for Cavendish in France. All in all the Austrian is an amazing rider for our team.
Mark Renshaw:
The Australian is not only a great sprinter but also one of the best if not the best leadout man at the moment. His sprint preperation for Mark Cavendish is always impressive to watch and we hope to see that for a long time.
Michael Albasini:
The puncheur from Switzerland will be our captain in the first part of the season. Especially the big classics in Belgium etc..might be his place to shine for HTC. |

We´ve got some nice sponsor goals this year, especially from HTC:

The most important one for us is Milan-San Remo. The sponsor wants us to win there. The green jersey in France should be possible if Cav will come over the mountains.
Winning the Dauphine just like a Top 5 at the Giro might be almost impossible as we´ve got no stage racer who can do that, especially against guys like Contador, Evans, Nibali, Scarponi &Co.

Highroad´s goals aren´t easier so far. Many Top 5 results there in really hard stage races. The Fleche Wallonne with Albasini might be possible on a great day for us but it´s still a hard mission.
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is quite possible as we´ve got some nice time trialists in our team..so let´s start with the season!
When you´ve got some questions, don´t hesitate to ask me |

Australian Championships (Road)
Our small team-squad with team captain Matt Goss, Mark Renshaw and Leigh Howard as protectors is ready for the first race in 2011. The circuit is quite hilly today, so Mark Renshaw and Leigh Howard shouldn´t be able to shine in the final kilometres. Matt Goss isn´t that bad in hilly parts and he might be able to play a role in the final part.
The favourites:
+++ Evans, Haussler, Gerrans
++ Goss, O´Grady, Roger
+ Porte, Matthews, Bobridge

Especially the last two rounds will be interesting as there should be a lot of action. Our race plan is to defend the attacks for Matt Goss. If a bigger group will reach the final flat kilometres, we might be able to get a nice result.

First of all, there was a small group of three riders with a nice breakaway. Roberts, Hayman and Menzies controlled the race until the last 35 kilometres.

We were able to set a high pace with Renshaw and Howard in the last 70 kilometres so gap about 7 minutes to the break became smaller and smaller.

When the break was brought back with 35 kilometres to go, the first attack our of the pack came from Heinrich Haussler on the second last uphill.

Haussler had no chance against the high pace from especially our team. But he wasn´t the only one, making a move. The next action came by Simon Gerrans with Michael Matthews following him.

With only 3 kilometres to go, Gerrans and Matthews were back in the first group and our captain Goss were in a nice position, taking the backwheel of Heinrich Haussler.

The last corner was passed by the leading group and Matt Goss was absolutely right with taking Haussler´s wheel. On the last 500 metres he made his move and he was really fast while Matthews was in front of Porte.

That´s it! What a great final for HTC and Matt Goss. He´s the new Australian Champion. Second place goes to Heinrich Haussler, third to Richie Porte. Matthews had no energy left after his attack. Renshaw and Howard reached the line completely exhausted. Big thanks to them, as they did an unbelievable job today.

Australian Championships (ITT)
After the great win for Matt Goss in the road race some days ago, we´re still in Australia but this time for a nice time trial about 38 kilometres. With Matthew Goss, Mark Renshaw and Leigh Howard we have no real time trialist there. But we don´t care about that, as we already have a nice win.
HTC-HIGHROAD:

The favourites:
+++ Evans, Porte, Rogers
++ C. Meyer, Sutherland, Bobridge
+ Haussler, Hansen, Lancaster

The route is almost completely flat with some short uphill sections but they will not be that hard. This might be the perfect track for Cadel Evans or Richie Porte.

The first serious time was set by Jack Bobridge from Garmin-Cervelo. 56´08 was the new best time. Haussler, Lancaster, Hansen were not able to beat this one. Also Michael Matthews was not fast enough today but he still got a great result with only 10 seconds behind the Garmin rider.

Our best rider today was again Matt Goss with a nice time but nothing special. He finished on a good 14th position today with 1´48 to the winner.

Cameron Meyer was the next ´Aussie´, setting a great time! He was the first one, beating Bobridge´s today. His time was amazing with 33 seconds to Bobridge.

Michael Rogers also had a great day but Meyer´s time was just too good for him. Anyway a nice result by him with 22 seconds behind Meyer.

There were only 2 riders left with Cadel Evans and Richie Porte. Evans was the first and his time was incredible! I thought Meyer´s time was almost unbeatable but Cadel was even 24 seconds faster. Great ride by Evans.

With Richie Porte another fast rider was on the track and his first time on the checkpoint was great with only 1 second to Evans. It was an epic final which had the better end for Cadel Evans. Porte missed the win by only 7 seconds. Congrats to Cadel Evans, really deserved win today.
