Riders are now solid (can't go through each other) which means that you have to be careful with your riders' positioning in the peloton.
unfortunately runners will be locked during the climbs
i have never seen in real race,a mountain climber who lost a stage because it is blocked by about 10 cyclists before him...
you have to start any climb at the head of the group or you will be locked
you cant run as sastre for exemple sastre always run in the last position of the first group (same than bettini too)
I'm in need of venting some frustration. Don't know where to put it, so I figured I could use this thread. It is about 2011 features, afterall.
I'm playing the Vuelta as a single stage race. Really enjoying it, even though I'm using the official DB at the moment. Better AI than ever.
However, there is one thing about 2011 that is really annoying. On stage 18 (very hilly, flat finish) I want to put Txurruka in the break. He's 35th overall, 42min down, 72HIL. Should be all right? No way. The moment I press the attack button, Rabo and Movistar (who have no-one in the top5, no potential stage winner and are nowhere on team GC) put loads of men on the front of the peloton riding at 50kmh. This happens everytime I try. No other riders attempt breakaways, yet Txurruka is never allowed to leave. I understand that dangerous riders are not allowed to escape IRL, but hey! Txurruka?
I have seen a similar thing but it does not only happen to your riders. I guess certain stages are like that. But I still managed to get my rider into the break.
Just wait a while, it is no problem as long as no other riders attack, and if they do, counter attack them. Else try it on a climb, if you attack 2km before the top, it might work. Just watch out for your sprinters in case the peloton speeds up.

I'm not so sure about that.
The 18th stage ended with a flat sprint in a 30 man group since no breakaway was allowed to form as Txurruka was in all of them. I won with Anton ahead of F.Schleck with Sagan, Cunego and Di Luca further behind, but I guess results like that will be fixed with the stats of the PCM.daily DB.
Anyway... I tried again on stage 19, which was very similar to 18. Once again, Txurruka was reeled in every time, when attacking alone or with others. Most of the time I tried to get away with Bertagnolli (41st) and Albasini. No chance. But once I stopped trying with Txurruka, Bertagnolli & Albasini got a gap immediately. Bertagnolli's a much better hilly rider, and only 6 places lower on GC. The AI obviously hates little Amets.
I only said that it does not only happen to your riders. I did not say anything about that particular moment in your career.
I have seen that the peloton chases any break away very hard (60km/h) even when none of my riders are in the break away.
Then I have seen the peloton chasing my rider.
But also I have seen that my rider was successful after the third or fourth attack.
So your experience is just one of many possible things what can happen at the start of a stage, and I hope that you agree that it is best to have as many different situations as possible because else the game would become boring soon. (Even if it can be frustrating at some point.)
I'm a quite experienced PCM player, so I'm perfectly aware of how the peloton usually reacts in the early parts of a stage.
My least favourite thing about PCM is discovering patterns and pre-determined behaviours, and that is what I'm seeing here. I'm just a bit baffled at this particular pattern of AI behaviour, as I don't understand what triggers it. It doesn't make sense.
