I'm Norwegian and I'd like to say that this thread is dumb. You're probably attempting to be funny but it's not working. It's just weak. |

This is not funny, at all. Not even for Norwegians.

Norway is 22nd on the UCI World Tour nations ranking if that's what you are referring to?
Yeah, he means the World Tour, but only so far this Tour de France. One of the norwegian commentators talked a lot about that today, saying "Norway might be the best nation on the World Tour ranking so far in the Tour."
*Puts the uniform on*
But please fellow norwegians. Please stop these threads. We don't see any ruben making a thread about the awesomeness of Gesink when he wins (random example), or Brits making threads for Cavendish when he wins (would been a lot of threads!), or Guido for Taaramäe when he does well (another random example).
It's just annoying, and the excuse "It's a joke, get the irony," is a bad one. Of course we cheer for norwegians, but we don't need to overkill the joy everytime a norwegian does well. *Takes the uniform off*
And yeah, I know I just gave you more fuel to continue such threads
But you are in all ways overdoing it, and it starts to get really annoying. |

no, not that one.
And btw, that one is not updated, but no not that one
Even if the ranking was updated Norway wouldn't be more than 16 or 17.
Which one then? The CQ nations ranking where Norway is a flabbergasting 14th? You can't just pull a statement like that out of your ass without being able to validate it.
EDIT: I see Ember has answered before I even posted this.

You clearly weren't around 8 years ago or something, were you ?
More seriously, someone mentioned oil dollars here above. With Gulf countries growing interest in sports, and seeking for international visibility through sports, I'm wondering how long it will take before the Tour de France starts there or holds a couple of stages there.
They've bought the majority of Paris Saint-Germain shares, they've bought a part of the French Ligue 1 broadcasting, and they're clearly interested in much more.
And they've got more oil than Norway (for now at least), so, they're more likely to host a TDF Grand Départ than Norway. |

Tour de France starting in Dubai? They'd probably build a skyscraper for some weird kind of mountain-prologue to be held inside the building. |

Oh, I didn't read through the opening post thoroughly. I thought you just wanted the first stage in Norway but I see you want twenty of them. Then it's obviously an attempt to be funny. I'll give you 0/10 on the humor scale. |
