Would love to see Cance win something, would at least save his spring season at least
- 2nd MSR
- 2nd Roubaix
- 3rd Ronde
Aswell as 1st in E3 Prijs.
Just cause he didnt win a monument, doesnt mean his season needs saving!
Certainly, but he must feel dissapointed as his target was to repeat his success from 2010, he came so close but he didn't get any momument so far. These results are great, and he was by far strongest rider this spring concerning cobbles. But if he won one of the three, it would make his spring season ( don't know what word to use ) much happier one.

If Cance had a bad spring season, then Hushovd, Boonen, Pozzato, Flecha and Balland had a TERRIBLE spring season. |

They wasnt huge huge favorite for both races like Cance. But yeah, for Boonen and Pozzato it wasnt a very good sprint season. Hushovd was strong, but because of a teammate he couldnt go for the win, and for Ballan, its long time ago he have been that strong.
But thats your opinion, my opinion is that Cances sprint season was bad.

For a rider like Cancellara taking second places or third places is not something to collect on. Apart from that with three podiums at MSR, Roubaix and at the Ronde is very good. |

Not at all. I have a strange feeling he's not focusing in the classics, and someone like Martin, Le Mevel, Stetina or Vande Velde will be the leaders.
Hesjedal probably wont get a top 5 in any of the 3 classics.

I find it a stupid mod decision to close the Amstel Gold Race thread and put every Ardennes classic in 1 thread.
That's incredble really. We have seperate threads for RVV and Roubaix, but not for amstel/fleche/LBL?
I call total bullshit. |

This thread was first, so I figured pointless to start the discussions afresh - and we just had the one Ardennes thread last year
We dont usually have threads for every single race, but if enough people other than Ruben would prefer one per race then it doesnt really bother me, get another Admin to change which thread is locked!

The admins are stiffling us,
REBEL
or, you know, the ardennes thread was here first, and Fleche doesn't really earn it's own thread, any more than Pais Vasco does, and I guess some overlap does't really bother me.

The Amstel/Liege overlap or Amstel/Fleche overlap or Fleche/Liege overlap would really bother me though
I mean, it's like a combined Roland Garros/Wimbledon topic on a tennis forum..that wouldn't make much sense either |

Surely:
Tennis: Roland Garros/Wimbledon
Cycling: Giro/Tour

Nothing makes sense anyway. One day Flèche or Liège might Vanish and Amstel be promoted as a monument, or who knows whichever nowadays 2.2 race will become a monument in 250 years...
I'd say the interest of separated threads mostly lies in the number of messages each race might get, but as there are a couple of days separating them from each other, it's no big deal to have only one thread. I wouldn't mind two or three either. Separated threads for Paris-Nice and Tirenno makes sense as they're run at the same time, but here it's not case... |

I would say for 3 similar races like these so closely spaced together in the year, the only pro for having seperate threads would be for people downloading the stages so that they dont accidentally see a spoiler.

I reckon the Schlecks are going to be supercharged for these races and should win at least two.
Spoiler *However, Frankie will no doubt manage to fall off at some stage and break something.

Gilbert is in super shape. lets hope he has a good day in LBL
prevent hangovers --> stay drunk
pozzato, basically the most stupid cyclist around
RIP WW. Gone but not forgotten

I can't see past Gilbert for the Amstel, and to win in Liège whoever of them should arrive alone, or with a equally non-fast rider. Unfortunately for them, most of their potential rivals are faster than them so...
This said, I suck at predicting, so it might very well happen that Andrew beats Gilbert and Cunego in a sprint for the win in L-B-L. |
