Rapha Condor - Qhubeka

Great signing! Bibby was on my shortlist too, but when I saw you immediately bidded over me the first time, I figured he was one of your "must have" targets, so I just left it.

Nice signing, he has the stats to be great in the CT.

Qhubeka leads signing of 11 Africans

img819.imageshack.us/img819/2072/afrnatchamps.png

As part of our move into African cycling this transfers season, 4 national champions have been signed. This includes Gabonese rider Charles Anguilet, who won Stage 3 of the Sachsen Tour International U23 Division race last year - a race that was won overall by another of our new signings Kenyan Hillary Kiprotich. Kiprotich is not a Kenyan national champion, but Mujtaba Hussein is the Kenyan time trial champion.

Our 3rd Kenyan signing is Zakayo Ndbri from Pirelli, who will lead the team whenever we stumple upon a mountain stage in a race. He will receive support from Algerian champion Abdelkader Belmokhtar, who suffered a year of neglect at Red Bull last season, Some young potential climbers of the future are also signed: Ethiopian Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay and Eritreans Tesfar Teklit and Natnael Berhane.

Two riders have also been brought in to aid our cobbles department. Gabonese Amadou Bakari has been 10th in E3 Prijs before, and finished 29th in last year's Paris-Roubaix! Namibian Ermin van Wyk also finally receives an opportunity, having previously signed for the Alpro team in 2010, only for them to fold and not participate in any races.

Most of the Africans we have signed are very much entering a year of personal development, gaining experience all over the world, but our last African signing has done all of that before, and could achieve a few small results even! Egyptian champion Cherif Abdallah from Pendleton's Twicer. He came to our attention last season with results such as 5th in a Tour of Britain stage, and Overall Top 20s in the Tour of Ireland, Abergavenny Criterium and Down Under Classic.

And National Champions require jerseys!

Looking good - nice to see you signed up a large proportion of my surprisingly successful U23 Team.

I like this African thing you're doing with your CT team. These pack of national champions surely makes it more visible and pleasant to follow.

3rd, 5th and 6th as Rapha storm to the top
www.pcmdaily.com/images/raphamtn.png

Rapha Condor - Qhubeka delivered in style in the season opener to go straight to the top of the overall rankings. Its a great feeling to be ranked number 1, not just in the overall rankings but in the African Tour standings aswell - winning these standings being a major aim for the season.

Chris Froome took 3rd in the MTN Cycling Classic, so nearly taking victory, while Jonathan Bellis was 5th and Alex Dowsett 6th - a much better performance than could have been imagined. Dale Appleby would have scored ranking points also, if not for an unlucky fall with a kilometre to go.

Our 4 new African signings all finished within the Top 80, and rode in in pairs, Teklit and Grmay thus completing their first professional race.

We wont be defending our rankings lead in the next couple of races, but return later this month at the Tour of Wellington.

Squads for upcoming races

www.pcmdaily.com/images/raphawell.png

Already arrived in New Zealand are our squad of 7 for the Tour of Wellington race. We have a good history here, Andy Tennant and Ben Swift winning stages 2 years ago, Ian Stannard winning a stage last year. Last year was less good for Chris Froome, an early crash costing him a Top GC position after he went on to take 2nd in the queen stage - behind none other than Jonny Bellis.

Froome leads the team here, after a strong start in South Africa. Meanwhile Peter Kennaugh opens his season, targeting the couple of sprint stages on offer. Wes Sulzberger can help both achieve that, Dale Appleby is here for Froome, with Africans Anguilet, Teklit and Kiprotich completing the roster.

After Wellington, Sulzberger, Teklit and Appleby then fly straight back to France for the Tour Meditteraneen. Jonathan Bellis takes the lead in this hilly stage race, and will hope to conquer Mont Faron for victory. Jiriakov, Grmay and Berhane also ride.

Kennaugh takes first win, Froome close again

i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww77/untal16/Man-Game%20Wellington/PCM0018.jpg

We continued our streak of leaving the Tour of Wellington with a stage win, as Peter Kennaugh sprinted to our first season victory on Stage 1 in New Zealand, meanwhile Chris Froome once again came agonisingly close to overall victory. Nearly there in MTN, and just 7 seconds short in Wellington, despite being the most consistently strong rider in the hills. A bad Stage 4 cost the rest of the team what had been good all round GC placings.

Tennant leads the way against the ProTour teams

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/ManGame/MG20121/20-Tennettakesafamouswin.jpg

Rapha Condor - Qhubeka recently competed in the ProTour Tour of Oman and Tirreno-Adriatico races - to great success. Andrew Teannant was the real star, with two great stage wins in very different circumstances. In Oman, a perfectly timed late attack was too much for the sprinters, and in Tirreno he took out victory in the time trial. Winning Italian time trials will hopefully become a pattern for Tennant, as he prepares for his opening CT race of the season, the Giro del Trentino.

Also deserving of high praise is Chris Froome. Having used Tour of Oman to get up to speed with the ProTour pace, Froome battled hard to an amazing 5th overall at Tirreno-Adriatico, in amongst some of the best puncheurs in the world. The race was a great opportunity for Bellis and Froome to ride together - rather than pursuing their separate schedules - and Bellis supported Froome very well when required, while on his own way to 13th place in GC.

Qhubeka was also very pleased with the African presence on our squads. Cherif Abdallah managed a Top 10 sprint performance while Tesfar Teklit, Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay and Charles Anguilet all made their debut ProTour apperances - with Teklit managing to hold the Tirreno King of the Mountains jersey for a couple of days. Zakay Ndbri meanwhile, was our highest placed rider in the Oman GC, taking 37th.

Bellis likes South Africa

Aside from the Tour Meditteraneen, where he finished 4th overall, team leader Jonathan Bellis' early season schedule has been very South African. 5th in the MTN Cycling Classic was just the start...

Tour of South Africa? Won.

Tour of Boland? Won.

Only 6th in Cape Argus though, and then 6th in the Eschborn-Frankfurt race.

But one thing is for sure. The continental rankings leader is looking forward to the Giro del Capo later in the season!

Froome fights back

The season started well with Chris Froome, with 2nd in the MTN Classic - beating Bellis - and then 2nd in the Tour of Wellington. But he could only watch on as Bellis tore apart the division.

While Bellis won the Tour of South Africa, Froome was 7th in the GP Lugano. And after a training period, he returned to action to take only 11th in Giro dell Appenino.

But the form was there, and Froome led a team to Japan to prove just that.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Japan/mg_japan_2_52.jpg
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Japan/mg_japan_4_29.jpg
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Japan/mg_japan_6_22.jpg

3 hilly stages, 3 victories.

A GC podium would have followed, if not for a last stage crash. Instead it was 7th overall, and a share of the Points jersey.

A return to New Zealand for the Tour of Southland brings Froome his next opportunity to close the gap to Bellis

Legally can't, as we designers are using brand logos without permission, technically. What we do is legal, stealing others designs and selling branded products for a profit is, i'm assuming, very illegal.

Anyway, sorry to go off topic in your thread, SN, but thanks for bringing this to our attention Pfft
