Santander would like to enquire into Intxausti's availability
We are quite happy to keep Intxausti, but anyone is free to make an offer for him, and should something stand out, then it may be possible. We wont actively be looking for a sale though.

Clarification on Team Leaders
Despite rumours of multi-million euro offers being made for 2 of Vesuvio-Accumalux's 3 leaders, we can confirm that Frank Schleck, Rigoberto Uran and Benat Intxausti are going nowhere, and will lead the team in the 2012 season.

Swift Strengthens Vesuvio
Swift beating Wiggle and Bacardi - more of the same expected this year!
After 12 wins in the past 2 seasons for 100% Me, including last year's Tour of Ireland, Ben Swift has made the step up this year, signing for Vesuvio-Accumalux for a fee of 1.25 million Euros.
His 2011 may not have been as good as a very good 2010, as he began to become more and more interested in really testing himself at the top of the sport - the best 100% Me could offer him was a ride in some cobbled classics!
And for Vesuvio, it marks the first time since Oscar Freire winning the Vuelta points jersey in 2009, that we have had a strong sprinter on our roster. The Tour of Qatar is an obviously target, while it can be guaranteed that Swift will at last be making his Grand Tour debut.
Support in the sprints come from Luxembourgian Nico Schinker, and a rider on loan from Team Bianchi: Andreas Stauff.

Team Leaders
No change on the team leadership front this year, Schleck, Uran and Intxausti continue their partnership. Well, I call it a partnership, but they dont exactly ride many races together!
Frank Schleck
2011: Vesuvio-Accumalux
2010: Accumalux-Huez
2009: Accumalux-Formex
2008: Accumalux
2007: Saunier Duval
Major victories:
Tour de France 2008
ProTour Individual Rankings 2009
Liege-Bastogne-Liege 2010, 2011
Giro di Lombardia 2011
After 9 victories last season, Frank Schleck continues into 2012 as the figurehead for our team for the 6th straight season - and he will be extra motivated this season to continue to lead from the front before his skills start to decrease. He will of course be taking aim at a Liege-Bastogne-Liege hatrick, amid great compeitition, while aspiring for the Ardennes triple that he came so close to in 2010. Beyond this, his race schedule remains a mystery.

Best performances:
1st, Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2010. (2nd in 2011)
2nd, Deutschland Tour 2011
5th, Vuelta a Espana 2010 and Tour de France 2011
Rigoberto Uran impressed in his first season in the team in arguably his best year yet. He may not have taken a GC victory like in 2010, but he sure came close, with podium finishes in Germany, Catalunya and the Tour de Suisse. His best showing came in the Tour de France though, winning Stage 8 and holding the maillot jaune for a number of days, before ultimately finishing 5th. Rigoberto will of course ride in a Grand Tour once again, and he also is said to be very excited about the return of the Vuelta a Colombia to the ProTour.

Best performances:

3rd, Dauphine Libere 2010
5th, Tour de France 2010
2011 could have been Intxausti's best year, but a crash, and bad sportsmanship on rival teams dashed him of a potential Vuelta Espana triumph having won the opening stage and led for a long period, ultimately fading to a dissapointing 8th, having already underperformed at the Giro. The fact that he did at least take his first pro win in the race, was the only consolation - better is expected this year.

Climbers - Mountains
Theres no use having a top GC rider if you dont have the team to support him. Its lucky for Uran and Intxausti then, that we can provide just that.
Maxim Iglinski
2011: Vesuvio-Accumalux
2010: Accumalux-Huez
2009: Accumalux-Formex
2008: Virgin Media
2007: Astana
Best performances:
Giro d'Italia Stage win 2010
4th, Fleche Wallone 2008
8th, Classique du Grand-Duche 2011
In the past, Maxim Iglinski has had to be used as a support for Frank Schleck in the hills aswell as elsewhere for his mountain skills - but a strengthened squad is good news for Maxim, as he can now ride more in the mountains that he prefers - riding as the best 2nd rider in a team in GC at the Tour de France before a late crash last year, just an example of what he can do.
Mwangi Samwel
2011: Bimbo Nutella (On loan from us)
2010: Accumalux-Huez
Best performances:
1st, Vuelta Chihuahua 2011
2nd, Jelajah Malaysia 2011
4th, Tour de Slovenie 2011
23rd, Giro di Lombardia 2010
Its fair to say Mwangi Samwel enjoyed his year on loan in the continental division, taking full advantage of the change to lead a team on occasion - and capping it off with a GC victory in Mexico. Now back in his main, stronger and better team though, he will relish the chance to ride for the team in some of the world's best races.
Dmitri Medvedev
2011: Vesuvio-Accumalux
2010: Sony Ericsson
2009: Sony Ericsson
2008: Designa Køkken
Best performances:
1st, Paris-Nice 2011, Stage 6
4th, Jelajah Malaysia 2010
44th, Giro d'Italia 2011
48th, Tour de France 2011
The newly crowned Russian champion has blossomed in his role as pure climber here, taking his first pro victory in Paris-Nice, and following that at the Russian Championships at the end of the season. Ignore the flat and the hills, he can hang in there well on the climbs - or on occasion, get in the early break and hold off the main climbers to the line.
João Cabreira
2011: Vesuvio-Accumalux
2010: Accumalux-Huez
2009: LA/MSS/Pearl Jam
Best performances:
29th, Tour de Suisse 2010
Tour de France: 41st (2010), 44th (2011)
41st, Giro d'Italia 2011
42nd, Vuelta a Espana 2010
The Portugese element to our climbing support, still not quite able to crack a Top 40 GT placing - perhaps that can be changed this year?
Matea Kvasina
2011: Vesuvio-Accumalux
2010: Accumalux-Huez
2009: Accumalux-Formex
2008: HealthNet p/b Maxxis
Best Performances:
14th, Paris-Nice 2011
17th, Tour of Romandie 2010
Giro d'Italia: 28th (2009), 36th (2011), 42nd (2010)
Tour de France: 36th (2010), 39th (2009), 45th (2011)
Vuelta a Espana: 38th (2010), 38th (2011)
Matea has now ridden in 8 of the last 9 Grand Tours, and has finished in the Top 45 in all of them. But in races such as Paris-Nice last year, he showed the Grand Tours are not the only place where he can go well for the team.

Tour of Qatar
An incredible start to the season! 2nd in the TTT, barely missing out on victory, with Ben Swift also taking 2nd on Stage 3 and Stage 6, plus of course, winning Stage 4, the Overall GC, the Points classification and the best Young rider classification!
Stauff and Schinker delivered a brilliant leadout, with help from Kittel, while the team as a whole worked very well to control the peloton, as well as splitting it up on Stage 2.
1 Ben Swift Vesuvio-Accumalux 15h28'00
6 Nico Schinker Vesuvio-Accumalux + 41
8 Andreas Stauff Vesuvio-Accumalux s.t.
9 Marcel Barth Vesuvio-Accumalux s.t.
10 Drasutis Stundzia Vesuvio-Accumalux s.t.
11 Marcel Kittel Vesuvio-Accumalux s.t.
15 Michael Ford Vesuvio-Accumalux + 46
17 Nick Clesen Vesuvio-Accumalux + 47
Next stop: More TTTing in Oman, plus climbign aswell, as Uran and Intxausti make their season debut.

Kittel 'just friends' with doping doctor
Recent German media reports have linked German rider Marcel Kittel, currently riding the Giro d'Italia, to doping.
In a a brief statement, Kittel denied the claims.
"There is no way that I would ever dope"
When asked if he knew the Doctor involved, Herr Drogenabhängige, Kittel replied. "Yes, of course. We are good friends, but that is all. There is nothing more to our relationship. It is purely coincidence that I plan to visit him just before the German time trial championships."
Since Kittel has never won an individual time trial, we are inclined to believe him. He will continue to ride the Giro.

Not as many on-the-road wins as various other teams, but enough consistency to haul in the points!
---
Meanwhile, there are rumours that Frank Schleck has been holding long transfer discussions with the team managers. And that Rigoberto Uran and Benat Intxausti aren't too impressed with what Frank is suggesting...

Frank could be also leaving to the team where Andy (hopefully) end up
That could be also very negative for Uran and Intxausti because the team would leave a big hole to fill

You seem to misunderstand in both sentences. Sentence 1 has 0% of ever happening, and Uran and Intxausti would only be leaving because that hole had been already filled.

Yup. Ive tried every season really, but PMs to setzel didnt usually get any response!
Im not keen on dropping either Uran or Intxausti but since Ive just won the ProTour, Operation Brother-Love has got to be attempted!

If you look at real life "operation brotherly love" is doomed to fail...
I like to see this team acctually, it is a real luxemburgian team
