Team Festina manager Andreas Jøhnke speaks of great friendship with both Remco Te Brake and Niki Østergaard. Both riders served him in their first professionel year at Team Ultimate and will be very welcome at the team. Lasse Bøchman, a fellow dane, would also be a pleassant helper.

As to Ole Haavardsholm team manager Andreas Jøhnke is in doubt of the gain for the rider. "I'm not feeling confident he will gain more from the Pro Tour, than the Continental Tour at this point. If the manager decides that is the best, then we are obviously taking a look at the potential, and then we have to sit down, and have a chat with both team manager and the rider."

HC races

Volkswagen-Siemens will race the following HC-races the coming season:

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/SAF.pngMTN cycling classic
First race of the season, and is a pretty standard hilly race. The team hope to sign a rider who can lead the team in this race

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/ARG.pngTour de San Luis
After the mountains in Venezuela (Tachira) the trip goes to Argentina. Rohregger will lead the team if no new stage racers are signed

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/MAS.pngTour de Langkawi
The Malaysian stage race was last year won by Bernhard Kohl. This year our own Austrian Rohregger might lead the team. If noone else are signed over the season.

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/FRA.pngCorsica International
A short french stage race, suited for climbers. Rohregger will mostly likely lead the team and go for a top 5

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/NED.pngProfonde Van Drenthe
Not exactly the race the team will concentrate on next year, but we will be here. If we get points we are happy

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngBayern Rundfahrt
The most important race of the year, our german home race. We will send a really good team here

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngBerlin ProRace
A new flat german race in Berlin, with our experience in flat classics and the fact that it is in Germany we want a good result in this race

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/USA.pngPhiladelphia International Classic
A flat race who wants to be hilly, or a hilly race that likes to pretend it's flat. We will send a team that can both attack and sprint for this race

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/POL.pngTour de Pologne
The hilly classic from Poland is back and the team hope to do a good race in our favorite country to invade

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/SPA.pngVuelta a Burgos
The team plans to have a strong TT squad, and together with a good climber we hope to do well in Spain

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GBR.pngTour of Britain
A stage race with both hills and flat stages, considering that the sprinting competition will be strong we will focus on the GC if possible, but might send a sprinter

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/JAP.pngJapan Cup
The last HC race of the season, and we hope to finish the season with a blast!

The changes from Telenor-SAS to Volkswagen-Siemens keep going on, and the following riders might leave the squad if the right offers come along:

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/SWE.pngFredrik Kessiakoff
The Swedish stage racer finished high in last years continental tour and are ready for new challenges, his personal dream is to join one of the Swedish teams, but he will consider any offers.

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/SPA.pngXavier Florencio
The Spanish all-rounder might be looking for a new team, he had a good season last year, winning a stage at the Tour de Beauce. He's usefull in all terrains

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/DEN.pngThomas Vedel Kvist
The quick and young dane spent last season training in Festina, he's ready to do well this season, he's a good sprinter and leadout with good flat stats and ok cobble stats

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/FIN.pngJussi Veikkanen
The finnish TT-champion will be able to leave the team, he can be usefull in TTT's and can do well in breaks.

Tomas Vaitkus
One of the captains of the team last year, he showed his strenght by winning Fyen Rundt.

Adding to those riders the team will also listen to offers for Østergaard, Bøchman and other riders if they are good enough. Even Haavardsholm might leave if the offer is good.

Wen Hao Li going to Volkswagen-Siemens on loan, Lasse Bøchman and Ole Haavardsholm leaving the squad on loan

The young Chinese time-trialist Wen Hao Li have decided to spend a year in Germany with Volkswagen-Siemens to hone his skills, in the same deal with his team Festina Lasse Bøchman will get to try his skills in the Pro Tour

In other news Ole Haavardsholm will spend a year away from the team to get some extra training, we wish the young Norwegian good luck in Italy!

Volkswagen signs dutch star

The dutch stage racer Robin van der Hugenhaben are rumored to be going to the new german outfit. The deal for the dutchman included Xavier Florencio and a good amount of money. Manager Heine has not been open for any comments.

Volkswagen-Siemens keeps changing

Last years stars Tomas Vaitkus and Fredrik Kessiakoff are leaving the Volkswagen-Siemens squad to try their luck in new places. They will be missed by the management, but their replacements are also strong riders.

First and foremost the German supertalent Alexandar Flügel have signed for the team, he's dubbed the next great German puncheur and will be one of the main leaders of the team.

The next signings for the team are 2 young talents, Gregory Brenes and Ruben Zepuntke. Zepuntke are one of the greatest talents in Germany and might become the next Burghardt on cobbled terrain.

Two other talents who have signed for Volkswagen are Preidler and Schorn, both are big Austrian talents and will in the future become 2 of the greatest Austrian riders in the peloton. Schorn is your typical sprinter, while Prediler will become an accomplished stage racer.

So to sum it up, the team are turning more towards talents and will hope to develop the squad into one of the top teams in the future.

roturn
Flügel and Zepuntke are great signing. Would have loved to have them in my team to be honest. But with so many German teams around this just wasn`t posible I think.

Congratulations on Flügel, he's already top notch on the hills in the CT. Also, all the talents you're taking in should prove handy in a couple of seasons. Well done Smile

Brenes is quite a bargain at 50k too, will be useful in due course

I was suprised I got Brenes that cheap, but I wont complain Grin

Kai Reus signs for VolksWagen-Siemens

Volkswagen-Siemens are not taking it easy in this years transfer season, 6 riders have already left the team, while Haavardsholm and Bøchman are taking a year away from the team for training. At the same time 8 riders have signed with the team, and 1 on loan.

The last signing are the well known dutch puncheur and timetrialist Kai Reus. Reus rode last year for the biggest suprise team in the Pro Tour Senoble-Look, and the year before that he rode for Jack Wolfskin during their promotion campaign.

Maybe Reus is the last piece that Volkswagen need for promotion? His record sounds promising atleast.

VolksWagen-Siemens team ready for the new season

With the last signings (Marzano, Loddo, Anacona, Predatsch and Förster) ready for the team, it's time to announce the line-up for the coming season, changes in this are not likely at all and will only happen if we get a sensational bid.

First, the riders who were contracted to the team last year, and will be once again:

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/SPA.pngBenjamin Noval
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/AUT.pngChristian Pfannberger
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngLucas Schädlich
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngAndreas Klier
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/ITA.pngFabio Sabatini
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/FIN.pngJussi Veikkanen

Not many riders staying with the team, and most of them will be domestiques, 3 names to note are Noval, who will be our number one mountain helper and might get a few chanses for his own, Schädlich who is the best timetrialist in the continental tour and will get the team some stage wins, and Sabatini, one of the three sprinters of the team.

Then we will take the talents who will ride for the team this season:

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.png Rick Zabel
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.png Kevin Predatsch
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/AUT.png Georg Preidler
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/AUT.png Daniel Schorn
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/CRC.png Gregory Brenes
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/COL.png Winner Anacona

All there are great talents in our eyes, and will race for experience this year, before going to get more important positions in our team in the future.

Then we got the new domestique signed:

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.png Christian Müller

Christian is a good time trialist and will be a great support for the team in the many team time trials in the CT this year.

At last we got the new captains signed by the team:

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.png Alexandar Flügel
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.png Robert Förster
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/ITA.png Marco Marzano
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/ITA.png Alberto Loddo
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/NED.png Kai Reus
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/UKR.png Vadim Ratiy

We believe this guys will lead our team well this year!

We also got one rider loaned in:
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/CHI.png Wen Hao Li

And the following riders loaned out to get experience:

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.png Ruben Zepuntke
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/DEN.png Lasse Bøchman
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/DEN.png Niki Østergaard
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/NOR.pngOle Haavardsholm

The squad will be better presented at a later date, when everything is finalized.

GC-leaders

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/NED.pngKai Reus

Riding last season for Senoble-Look, the big suprise of the Pro Tour. This season Reus have decided to join VolksWagen-Siemens and will be one of the main leaders of the team. Reus are one of the best time-trialists in the CT and are also a top rider over the hills. The team management expects alot from him.

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/UKR.pngVadim Ratiy

Riding last season for the Lipton Ice Tea team. He was their super domestique, but felt that he should have the chanse to ride for himself. This season he will be one of two leaders for VolksWagen-Siemens when the rode starts to rise and will hopefully show that he was worth the team record fee we paid for him.

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/ITA.pngMarco Marzano

Last season he was one of the leaders for the team winning the Pro Tour, and himself finishing, among other results, 8th in the Giro. Marzano will lead the team when the road starts to rise and we are sure he will give us some good results. We also hope that having him in the team will give us a good shot at getting a Giro-wildcard

Classic leaders

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngAlexandar Flügel

After last years clear CT winner, Ikea-Bianchi abandoned Flügel had to look for a new team. As he was perhaps the main goal for us during the transfer season we managed to get his signature and he will be the clear leader for all hilly classics this season.

Sprinters

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/ITA.pngFabio Sabatini

Coming back for a second year at the team Sabatini will hopefully contiue were he left off last year. He is not the fastest sprinter in the world, but we believe he got the skills we need this season. He's also one of the three Italians of the team that we hope will get the possibility to race in their big home tour.

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/ITA.pngAlberto Loddo

Loddo raced at Pirelli-Internazionale last year, but decided that the VolksWagen-Siemens project were the place he needed to be this season. He is the fastest sprinter on the team and will hopefully give the same results this year as he did last year. He's the third Italian of the team, and we all know that he wants to ride the Giro

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngRobert Förster

The aging German sprinter got promoted with UBS last season, but could not get a new contract. This year he will be a sprinter, and also a mentor for our 2 young sprinters (Zabel and Schorn) We hope that Förster still got some stage wins left in him

Lieutenants

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngLucas Schädlich

Last season he was loaned out to Festina, this season Lucas are ready to show that he's one of the best Time-trialists in the CT.

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/SPA.pngBenjamin Noval

Noval had a good season last year at the team, but will have less of an important role this year. Still he will be the main helper for Ratiy and Marzano, and might even get some good results himself

Domestiques, talents and loanies to be presented later.

Müller and Veikkanen are there to help in TTT's and are both good Time Trialers, Klier and Pfannberger gives the team experience and are good support riders

The talents

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngRick Zabel
i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/GER.pngKevin Predatsch

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/NOR.pngOle HaavardsholmLoaned out

One of the strongest, if not the strongest, talent pool in the world. Zepuntke are a future winner of Ronde Van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix, and he will then get good support from Niki Østergaard. Rick Zabel are his fathers son and will be one of the best sprinters in the world, with Schorn going to turn into a good leadout man. Preidler, Brenes and Anacona will become a feared climbing trio, while Haavardsholm and Bøchman will become good puncheurs. The last talent are a rider who will become a really good timetrialst, Kevin Predatsch. All in all a great pool of talents.

Volkswagen-Siemens for the Giro!

With the signing of Marco Marzano and Alberto Loddo Volkswagen-Siemens made it an official goal to get a wildcard for the giro. Yesterday it was announced that they would indeed get a wildcard for the race!

The lineup who will race is not yet totally ready, but we at Spiegel has been able to make an educated guess:

Leader: Marco Marzano
Co-Leader: Vadim Ratiy
Sprinter: Alberto Loddo
Leadout: Fabio Sabataini
Leadout: Robert Förster
Mountain helper: Benjamin Noval
Mountain helper: Christian Pfannberger

We are pretty sure that those 7 will ride, the 2 last places are a big question mark however, we do believe it will be used for 2 talents, as news say that the other "leaders" of VolksWagen will be out racing other races.

We will be back when we know more

I like to see a German team in one of the 3 GT`s.
Förster for another Milano win. Wink
In general a strong squad.

Start of the season

The team started of in MTN cycling classic where the new youngster Preidler managed to become a part of the break of the day, and then support our always attacking star Alexandar Flügel during his many attacks. Also Li and Predatsch were able to support Flügel when he lapped them late in the race. Unfortunately even though he were the most active rider during the race it ended in a sprint among the strongest riders were Flügel managed a 7th. Still it's a good start.

www.pcmdaily.com/images/mtn14.jpg
Flügel during one of his many attacks

In other news the team is currently racing the Vuelta al Tachira were team-sprinter Fabio Sabatini are the current holder of the leaders jersey, and Wen Hao Li are leading the youth competition (infront of team mates Schädlich and Ratiy).

The first stage were a team timetrial. Here the team was the big favorite, but just couldn't handle the pressure, ending less than a second behind Team WWE, lead by our former rider Fredrik Kessiakoff.

The second stage was won by Jonas Aaen Jørgensen for the Norwegian team Aker-Solutions, but Sabatini captured third, and with the help from the TTT he stole the leaders jersey.

For the rest of the race there are 2 more stages where Sabatini can get a good results, after that the team will be racing for Vadim Ratiy and hopefully getting him a top 5 and winning the youth competition.

Lineup for Tour of Wellington and Tour de San Luis

Volkswagen-Siemens are proud to present the following squad for the Tour of Wellington:

Alexandar Flügel
Christian Pfannberger
Gregory Brenes
Winner Anacona
Robert Förster
Rick Zabel
Daniel Schorn

We are sending a pretty good squad here, with Flügel as our leader and Förster as our sprinter. We are not sure who other teams are sending, but we believe that Flügel will be able to get a good GC position.

For the Tour de San Luis we are sending the following squad:

Vadim Ratiy
Marco Marzano
Lucas Schädlich
Benjamin Noval
Alberto Loddo
Winner Anacona
Georg Preidler
Daniel Schorn

We are sending a really strong squad to Argentina, and we expect atleast a podium and a stage win. We got Ratiy and Marzano who will co-lead the team, the one who are strongest will lead in the end. Noval, Anacona and Preidler are there to support them in the mountains. Schädlich are both a domestique but he will also try to win the Time Trial. In the end we got Loddo as out sprinter in this race, Schorn is with him to support him. All in all we feel we got a super strong team for this race, really looking forward to it.

The Tour of Wellington will be quite interesting. Wegmann and Flügel are only two good punchers and i´m sure some other teams will aim for GC, too.

Update

The team has made a quick update to the result part, and are proud to show of 1 GC win, 1 Classic win, 3 stage wins (CT) and 1 stage win in the Pro Tour (Paris-Nice). Til now the season has been a sucsess and we hope it will contiue in the current races (Langkawi and Boland)
