Alberto can surely be a good laugh when he wants.
It does pose quite a paradox. Is spain at the front of the anti-doping campaign ( which is why spaniards are caught "a lot" ), or are they incompetent and politically inclined ( which is why their riders are sometimes let go ).
I'd like an objective evaluation of their perfomance, instead of politicized crap

Supposedly a super talent, struggled to turn pro, was left out of Roubaix (!!!) team after only one year, could hardly find another team afterwards. One's to wonder why that has been... Dodgy guy... |

Heh. I can't count how many times I've read/heard "rumours" about Taillefer, so this is no surprise at all.
Funny how the rumours from trustworthy people always seem to be spot on.

Nah, I agree with issoisso, I was just using the argument that I've gotten used to read here lately. I was actually teasing people who use it, especially in the most obvious cases.
Anyway Taillefer admitted it, so convicted or not, there's nothing to debate.
Also, that's not going to ring a bell to most of you, but the second rider involved is Jesus Salva Vilchez. He used to win a lot of Elite 2 (top amateurs at the time) races around here when I was a junior. Then he joined Jean Floc'h (Bretagne Schuller nowadays) for a couple of seasons, but never made it to the pro, despite being extremely strong. And a couple of years later (which means these days) : caught.

According to Danish media, the rules are being changed for green and polkadot jersey in Le Tour. Now there will be only one intermediate sprint on each stage, so that the placings on stages will mean more. Secondly the amount of riders who recieves points on climbs is lowered. From now on, only the 6 first on a HC climb will be awarded points |

That`s correct. Was already said some months ago.
On wikipedia there is a nice summary of the changes.

The "news" about the green jersey isn't really that new, I think I heard about this last year. It's an interessting system, but I don't think the top sprinters like Cav will gather a lot of point at the intermediate sprints
EDIT: Seriously: How hard can the quote-function be ?

The Brixia Tour 2011 abandoned because of financial problems.
It was normally held in the end of July. Last year Pozzovivo won the race. |

It's a major advantage for Cav who is a pure sprinter. A rider like Thor Hushovd, who depends entirely on intermediate sprints on tough stages, is out of the green jersey competition if he doesn't improve his sprinting.
I hope he leaves the green jersey fight to Farrar and concentrates whole-heartedly on the Worlds instead. But you never know with Hushovd. |

Well, it does depend on the placement of the points sprint within the stage

I don't think Hushovd will be the sprinter captain anyway, Farrar is the biggest threat to cav |

Yeah, but the rider will be using a lot of energy on only one intermediate sprint instead of maybe getting two with the old system. It isn't all that important anyway
But I don't get why they cut down on the intermediate sprints in the first place. Whats the reasoning behind it? |

Well, Hushovd has said that he will help Farrar win the green jersey, and focus on the two uphill finishes and the yellow jersey during the first week.
Oh, and by the way ponka00, the amount of points for 1st in an intermediate sprint is upped to 20 (I think), so the energy used on it could be well worth it.

20 points changes it, but I still don't get why they changed it. What was wrong with the old system? |
