Never thought about such a good result. Now it's time for Fothen to step it up.

Yeh, very hard to call. Great for me to have Uran leading the race, and a nice bonus for Kvasina to cling to 2nd

So there goes my faint hopes for a top 3 in the PT.

I have my doubts that Rogers can hold on in the mountain stage, though it could be one of those big group types that we saw a few times in the Vuelta.
Dekker, Fothen, Karpets and Uran stand out to me as the best climbers who can TT (without looking at the DB).... Fothen climbed well enough in the Dauphine (and climbed okay to begin with in the Tour) to suggest he may be the favourite in my eyes.
It is worth keep an eye on all those relegation threatened teams as well Pozzovivo, Efimkin, Popovich and Karpets were all top 10 there.

Castaño had me worried there for a second, but he managed to get to the front group without too much of an effort, so 4th in the GC, and with some direct competitors out of the eqaition he could be up for a low-end top 10 here. That would be a good way to minimize pointlosses, so that would be the dream for now.

Nah you still have 2 very strong races left, and also your hilly guy could strike lucky in one of the final races. I wouldn't write you out yet...

That was a very bad TTT, but alright -- Dekker seems to be able to handle this alone |

Good result from Gomez Marchante there. Not bad on the overall - hope he can still climb a place or two. |

A strange stage that one - it is almost as if everyone is waiting for that mountain stage. Big result for Castano - he did brilliantly at the Giro and again here what steak is he eating?
Let the bloodbath of the mountain stage begin!

Damn! Some much needed points here from not only a stagewin, but also leaders and sprinters jersey. So brilliant from Castaño. I have a dream that this shirt will bring a good result in the mountains stage. No chance he will win the race, but this gave me some points I hadn't calculated for, so very nice!

Another strong performance from Castaño here. I had hoped for some bigger gaps though as there are some very strong TT'ers behind him now within 2mins...
I would reckon a final top 10 would be something like this:
1 Markus Fothen
2 Rigoberto Úran
3 Thomas Dekker
4 Alexander Pluchkin
5 Michael Rogers
6 Jaroslav Popovych
7 Vladimir Karpets
8 Vincenzo Nibali
9 Carlos Castaño
10 Jurgen van den Broeck
My hopes was that Rogers had lost 5mins here, getting safely out of the top 10 battle... Luckily Madrazo seems to be quite good for a top 20 here, while Tim Dees should climb just inside the top 30...
I hope for a TT with super strong tailwinds in order to make a fast time, and small gaps. Only then Castaño can be secure in the top 10.

Uran as high as 2nd? Id be content with 3rd really, concerned about Dekker behind and surely he cant hold off Pluchkin with only a 3 second advantage?
And surprised you still see Castano as ending so low. Is he really going to lose over a minute to Popovych and over 2 to Karpets and Nibali?

Castano lost 40 seconds to Dekker last year, so he may well hold Dekker off, I reckon Castano could even be on the podium going into the fall over stage.

SotD goes one way, you go the other. I think youll be closer to what happens, but to lose less than 20 seconds to Uran and Pluchkin in a 45km ITT - that would take quite an overperformance, even in Castano's overperforming standards.

Fothen has recovered from a poor Tour de France to post an excellent stage victory and surely big big favourite for the overall.
Keeping an eye on the Carmuese/Nespresso/Energie Diesal/Cafe de Columbia relegation battle (though Starbucks taking the KoM means they have not got completely away). I do get the distinct impression that Cafe de Columbia are slowly being sucked into the mire! Carmuese should be pulling away a bit after this one with Popovich and Roelandts in the flat stages to come.
Certainly was a backwards and forwards stage - I thought anything could happen on that mountain.

Yeah that's not going to happen. Rogers is also almost a given for taking 2+ minutes, unless this is a very fast TT...
