Vespa have chance of results in most races we have left. Then again, we've had chances in all the previous races too. Poor season.
Top 6 last year with Ginanni - Basso - Napolitano - Proni as main points scorers.
Far worse this year with Ginanni - Bosisio - Steegmans - Proni as main points scorers. Thought we'd be doing better.
Looking at your team, theres Steegmans @750k, Ginanni @505k, and then all others below 100k. And really, I think the problem is there - Steegmans has cost too much, at the expense of being able to build depth in your squad.
I think Steegmans might have been the 3rd best cobbled scorer, collecting 364 points from 14 race days. Elsewhere, he has taken 20 points from 10 race days in stage races. With so many top sprinters in CT, and the limited number of cobbled races, its not really worked out - 750k is too much for a cobbled rider (in the context that Blythe is 375k and Vanspeybrouck 170k). And with Ginanni being less succesful than last year, you're not left with much. (You cant really expect too much from Proni, he is only 75 hill afterall)

Is it possible for the fantasy betting people to directly edit how much everyone has? I'd love to wager some of my cash with you Waggy. If it is possible, I'm willing to put 82.50 (all Waghlon has) down on this. |

I, more or less, have a same based team. Difference is though that Ricco is the top climber in CT an in the top 5 of the puncheurs, so he has a wider race field. I'm also very lucky with Kirchen performing so well.

Not forgetting Goss, who has definately sprinted better than Steegmans

Steegmans was never meant to ride for Vespa anyway.
He should have been Napolitano at a fraction of the salary. Unfortunately, the other manager no showed and I took the decision to take him back at a highly inflated cost. I think he is one rider who lost points this season as a result of the boost in recovery stats. Something I didn't take into account. |

He finished 17th or 18th in the PT last year.
Without checking I presume he had a good recovery stat already so was already able to contest sprints in mulit-day stage races.
One of the good things about the ManGame this year is with the recovery stat boost, the sprinters have been contesting more sprints in the later stages. May have hurt an all rounder like Steegmans. Could be totally wrong though.... |

It could well have harmed him in boosting his average, so less race days - I guess there is a potential argument that other sprinters now make it to the end, but Steegmans is still the same amount of recovery better than them.
Steegmans main problem imo is that he is too all-round for his own good. High flat, stamina and recovery boost his average, thus reduce racedays, but at the end of the day, he is only 77 cobbles and 78 sprint.
And based on quality of competition, sprinters are more likely to do well with 78 sprint in ProTour, than Continental tour, which is perhaps not ideal, but thats the way it is

Yes - I was hoping Steegmans would ride a bit like a Ballan does in the PT. Late attacks and having the power to sometimes see them through. Because of his sprint stat though he hasn't tried to do this. Still, he got the goals I signed him for.
Crommy (I think) should have sold Marzano to me and not Sony at the end of the season. That would have made things a bit different. Anyway, I've not given up hope on Ginnani picking up some results - on a truely hilly course he should be difficult to beat. |

And yet Ponzi keeps managing to pip him at the line thanks to his wonderful sprinting skills |

Climbing, I really see the possibility for a top 15 now, and Kessiakoff is doing well in the standings
