I think everybody hates stages with much wind
Unfornately the second place with Pagliarini means nothing towards the goal of the green jersey, as TT and Mountain stages are also giving sprint points
January 21st: Tour de San Luis
Stage 4: San Luis - San Luis, 21.0 kms
Today's time trial is surely a stage for some changes in GC, as we have some great climbers with bad TT and the other way around. It should be an interesting battle specially between Kangert and Sinkewitz, although probably not for the victory, but for the seconds that could change the final classification.
David Bernabéu had great legs today, and set the early best time - 28’35”.
Race favorite Alejandro Marque(who is now 4’33” down on GC) did well, but not enough to beat Bernabéu - 28’40” (+5”).
Oleg Chuzhda was one of the favorites for today’s stage, and didn’t disappoint, new best time - 28’14”.
Ángel Vicioso still had chances in GC, but he didn’t show that today - 28’25” (+11”).
7th place Stanislav Kozúbek knew he could go some positions up today, and that gave him some extra power to set the new best time - 28’03”.
Even before Vítor left the start house he knew it would be difficult for him to secure his good position. He performed well considering his TT abilities - 28’46” (+43”).
Patrick Sinkewitz would like to gain some more seconds on Kangert today, and he rode thinking in that to set the new best time - 28’03”(s.t. as Kozúbek)
It was time for young Kangert to show what he really was made of. He started very strongly, setting the new best time on the first check, 17 seconds ahead of second place Kozúbek.
As he entered the last kilometer, he wasn’t looking so good as before. Had he started too strong?
Maybe a bit, but he had power enough to take the stage win!! Sinkewitz in second, +10”, the battle on Tour de San Luis looks like really for these two!

What a race!!! 2 stage wins in 3 days!! A incredible performance by Scott/Marcondes, and, of course, an excellent performance by Kangert! And more: not only there should be a battle for first overall between Kangert and Sinkewitz, but also a battle for the jersey(I forgot to take out sprint points being given in mountain and time trial stages, so Pagliarini has no chance anymore =P). Now we head to the queen stage of the race. If Kangert can survive tomorrow's mountain, than it would be very difficult for him to lose his jersey.
@janne_837
thanks! hope you're liking the story so far =)
January 22nd: Tour de San Luis
Stage 5: San Luis - Carolina, 154.0 kms
Now here it is, the queen stage of the race. Kangert showed he was in great form with an awesome performance in yesterday’s time trial, even taking the stage win. But could he repeat an as good performance today to defend his jersey? He should also try to get better positioned than Sinkewitz in order to complete our goal of the sprinters jersey. Today’s climb, La Carolina, is about 12 km long, and is steep, getting up to 11%, 12% in its toughest parts.
The BotD had 10 riders today. With 72 km to go, they got their maximum gap of 7’14”.
In the foot of the climb, the break still held 2’46” to the pack: it was very difficult for them to do it today.
As soon as the climb started, with the gradient still low (4%), Patrick Sinkewitz (2nd in GC) attacked, followed by Andres Pereyra (3rd in GC) and Javier Moreno (7th in GC). Kangert and Vítor were too in the middle of the pack to answer that early acceleration.
What they did was setting up a high pace, and, as soon as the climb reached the first very steep part (10%), the attackers were caught. This little break lasted 1.3 kilometers.
For the next 6 km, nothing happened. After that, with still 4.3 kilometers to the finish of the climb, the rest of the peloton split up, with a group of 10 riders in front chasing only 1 man, Jesse Anthony(the same from stage 2). 6 from the Top 10 riders in GC made it into the group. The missing ones were 4th place Stanislav Kozúbek, 6th place Jure Golcer, 8th place Ángel Vicioso and 10th place José Herrada.
Anthony; +1’12” E2; +35” E3.
More 1.5 km passed with nothing happening. Than, with almost 3 kilometers to the finish of the climb, Kangert accelerated. He was followed by Pereyra. No reaction coming from Sinkewitz.
They reached and dropped Anthony, and, as they finished the climb, this is the situation (14 km to go):
E1 - Kangert, Pereyra; +28” E2 - Anthony; 12” E3.
Kangert and Pereyra were working very hard to build a gap, and with 10 km to go, they were 48 seconds in front of the chase group.
E1 - Kangert, Pereyra; +48” E2; +1’03” E3.
1 km later, Sinkewitz saw the gap was only growing, so he decided it was time to go on his own. Nobody followed him, which made things more complicated for him.
E1 - Kangert, Pereyra; +28” Sinkewitz; +21” E3.
But the leaders start pulling harder and could keep Sinkewitz away. With 4 km to go, Bajadali(9th in GC) and Romero(15th in GC) attacked.
Bajadali reached and dropped Sinkewitz, while Romero just reached him. In the front, the leaders were preparing for the sprint. Kangert got Pereyra’s wheel.
E1 - Kangert, Pereyra; +20” Bajadali; +19” Sinkewitz, Romero; +19” E4 (6 riders)
The sprint begins! Who will be today’s winner?
Kangert tries making his move with 400 meters to go! Had he waited too long?
It’s a close one, but the victory goes to Kangert again!!! He didn’t even had the time to celebrate it in this one which should be his greatest streak in the season! 3 wins in 5 days!!
It was a close one!

Well, after this win in Carolina, I double checked the difficult level, and yes, it is hard, so I really have no ideia how I got 3 wins in 5 days. You know, my riders are not so good, there are better ones in the pack, but I simply got to win. There's indeed the advantage of the pre-season training camp, but that wouldn't be enough for such a high level performance.

Nhe hehe... after playing the stage, it appeared an e-mail: goal completed!
I was like "what the hell" when than I realized I had misunderstood my goal in the race: I didn't have to take the jersey home, just had to wear it for a single day
@all(2 ppl =P)
thanks
It's been almost two days since my last report, but that's because I'm planning the season right now; I didn't do it before starting Tour de San Luis because I didn't have the last sponsor goal.
January 23rd: Tour de San Luis
Stage 6: Quines - Merlo (Mirador del Sol), 141.0 kms
Today’s stages is mostly flat, with one climb in the beginning of the stage and another in the end. Both the climbs are not really though, especially the last one. After yesterday’s stage the Overall Lead should be almost secured by now, it’s really difficult for Kangert to lose his jersey.
After some failed attempts, 5 riders were able to break away from the peloton. They were split in 2 different groups though, with the first one having 2 riders and the second one, 3 riders. As we reached the beginning of the climb, with 14 km to go, the 2 riders lead was of 1’36”.
The break was caught with 5 km to go, and, as soon as that happened, Oliveira (11th in GC) launched an attack, followed by Moreno (6th), Kozúbek (7th) and Pérez Arrieta (13th).
They had a gap of 38 seconds to the peloton when, with 2.8 kilometers to go, Herrada (19th in GC) attacked, countered by Bajadali (5th) and Rubiano (8th). We had decided only to attack if Pereyra or Sinkewitz (2nd and 3rd) attacked, and that hadn’t happen yet.
But it took only 500 meters more before it happened. Pereyra (2nd in GC) attacked, with yellow jersey Kangert, 4th place Vítor and 3rd Sinkewitz on his slipstream.
At the same time, the 4 rider leading group entered the final kilometer to one uphill sprint for the victory!
Javier Moreno had the fresher legs and quickly passed the others!
In the end, he could celebrate a well-deserved victory even with a time gap. Kangert passed in 5th to secure his yellow jersey. Vítor, tough, lost his 4th place in GC to Moreno.

We were watching and waiting to counter a move from Sinkewitz or Pereyra, but we forgot to watch Vítor's rivals for 4th place, so when Moreno attacked Vítor didn't counter, and that might have been a mistake
The race was and still is awesome for us, as now we head for the last stage. Let's hope for not too much wind tomorrow and than see what Pagliarini can do.
@janne_837 and FreitasPCM
now you're saying 'you cant win everytime', soonly 'you cant podium everytime', than 'you cant top 10 everytime', moreover 'you cant finish the race everytime'
what I mean is this results are ridiculously good! just to let you know, before starting the carrer, I tried playing the Tour de San Luis with Scott/Marcondes(all riders with same fitness), and... well.. i got a 8th with Pagliarini and 2nd on KOM. so, this wave of good results are very 'wtf?'. You saw on last stage, Moreno has MO 74! How can he not follow and drop Kangert(MO 71)??
@baia
well, now there's only one stage left, its a sprint, and although its not that very flat, vítor's and kangert's gc positions should be guaranteed by now.
----
btw, how do you guys that play with small teams plan your season? because i usually played with bit pro tour teams, and so there were bigger races, which made planning easier for me(the biggest race for the team now has 8 stages). What I am doing is chosing the team for the important races, maybe filling with some random riders, and than go backwards to see which races they can enter to get an interesting form. Than do the schedules based on their races.
Hey i mean it a bit ironic Until now, your team makes an excellent job in Argentina. Maybe you are a bit better than in your first test because your rider have a better shape than the opponents (training-camp), but this fact should not reduce your fantastic performance here!
@janne_837
well, i hope you were being ironic, but anyway, i just wanted to make that really clear and thanks
January 24th: Tour de San Luis
Stage 7: San Luis, 170.0
Now we head for the last stage of our season start race. It was an awesome race for us: 3 stage wins, 2 riders in Top 5 GC and almost all rankings (all but team rankings) goes to a Scott/Marcondes rider. But the race is not over though, as the riders will arrive in San Luis for one final sprint. The last time the sprinters had a chance to win was in the first stage, so they might be on fire for today’s stage.
There is the start in San Luis surroundings.
14 riders went to the break today, but in two different groups, with the first one having 2 riders and the second, 12 riders. Between the breakaway riders was Pérez Arrieta, who was considered a favorite for the race before it had started. He was 12th in GC, 5’34” down on yellow jersey Kangert.
In the pack, Amore & Vita - Conad and Scott/Marcondes did most of the work today.
The maximum gap of the BotD was 6’39” with 77 km to go. They were caught quite early, with 23 km left.
With 4 kilometers to go, the sprint trains are formed. On the left is Caldeira with his lead-out. Than is the Jamis - Sutter Home train, with Borrajo leading Domínguez. In his wheel is Obst and Vicioso. To the right is Bonsergent with his lead-out, and stage 1 winner Nico Eeckhout on his wheel. Pagliarini has a very bad position.
The sprint begins! Caldeira is leading, but he spent almost no time on his team mate slipstream, so he probably won’t be able to hold the lead. René Obst also with an early move from Iván Domínguez’s wheel, taking Ángel Vicioso with him.
We now enter the final kilometer! Domínguez in front, while Ángel Vicioso and Stefan Van Dijk make their moves! Rob Britton with a strong sprint holding 4th here.
And we see the replay of stage 1: this time its Van Dijk trying to pass Domínguez!
But the Tour de San Luis finishes with Iván Domínguez grabbing the stage win! Van Dijk is one wheel behind him, and gets second. Pagliarini crosses 8th.

Me quotes myself:
lluuiiggii wrote(#4):
Tanel Kangert is other free agent we signed. He is a young cyclist, but doesn’t have a good potential. With decent MO, TT and HIL stats he will be our leader in stage races, but I find it difficult for him to get a stage race victory this year. I expect podiums coming from him, tough.
Me FAILS. Incredible performances by the team here, 3 wins in 7 days, and we got the 4 jerseys lolol =P We've completed our first objective of the year and performed in a brilliant way in this key race for the season.
Ok, so, the story is going on a bit slow pace but its because of this problem(problem?): now I've got PCM 2010, and I had thought in starting a new carrer and new story in PCM 2010. In the custom DB there is the Scott/Marcondes team, but I downloaded PCM.daily's Expansion Pack V2, and there is no Scott/Marcondes team and no other brazilian team
So, basically there are 3 options:
1. Continue this story in PCM 09;
2. Create Scott/Marcondes in PCM 10 and start a story there;
3. Choose another team(that won't be a brazilian team, which changes nothing for you readers but changes for me =P) and start a carrer in PCM 10.
And really, I have no idea what I could do. Creating Scott/Marcondes in PCM 10 could be an option, but its different, its like a custom team, as it isn't on the DB. Also, in PCM 10 there is no Tour de San Luis and I believe there's almost no other race from South America. With the stage editor, though, there would be a way to create brazilian races. The only problems of this then would be that there is no .dem files for Brazil, so it would be tougher for me to create it, and second is once again, it isn't in the DB, so its like a custom race, so its kinda of strange for people reading about a race they cant play even if they have the same DB.
I think I've already mentioned that I write a little bit more than I should right? So, overall, just say which of the 3 options I should choose, because I'm completely lost related to this.
Thx for attention =)
The PPDB has this team and in general has more races than PCM daily. It doesn't have the scouting zones though, but again this is for PCM 10 and you might like that.
Edit: But again this team is dead in 2011 so maybe you could just make your own Brazilian fantasy team with the 2011 db. KenL made a pack for a Brazilian team to replace your so maybe?
Edited by valverde321 on 11-12-2010 22:44
Sorry, I think I am not able to help^^ I really like this story here... But it would be great, too, to see a story with the PCM 2010. Its your decision.
So, I think I'm going to start a carrer with Carnival Rio, the team with KenL equipment.
I saw there are 2 options for putting the equipment/team in the game: one would be replacing other team, and then I would edit the team's name, etc, and the other would be adding the team.
So, I would prefer adding the team. Once again I have two options: I can I do it in the simple DB that comes w/ the game or in Full Editor V4. Is there any difference between adding the team in the simple DB and adding the team in the Full Editor? Because really, I understand nothing about that full editor.
I've gone to the FAQ, and there is the question 'how to add/delete teams', but I've no ideia how to follow those steps. So it would be great for me if could just add the team in the simple DB that comes with the game.
