Good start for Posthuma there. And 4 riders in top 30 is also good concerning the TTT.

Smowz, who was the Vesuvio rider in the S2 break?

Vespa up there again. Who's that other Italian wild card team again?
I'm guessing Ascani fell or punctured at some point in that stage?
How do the moutain points work when it's a tie? Do Helion and Steensen share the spoils from 1st and 2nd? |

So you mean Rowe, in 6th?
Or perhaps Cataldo, who's saving it for when it matters - the mountains

Rowe is not Italian and 6th is twice as bad as 3rd.
Cataldo will likely do very well when we hit the mountains - I'm just glad Vepsa have started the Giro with a couple of decent results. Outperforming Wiggle also pleases me more than it should.
- Edited to fix my numbers.

An outright KoM leader gets 9 points after each stage. So in this case, Healion gets 4, and Steensen gets 4

Rowe is part of the other Wildcard team, who don't happen to be Italian, but rather Anglo-Italiano. Pah, get it right
And plus, I never put faith, or trust in sprinters, it's just he had such a small amount of race days in the Conti tour, that I felt I had to race him here. Otherwise it'd be Ponzi likely sprinting, and he'd fair far better I'm sure

Poor start. Losing 30 and 38 seconds with Castaño and Ardila and a poor first sprint. I expect top 3s or 5s. 8th isn't good. I had 3 guys up there though, so hopefully the train was just bad on this stage.

It was Barth - really do not know why I thought it was Ballini of Vespa. Needless to so Barth did very little of not in the break away apart from hold on for most of the stage.
Sorry bout that I usually look at the pictures to double check, but for some reason didn't there. |

Grillo is consistent but seem to be lacking that little extra. Maybe would have needed a better lead out man.

So, wait Fenian, who was just beaten into the 3rd spot by a Brit? Even with national bonus, and a clear sprint to the line, Rowe will beat Gatto time and time again (ignoring stage 2 of course)

No crashes in the first couple of stages? I'm shocked. |

CT: It was close to being a split on stage three but it became a long line with out any gaps. The cornering was not that tight on the stage and there was no rain so I guess it was not the right conditions for crashes.

Incredible!!
My first ever TTT win on the PT and my first maglia rosa. I'm not sure about this but isn't Michael Færk the first Dane to wear the leaders jersey in a PT Grand Tour in man-game history?

Glad to see so many references to my team
It's specially funny when, the one time one of my riders gets in the breakaway and his team is mentioned he's called an Auber rider
Rujano is not that far behind, a top 10 is manageable and a top 5 is still not that far out of reach.

You have no idea how horrified I was when I thought Rowe was about to win a stage by nipping around Gatto.
Good TTT performance from Vespa - would have been better if they hadn't left the team leader behind though.
Still, I'm pleased with the way the Giro is going for Vespa - got to be considered the high point of the season for the team and we've been in evidence these opening few days. |
