I'd be far more annoyed wit that stage if it wasn't what I've come to expect.
The idiots comment gave me a chuckle. |

Good riding by Froome. Although he deserved more than 3rd, it was worth riding to secure a Top 3 with a decent gap, than sacrifice that to go for the win.

So so close to an amazing ride from Arashiro, good for him.
Could be a really nice win for Petronas, the kind of win their star starved but good all rounders would be good for. Nice for Telenor also theu have not had a lot of luck so far this season.
Still I think their will be more of a shuffle on the last stage - hope the japanese rocket has something left! |

Kessiakoff Way more than I expected, Hilly stages seem awefully random. But anyway, great by Fredrik, and Tomas at 5th in GC

I think some manager won't be to happy with this race GC-wise. Deadpool on top i guess?
The hills aren't rly hard enough to make a difference here.
Btw, good reports, enjoyed reading them and laughing at Waghlon.

I, for one, am disgusted by Wiggle's performance. I mean, Luke Rowe did the best for me, and he's got 64 hill. That speaks volumes eh?

When you made the topic, i couldn't remeber why i didn't choose this race, as it seemed a good one for Kirchen. Prediciting on PCM, it was more or less obvious something like this would happen.
Looking at the final results, Goss might have done good here .

Not quite sure how Stage 5 is meant to be harder than Stage 4 rjc. Doesnt look it to me
None of the stages are particularly hard though - so there was always more chance of the race days being wasted than useful. Particularly after the race last year - 1st, 2nd and 5th in GC were all there thanks to a winning breakaway on Stage 2, 3rd in GC was a sprinter, and 4th in GC was the best puncheur.
But for me, 3rd in GC for Froome equals a good return on the race days,

Ventoso beautifully sprinted to no bonus seconds at all, and didn't get in any break. He has seriously done nothing this year.

Think you've got to put your hand up and say the time gap settings were not as they should be there. Those screen shots surely don't look like a group of 120 odd finishing a hilly stage 3 minutes ahead of the next group. |

Well, the finish is basically a flat run in. Theres not really anything in the profile that merits a sprint from only 1.5km/1km to go - rather than the classic 3km. And with that, comes the 20 second gap requirement

That's fair enough. The stage played out fairly well apart from the time gaps. Suppose if the settings had been different there'd have been 'side-effects'. |

Damn, I've been rumbled. I didn't look at the stage profiles when I posted the report I just guessed stage 5 was the harder of the two. It was a 50/50 choice I'll have you know!

Wow, Arashiro in the break again. Not the horrible race it could have been for Red Bull after Augustyns opening stage crashes - a medocre performance was better than expected.
What a coup for Petronas to sneak another big win with Gerrans. The kind of race they needed! Another fine HC performance by the UBS team with Richeze once again proving one of the best sprinters around and some use made of Schumacher.
These hilly stage races are a real pick'um - I guess you have just got to go for a number of possibilities and keep your fingers crossed.
Interestingly Wiggle and Ikea not having such hot races here (though no doubt they will both pick up points later in the month!) |
