There was a wrong one before but now the file is definitely working. I just started a new career and jumped to 2011 and my variant was working there.
But up to now it looks like you have to start a new career what is a little bit dumb ;(
I asked Svam in the Cyanide forum and he answered that he will have a look on it. I will tell you what`s the result.
So best way is probably to wait for the next patch. Adding my Tdf and Maethius Giro variant, wait for a compatible DB and start a new career then

I tested a lot and changed a few things inside the DB, so I was able to get my variant in my savegame without restarting a career. but therefore I have a problem with all races now
I am on the race day but instead of taking part it`s just going on to the next day. There is no simulation and no last results.
Is it possible that this is because I jumped over the whole season with the editor and in 2010 there were no results at all, so it`s not possible to take part on races in 2011 because now too many things are wrong in the DB?

I think I have it know. After jumping into 2011 my TdF Variant is in the savegame.
The non simulating of races is because of the date jump. I don`t know how to handle this, but normally you don`t jump
So I added the variant in my savegame, didn`t jump and I was able to race again.
It`s not enough to add the description, stages and rules for your savegame. After beginning the savegame the table DYN_variant_stages will be filled with all variants in all descriptions. If you add new descriptions you have to fill this table manually.
There are some lines like stage_type, gene_f_mountain etc. but you don`t have to change them, just type a "0" in it like in all other variants. Just compare what to add with other variants, most things you add just a "0". |

you mean that it will be possible to subsequently add variants to a previously started career by importing an updated DYN_variant_stages table into the savegame? |

Yes. That`s even the easiest way. After copying all stages, rules and descr. you start a new game. Then in this new save game the new variants are already in DYN_variant_stage.
So you just import the whole table of the new save game into the same table of your old table and overwrite everything there.
Then you don`t have to type the new variant manually by hand. |

But the save game must be started after patch 1.0.3.0. Before this the whole option wasn`t there. |

serious, the game doesn't read the variant folder again, as soon as it turns to a new season and creates the new season database?

No, it reads it in the 1st season, not the following seasons. |
