The contenders revealed themselves in that TT.
Kirchen has a nice lead but will no doubt be looking to add to that with some sort of time bonus on stage 3.
Its going to be tough for Siutsou, who climbed poorly in Langkawi, hope that he is more to the fore here and fighting for some sort of time gap on these next two stages. Benfica will be all over stage 4 like a rash I suspect. |

Awesome ride by Kirchen, and yea, stage 3 might be good for him aswell. But i do fear one thing. I guess the break will make it tomorrow as Bacardi doesn't rly have the strength to catch a break.

An excellent effort from Siutsou today, he actually was one of the first attackers on the Genting Highlands climb. That proved his downfall there, here though I think this was useful for him, his strength over a lot of the other climbing talent is his stamina and flat speed.
Kirchen is just too good, I felt the double transfer of Goss and Kirchen was one of the the moves of the transfer season and I think that is bearing fruit for Bacardi here. Though Santader's Abal, who had a good ride on this stage is going to be tough to control on the last stage.
Stage 4 will be a real battle between those two, also will be interesting to see how the mountain goats at Benfica attack this one. Rui Costa their best GC man is only 1.39 back but is one of their weakest mountain climbers. Krasnoperov at 2.19 back from Kirchen is probably too far back for the overall win but is strong enough to move up. Though more likely their best move would be to go for a long break.
Untal, cannot helpo noticing you always do you reports late at night, apprieciate the early morning before work reads though |

Another great ride by Kirchen! 34 seconds. Like Smowz said, stage 4 is going to be hell of a race. And thank god for the support of the other teams to reel in the break .
There will probably fall some time gaps, and Abal is the best climber. How ever, seeing the last part fattens a bit, he will have to do it on the climb before the sprint. And if it happens in the sprint, then bonifications might become important.

Abal, if you solo in you win, that's all you need to do

Whilst Kirchen is cleaning up, I am really happy with Siutsou battling his way up the classification. Just crept up onto the GC podium with a really well judged ride. Finishing second and the pts, mountains classifications positions are an excellent bonus. To top that off American veteren all rounder Roman Kilun gives a nice solid performance with a kick at the end to maintain a top 10 place. I have gotta be happy with that.
What an earth were the Benfica climbers playing at riding for Rui Costa's 7th place overall?
Kami: I reckon Kirchen could have a pretty good season, no reason why he cannot go well at two HC stage races (Missouri and Burgos). I think we will be both hoping for no crashes on the flat last stage!!!

After a poor Tour Med for Kirchen, i had my doubts, but the split on stage one might have contributed to that. He isn't riding Burgos though, Ricco will be riding there. But yea, Kirchen is a very good all-rounder who can get me some nice points on his old day .
Meanwhile, at mb's home:

Nice pic Not sure Santander will be too devestated, though they might feel that they missed out on a bonanza of points that Kirchen picked up!
As I have 15 stage wins for the season as a goal, I am really pleased that Sutton managed to suck Guereo's wheel to take the last stage. It rounds off an excellent last three stages for us with a GC podium and a stage win with a limited team such as ours I am pleased.
Great race for Bacardi obviously, but certainly not too bad for Santander, Red Bull and even Benfica (I suspect that they still did okay despite some bizarre tactics by their riders).
Not so good for promotion contenders UBS and Ikea, Perez Sanchez is proving a bit of a flop at the moment and Ikea seem to be getting some ill timed technical troubles.

A good race for you to Snowz, after a not so good start in the race.
Well, overall + points + mountain + 3 stages certainly makes me rly happy, and is more then i dreamed of before the start.
