I'll be doing some tests tonight. It should work, though. |

The descr and rules files should be put in CM_Stages/variant and the stages in CM_Stages. |

I'm quite a noob when it comes to stage, stage making and adding stages in general so it would be nice if you could help me out a little. You say you need 2 .xml files
1. is the Rules
2. is the description
But how exactly do I create these .xml files so that the game can read it and choose the stages as variants? |

Just copy an existing one and open it with rightclick -> notepad.
If you don`t have one, create an notepad file and save it with "all formats" and ".xml" behind the filename. |

Thanks both, I'm gonna try tonight. Youve made my terrible night slightly better, and happier. Thanks CrueTrue for the very handy manual. I think I can make variants. But I'm still not 100% sure what these lines mean exactly:
Oh yeah its the Giro 2012 variant from the Daily Projects section
<!-- Parcours prédeterminé certaines années -->
<defined year="2011" variantMin="2" variantMax="2"/>
<defined year="2012" variantMin="3" variantMax="3"/>
<defined year="2013" variantMin="1" variantMax="1"/>
<defined year="2014" variantMin="2" variantMax="2"/>
<defined year="2015" variantMin="3" variantMax="3"/>
<defined year="2016" variantMin="1" variantMax="1"/>
What does the 1,2 and 3 mean? Does it mean it will switch between 3 different routes?
If the description file has a weight value of fe 3 it would be used on the years that a 3 appears in the rules (above)?
I'll explain in the racename.descr.xml near the top there is a line called Weight Value or something like that. Right next to it is a number in this case 1 as I'm using the Giro 2012 thingy from the Extra Variants Topic in the Projects section. If the racename.descr.xml has a weight value of one does that mean that that current variant is used on the years that this line has a 1 like so: <defined year="2013" variantMin="1" variantMax="1"/> ?
Or am I overthinking it? :)

Valverde: The numbers define which variant that's used. Setting it to 1 as min and max means that variant 1 will be used. Setting 1 to min and 3 to max means that the game may use any of the three variants. If one has more weight than another, the one with more weight is more likely to be the route.
However, if you set it to 1 in min and max, the weight value won't matter. |
