February Preview
Hi there, as i'm writing this I, along with the rest of our team, am onboard a Qatar Airways flight from Melbourne to Doha, Qatar. Most of the team will head straight back to Europe from there, but I along with some others, will stay back in the Middle East to race in the Tour of Qatar and Tour of Oman.
I won't race in Qatar, but I will in Oman. I'm hoping to finish really high up in the GC there, as the course really suite me. 5 flat stages followed by a time trial gives me a good chance to move up the leaderboard.
After that i'll head back to our European team base. I'll then race in the Clasica de Almeria in Spain on the last day of the month.

Tour of Oman
*I won't spend as much time on this report as a did on the TDU, i'll just write full reports for Pro Tour races and races in Australia that are importtant to Jack.
After a great start to the season, i'll be looking to continue in Oman. The deciding stage will be the last one, a medium length time trial, which really suits me.
Our team:
Jack Bobridge
Julian Dean
Tyler Farrar
Fredrik Kessiakoff
Cameron Meyer
Danny Pate
Ricardo Van der Velde
Johan Van Summeren
Expecting many of the world's best sprinters to be present, we brough both Tyler Farrar, fresh from his 4 stage wins andoverall victory in Qatar, and Julian Dean to the race. However when we arrived we soon found out that no big name sprinters had arrived. Tyler didn't have the type of opposition he was hoping for, obviously they'd all decided to begin their season in Europe. However we still had to race hard as Skil - Shimano had brough a pretty strong sprinting line-up to the race, with Van Hummel and Veelers.
Stage 1
A short opening stage was a short one about 60 km in length and very flat.
Attacks were going thick and fast early in the stage, but they were all reeled in before any significant gap formed. Danny Pate then attacked and managed to create a decent gap on the main field. He built up a 3 minute lead.
No team was really prepared to do the hard work and set a fast pace to reel him back. The other teams probably were expecting us, easiy the strongest team in the race, to do the work. But no way were we going to help with a rider out in front.
With less than 10 km to the line the gap was still over 1 minute and it looked likely that Danny would take the victory.
He looked out of energy, but somehow he managed to keep on going. He just managed to beat the peleton to the line to take the opening stage of the Tour of Oman.
Veelers outsprinted the peleton to take second, while Tyler grabbed third. The peleton were awarded the same time as Danny.
Stage 2
After a short opening stage yeasterday, we head out onto the open road today, we'll look to defend out leaders jersey and hopefully set Tyler up for a sprint victory.
Ricardo Van der Velde and Fredrik Kessiakoff controlled the front end of the peleton today. They did a great job and made sure the break was always kept within 3 minutes of the bunch.
We were just to good today, JVS set up Julian and Tyler for the sprint. Tyler took the victory and along with it, the overall lead. Julian was just edged out by Van Hummel for 2nd, but still managed to grab 3rd.
Stage 3
The terrain gets a bit more hilly today, but still stays pretty flat.
Once again we kept the break under control and brought it all back together again for a mass sprint finish.
Tyler Farrar took his second victory in a row, and our third in as many stages at this race. He proved that he's by far, the best sprinter in the field and one to watch out for later this season at some of the bigger races. Van Hummel and Dean took 2nd and 3rd respectively for the second day in a row.
Stage 4
After just sitting in the peleton for the first three days, I decided to try something today. I managed to get into the break and picked up a few KoM points and Intermidiate sprint points during the stage.
But it was clear that we were never going to stay away today, we were reeled in well before the finish.
The wind was roaring today and towards the end of the stage it caused havoc. We set up Julian and Tyler well for the sprint, but with less than 8 km to go all of a sudden gaps started occuring at the front end of the peleton. We were caught out as a group of 6 sprinters themselves ahead of the field. We were caught out, Tyler had to leave Julian and try and chase them down himself.
The sprint started and Tyler had no chance of victory, but he didn't give up and managed to pass two of the riders on the line to take 5th place. Frederic Amorison of Landbouwkrediet took the win. Luckily for us the peleton was awarded the same time and Tyley kept the race lead.
Stage 5
Another very windy day today. The break struggled due to being exposed to the strong wind all day and never looked like staying away.
As the pace lifted in the final kilometers the wind made a big impact, streching the peleton right out and making it very hard to move up to the front.
But unlike yesterday, we were ready for this. Julian and Tyler were right up the front, I was as well. Most of the other competitive sprinters were caught too far back to contest for the victory.
The three of us set up an unbeatable train and Tyler powered to victory. I rode really well to take second and Julian took third.
Tyler extended his lead at the top of the GC and I moved into the lead of the Young Riders classification ahead of the final stage toomorrow, the time trial.

Tour of Oman
Stage 6 ITT 20.2 km
The final and deciding stage of this years Tour of Oman will be a medium length 20.2 km ITT. The terrain isn't completely flat, there is a small gradual climb in the middle followed by a gradual downhill to the finish.
I hope to put up a good time today and defend my Young Riders jersey. Tyler Farrar will hope to hold onto his leaders jersy today, but he'll face stiff competion from some fellow teammates such as Danny Pate, my fellow Aussie Cam Meyer and who knows maybe even me.
Fredrik Kessiakoff hoped to put up a god time today, but he struggled a little and could only manage 20th 33 seconds back.
Cam Meyer was one of the first GC contenders to start. He was one of the favourites for the win today.
He crossed the finish line with the fastest time so far, but could was it fast enough for the victory?
I set off shortly after Cam.
Being one of the last to start I knew the sort of time I needed to clock to put my name high up the leaderboard.
I was really close to Cam at the Intermediate time check. As I approached the line I knew I was still only a couple of seconds off Cam's time. I gave it everything, but it wasn't good enough to win today. It was still a great ride though, giving me 5th place at the end of the day just 4 seconds off Cam's time.
Tom Veelers set off just after me, he was very close to Cam's time at the check point but in the end couldn't quite match his time, crossing the line 2 seconds in arrears.
Tyler, Danny and Julian dean set off all within a few minutes of each other.
Julian knew time trials aren't his strength and was never a chance for the GC.
Danny was good, riding the 4th best time of the day.
At that point it was clear that only a disaster could take the the leaders jersey off Tyler, but he wasn't going to let that happen. He sprinted across the line, clocking the 3rd fastest time and knowing overall victory was now his.
Tyler Farrar wins the 2010 Tour of Oman.
Cameron Meyer claims his first victory of the season, i'm rapt for him. I narrowly missed out on a podium place to Tom Veelers, but I won the Young Riders Jersey, so i'm happy. A fantastic race for the team, although to be fair the competition wasn't overly strong, still a win is a win.

Thanks, hopefully it should get a bit harder now once I start racing in Europe, it's been a bit easy so far.
I'm playing on normal as I haven't been playing PCM 09 that long (played 08 for a while), but I think i'll move to hard now. |

March Preview
Hi, well after starting the season back at home and then venturing to the Middle East, i'm finally ready to start racing in Europe. I'm really looking forward to the fierce competition we'll be facing here. I can't wait to get up close to some of the greatest cyclists in the world that I've grown up watching on TV.
I didn't end up racing the Clasica de Almeria, instead taking more time to train and become acustomed to the European climate, which is much different at the moment to where i've been racing lately.
This month i'll be racing the famous Tirreno - Adriatico race and maybe the Criterium International.
I look forward to writing to you from Italy.
10/3 - 16-3 | Tirreno - Adriatico | 27/3 - 29/3 | Criterium International |

Just a quick question, i'm having trouble removing the circles under the riders. I know that the ' button should work, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me. Anyone know anything else I could try? Thanks
Next stage should be up in a day or two. |

For us norwegians it's the "Æ" button. Just try the buttons close to the '

Yeah, i've tried that but with no success. I'll keep pressing a few different buttons during the game and see if anything works. THanks.
It guess it doesn't matter too much having circles under the riders, it just looks a bit nicer that's all. |

Tirreno - Adriatico
Well i've arrived in Italy for my first Pro race in Europe. We've brung a fairly strong team:
Jack Bobridge
Julian Dean
Tyler Farrar
Ryder Hesjedal
Michel Kreder
Martijn Maaskant
Christian Meier
David Millar
Just like in the TDU, Ryder Hesjedal will be our GC leader here. We're very hopefull of a top 5 finish. Tyler Farrar and Julian Dean are here as well. They'll be hoping to use this race to improve their fitness for the first monument of the season, Milan - Sanremo, which starts a few days after the finish of this race. I'm, really looking forward to the ITT, it's a great chance for me to test my legs against the best TT'ers in the world.

Tirreno - Adriatico
Stage 1 Cecina - Capannori
The first stage should come down to a mass sprint finish. However a short climb just before the finish has the potential to eliminate many sprinters from the final dash to the line. The winner should be one of the stronger in-form sprinters. Or who knows, perhaps even puncheur with a fast finish could snatch the win.
Michel Kreder was sent in the break today, but it never stood a chance with many teams eager to chase them down.
The final climb turned out to be quite tough, many top sprinters started dropping to the back of the peleton as they couldn't hold on. That was the end of them for the day.
Tyler struggled to the top of the climb and recuperated a little on the decent, but he'd dropped to the middle of the peleton and when the sprint started, he was still only sitting mid-field.
David Millar on the otherhand, had managed to stay up the front and attacked just before the sprint started just as the pace dropped.
Tyler had no other option but to start his sprint as soon as he passed under the 3 km to go banner and hope to then hold on.
For some reason the pace of the peleton had dropped just before the sprint, luckily for us this allowed Tyler to fight his way to the front, but with his energy running out fast, could he hold onto a top 5 position?
Meanwhile Andrea Tonti happened to be at the front of the peleton when the sprint started, much like David. He was currently well in front and heading for victory.
Tonti's speed dropped in the final km, but it looked like he would just make it as he raised his arms in celebration of a very unexpected victory.
But as he put his arms in the air, to his horror he saw Tom Boonen edge past him to snatch the victory. What a dramatic finish, as you can imagine Tonti was distraught after the race, having come so close to taking the biggest win of his career.
While all this was going on, David and Tyler held on to cross the line 3rd and 4th respectively. Not a bad start, but probably not the start we were hoping for.

Tirreno - Adriatico
Stage 2
Volterra - Marina di Carrara
After just falling short ofvictory yesterday, we hope to deliver Tyler to the line first today. The profile of today's stage is much like that of yesterday, reasonably flat but with a climb just before the finish.
We missed out on the break today, so midway through the stage we sent Christian Meier out to try and join them, unfortunately he couldn't bridge the gap as he ran out of energy. He hit the wall and was quickly swallowed up by the peleton, but he couldn't keep up and went straight out the back. It would be a long day for him as he tried to finish inside the time limit and avoid disqualification.
The break was reeled in on the final climb.
I was feeling pretty good and attacked on the false flat halfway up the climb!
I went over the top of the climb with a nice gap back to the peleton
The gap grew to as much as 40 seconds and I started to believe that I could do this, pull off a huge suprise!
But it wasn't to be, the sprinters teams reeled me in 5km from the line. So close, yet so far!
Whilst I was out in front, David Millar managed to set up a great train, putting Tyler in a fantastic position when the sprint started.
The sprint opened...
Julian led Tyler out very well.
Tyler (right) came out of Julian's wheel at the same time Ginanni (left) came out of his wheel.
These two would contest for the victory. On paper Tyler should win this battle, but the final climb probably took more out of him than it would have done to Ginanni.
But Ginanni was just too quick for our man Tyler, just edging him out on the line. Julian crossed the line in 6th place.
A dissapionting result in the end for the team to lose to a guy that we believe we should beat. But a fantastic day for me, I made an great impression on many people with my attacking spirit that I showed. |
