I can see a lot of people not betting on Cav on these first stages until they get it will be more of the samewe had in these past couple of years... or maybe not.
I would take a kamikaze bet on Manuel Cardoso but since he had that tremendous start on the prologue I'm not sure how well will he be in this first week.
Let the fight for the green begin!

The inevitable crosswinds could cause chaos today. This could become a nightmare stage for one of the overall contenders. Denis Menchov anyone?
I'm setting off to France now and will arrive in Cambrai later this evening to await the arrival of the Stage 4 finish there. A few stages in North West France and then to the Pyrenees. Can't wait! What a holiday
EDIT: rather stage 4 begins in Cambrai. Stupid me
There is no stages in North West France this year. |

And the race is underway. Boom makes the first attack of the race, closely followed by Wynants and Alan Perez

well, whilst I was hoping to see a few attacks and more of a struggle to make the break of the day, that was a first try sucess.
@whoda Not easy, just the peloton isn't riding fast, why ride fast for over 200km?

It seems that a lot of teams have put the riders names on their shirt. I guess it was Sky, who started it, but yesterday I saw both Cervélo and Rabobank did as well..
I think it's great.. |

Brailsford texted the Sky live updates with this:
"Winds are increasing, headwinds over first key bridges turning to crosswinds later on. Need to be vigilant."

Agree. It's an excellent idea, now when you can barely see the riders behind all the gear |

They're on the first dyke. Apparently this spot in the Giro it went crazy. It's controlled though now, with a headwind.

A dog ran into the peleton, David Millar and several other riders into the ground. |

Dog owner should get a major slap in the face. Putting both the riders and the dog itself in danger. |

Bad news already :/ ... I don't get the reason why people want their dogs to come and watch the cycling. I know its a 1 in a thousand chance, but for the tour at least, just don't take the risk.
Anyway, i am on McEwen for today. Well, i will be on every flat stage so its not saying much!! |

Notice that the dog didn't have a leish. If they are going to bring their dog to the Tour they can at least have a leish on it.

Seems like Adam Hansen has a broken collarbone. He's trying to make it through the stage, but he can just barely hold on to the peloton. |
