Funny. I have an ATI and it runs fine......other than the constant memory-related crashing

you would think that with these, it should run fine
in fact, every game DOES run fine.
PCM only runs fine when I lower details...and I don't want to do so.
In fact, when I chose the cyanide settings ('confirm' in graphics menu) then it automatically choses all the highest settings

@Ruben, i'd try older drivers instead of the latest, also for x2 (2 gpus) cards or crossfire setups 10.6 won't work in any case cause of a bug in the driver. |

Any idea how old I should go?
I had 10.2 installed previously (I updated because of problems) |

I can run game on highest graphics smooth, but after an hour, when my laptop gets hot the game crashes once in 5 races...
Exit and reenter game every 2-3 stages (when racing stages like Milano- San remo which are pretty long exit after every stage). It seems they still didn`t fixed mem problems.
I`m doing this since 2008 and not a single in-stage crash (only some critical errors which are simple ingame bugs)... |

tbh, i have no clue. But since others with the same card don't seem to have any problems my first guess would be a driver issue. Would be helpful if people with no problems and a 5770 would report the catalyst version they're using. I'd say try something between 10.6 and 10.2, if that doesnt work try a pre v10 driver, if that doesnt solve the issue i'm afraid u'll have to wait for Focus/Cyanide to help u out. |

I have a 5770 and old drivers, don`t know which one and it was always between 25-55 fps on highest details.
Then I installed 10.6, the newest driver and everything is the same.
Back of the peloton in a city are about 25-30 and minimum. So everything looks smooth.
Of course 80fps would be better like some other with "worse" graphic cards, but i am pleased. |

Ok, here's an attempt on a setup so we all can compare.
1. Download and install FRAPS.
2. Go to the tab FPS and on benchmark settings tick MinMaxAvg.
Remember the benchmarking hotkey (usually F11).
3. Go into PCM and set all levels to the highest possible, but turn off motion blur, depth of field and run the game with "No filter" under Image filtering. Turn off anti-aliasing. Test on 1680x1050 if you can, but of you don't have that high resolution, just the run the game in fullscreen in the resolution your monitor supports.
4. Run Paris-Roubaix under Classic. When you are ingame, wait until the camera is "above" the riders like in this picture: https://bildr.no/v...
5. Adjust the speed to x2 and push F11. Now wait until there is 235 km until the finish, and then push F11 again. A number in green should display on the screen, and that's the average FPS.
You can find min, max and avg fps in x:\Program files\Fraps\Benchmark.
My results:
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 with driver 10.5 I think.
CPU: AMD Athlon x4 630 @3.3 GHz
Ram: 4 gb
FPS Min: 15
FPS Max: 36
FPS AVG: 25.6
Tested without shadows as well, and that did the trick for me:
FPS Min: 31
FPS Max: 51
FPS AVG: 37.9
Since I'm not an expert in this, feedback would on the setup would be nice.

But there is a big difference between the end of the peloton and the front. Up to 10fps more in the front.
First try with shadwos was also quite far behind.
Directly after the town always 28-36 and without shadows 40-51.

Yes, forgot to mention that, try to keep the camera right above the peloton so you get riders from top to bottom. Hmm, seems like CPU-speed is very important. Will test on standard speed (2,8 GHz) and 2.6 GHz later. |

worse? you kidding me 4870 is a bit faster than 5770 ...
btw ruben maybe its core issue, maybe pcm cant handle 4 cores, try to off two of them and than try to run pcm on two cores only.

I didn´t mean especially your graphic card. But there are also cards like 9800GT with much better fps than 5770.
I agree that they are all "quite similar".
