The method I use is: first building the race on a GPS routing program online (there are plenty of them: BikeRouteToaster.com, Tracks4Bikers.com, Openrunner.com. I use T4B), then downloading a GPX file from those webpages and taking it into the editor and putting the race's coordinates into the map, in the same area that you'd upload your BMP file to draw it.
This way, you already have:
1) the orographical data;
2) the "waypoints" you can take as a reference to build your road network, and then the checkpoints.

I wanted to create a better Tour Down Under, but no .dem like in the folder for it.
All the DEM maps have really bad quality so the topography was not really good.
Anyone knows the meaning of "Not enough distance between two ways on a section (<20km)" ?
It appears as an error, if you create a circuit in the end.

Really stupid beginner question but after making a stage (tdu stage 6):
where do you put the exported files (.cds & zces)?
and how do you implement them in game?

The exported files -> Program Files/Cyanide/PCM/CM_Stages
The easiest way to implement them to the game is by replacing an existing stage.
The more advanced way is to edit the database with the Full Editor V4 (aka. Advanced Editor). In STA_race, find the ID of Tour Down Under (which is 294). Then open STA_stage, find the stages (2287-2292 - you want to edit the latter since that's stage 6 of TDU) associated with the ID you found before, scroll across to gene_sz_stage_file and enter the name that you've given the stage file.

few quick questions:
does gene_f_distance have to be exact?
is feat_f_wind the max wind or average? |

gene_f_distance is the one showed in the in-game description of the stage - so no, it doesn't have to be 100 % exact.
I'm not sure about the wind, to be honest. My guess is that it's the average. |

You created a sprint point in your stage. But not for every round. How can you change this? In my stage the sprint point is in every single round. |

When you choose to create a sprint, the menu on the right hand side of the editor is offering you the chance to edit the type of sprint, the name you want to give it as a location - plus, the tickers so you can select which laps count on that "hot point" as a sprint/mountain pass. |

yes, use the shift button to make the arrow selection thing turn to circles, the blue line is rotation.

Okay. Ive finally been able to make bits of mountain road but i keep getting "intersection only has two roads" errors because i make the road in sections rather that one long road. Are there any ways to make the roads i make just a road and not a series of intersections?

Try to click 2 times left on the waypoint before creating the next waypoint with the right click,
You will see, that the small line inside the road will change with every left click.
Can anybody upload his .zcts. I created a few stages but they look quite boring. I`d like to compare the setting of field and forest, but unfortunately you cannot open all the Cyanide stages any longer.

Here's a stage I've made. It's a flat one.
