I seen Fabian change gears in da video, oooohh he must have a rocket engine in there
I'm sure there is no doubt stuff like this can happen, and its probably been used in races before (most likely ones that arn't televised, or maybe someone has used them to save energy in a stage race when they can sit un detected in the peloton all day)
But the Cancellara PR accusations just seem made up, its more for people like myself who believe the moon landing was faked |

There was a link in any forum where it was shown that some videos on youtube are fake. There was a comparison between the real attack and that one in the video. Cancellara wasn`t that incredibly fast in real. He was made faster in some videos, just for showing that the engine has a bigger influence.
So it`s just a joke for me. Maybe there are engines like this but not in pro cycling yet and probably never when they work against it with scanners...

The UCI planned to control all bikes by using scanner. So they would see all engines. That`s why I meant there is no guture for this kind of "doping".
The problem is that it`s hard to check all bikes. Within timetrials it`s possible because everyone has one bike, maybe a second for crashes...but for normal stages there are several bikes for the whole team. That means you would have to control all start bikes, all finish bikes and all the reserve bikes on the cars. This would be quite expensive. |

What if I take Landis' accusations seriously, but not the thing about mechanical doping? |

Landis`accusations are much more realistic than engines. Almost everything he said was known before. At least I don`t believe that Armstrong`s US Postal Team was totally clean neither is he today. |

I think it's easier to modify a frame an put some batteries in it
Chris Boardman said in an interview that he told the UCI a month ago about this. He was at the UCI and presented how you can pull off one kilowatt of a normal AAA battery. He says that it's pretty simple to modify a frame and to put some battery system in it and to get about hundred watt for 20 minutes, so you could get 40 percent more effort on the pedals. I think as he has his own frame company, that should be taken serious.

If my physics haven't deserted me completely, you could get 1kW from an AAA battery...but I doubt that the battery can take putting out 666A, which would be needed. |

100 watt=40% more effort? cancellara was putting out nigh on 1400 on the Muur

The interview said "a couple of hundred watts", so the 40% isn't that far off if a couple can mean four.
Not that I believe that Cancellara used an engine.

The French TV just showed a programm about this.
It clearly shows they all think Cancelarra cheated, professional ingeniors and cyclists worked to know more about it and it seems very likely...
Their argument is there has not been any changes of the pedaling speed when he accelerated not one.
The only argument for people supporting Cancellara was he is a great cycliste :S

I am still not convinced about the Cancellara case. All he did was out TT a bunch of sprinters for 40kms, how else was he going to win?
And they seem to choose the most deceiving camera angles and play it at x2 when looking at that attack he made. |

That's what I was thinking about when I first saw the images of Cancellara acceleration in Roubaix : if some scientists, or whatever, could just look at Cancellara pedalling and compare it to the acceleration, then it'd show if he cheated or not
PS : Was the video on Stade 2, BouBbox ?
