Wait, you mean the organisers haven't made the course pan-flat for a Cavendish finish?
In seriousness though, it's a shame I won't be able to get to this (largely 'cos I have no one to go with), but also because it will just be so difficult to get there and watch from a decent spot, especially with the Box Hill ticket thing.
Thats not stopping me!
I guess if youre in Aberystwyth, lots of places are hard to get to, but if you can stay somewhere fairly close the night before, it will be easy enough to reach the circuit section by train
And the UCI didnt allow a panflat course, there was an all-London circuit initially planned!

Go to the TT instead, should be an excellent event

It's good to see that the UCI does things right every now and then. It shows that the radio ban wasn't a one-off.

Yeah, that's the disadvantage of living in the butt end of nowhere I may see if I can scrape together a plan though, since it's likely to be my only ever opportunity for such a race.

That's not a half bad idea, actually.

Yeh, the TT is the better spectator option. Not only do they go by one by one, but if you get it right, you might be able to see a rider at the start and end of their course - and theres absolutely no ticketed or restricted areas!

More info about the Box hill loop, looks like spectators will be severely limited:

Gah - maybe no road race at all. Why couldn't they just choose a hill that's not environmentally protected? There's quite a few near there.

I guess they picked the toughest hill, without thinking about consequences. Quite a level of incompetence though, seems like whoever picked the route didnt realise that the hill would be the most sought after spot

In more exciting news, for me anyway, I managed to get free tickets for the finish of the test event through my local authority.

TT isnt a completely flat pancake, but theres nothing at all challenging, yes - they couldnt send that out on a detour to some random hill and still start and finish where they are now.
And I guess you live in the London area then?

Yeah, Kingston, flatness in a TT doesn't bother me really, Cance will probably win no matter where they race.

I just uploaded my pics from the Sydney 2000 Olympics Mens Road Race. I hope they'll be approved soon and made viewable shortly.
Seems like the classic in London went off really well, judging by what I saw of it. |

Box Hill capacity increased from around 3,000 to 15,000. Thats good news, now to wait to see how those tickets will be handed out.

wait you have to pay to watch a free spectator sport, but its free for the TT, I am planning on possibly heading down London ( only 2 hours on a train from Runcorn station) to watch either the Road race or TT. Need to know how much train tickets will cost though.

Box Hill tickets will most likely be free - like they were for the Test Event. Its just their way of limiting the amount of people.
For travel costs, probably best to also bear in mind the cost it will be to get to Hampton Court Palace for the TT, or Box Hill if you plan on going there for the RR. Tickets to London from Runcorn should be fairly cheap if bought well enough in advance. Way too expensive if you buy it too close to the date.
Ill be in London the whole fortnight, so Im definately going to be at the road events.

Last time it was though the local councils for those living on the route or British Cycling.

Cycling Media aswell. Cycling Weekly turned down their allocation due to the stupid limit that was in place then. Now that 5 times as many people will be allowed, I suspect they will accept any allocation offered to them, to then offer up to their readers in some way
