Stage 6: Adelaide - Adelaide
90 km
24/01
Although lots of riders tried to get away it was pretty clear that it was going to be a mass sprint. Attacks were countered one by one by the pack and the escapies never got more than a 2’00” lead.
Impey is perfectly delivered by Rast with behind him the Saxo and Astana trains.
Hondo and Gavazzi get into the lead too early and lose every change of winning.
When Impey gets the lead, Cooke is behind him with O'Grady in his wheel. To the right (out of the picture) Steegmans is delivered by Vaitkus.
Cooke is the first one through the corner before Davis and Steegmans. He is leading a train with O'Grady and Pozzato.
From here O'Grady managed to take the win before Steegmans and Pozzato. With 4 victories he is the winner of the Tour Down Under!!!

This years Vuelta a Mallorca starts with more or less two flat races. Here we can espect men like McEwen, Farrar, O'Grady, Breschel, Galdos and Paolini. However, the descision who wins the Vuelta a Mallorca is most likely exclusively determined by the outcome of the last three hilly stages. The man to beat here will be Rodriguez. However, there are many outsiders for a victory like Basso, Gilbert, Barredo, Vinokourov, Fuglsang, Siutsou, Van Summeren, Kessiakoff, Hesjedal and Hivert.
CHALLENGO VOLTA CICLISTA A MALLORCA
Stage 1: Palma - Palma
120 km
07/02
100 km: Despite this stage is destined to become a mass sprint several riders try to escape from the pack. There is a strong wind and readily the pack breaks in the end and several riders are struggling to get back. A group of eleven has managed to get away and to take a 2’24” lead on the pack. The group consists of Sicard, Macias, Chtroui, Garcia, Karpets, Reynes, Hovelynckx, Brenes, Livramento, Mangel and Broco. They are followed by Cardoso, Bazayev, Viviani, Landa, Ribeiro, Mestre and Sarmiento at 32”.
30 km: The pack is unleashed and with great speed catches the attackers. A mass sprint seems unevitable. However, due to the strong wind and high pace of the pack, a break in the peleton has occurred.
Fischer is the leadout man for Farrar who is in a great position.
Paolini starts the sprint from very far and suprises Farrar.
Paolini wins before Farrar and Finetto. The pack has broken into many pieces and amongst others Hivert, Barredo and Fuglsang (all 1'10", Rodriguez, Basso, Hesjedal, Van Summeren, Vinokourov, Rabon, Siutsou and Chavanel (all 2'19" lose time.

With 5 totally flat stages a lot of mass sprints are expected and of coarse almost all teams have brought a couple of sprinters. Furthermore dealing with the strong winds and especially the opening TTT stage can be severe dealbreakers. This all makes it very difficult to predict who is going to win this years edition of the Tour of Qatar.

Garmin was the team to beat for this TTT, but they got only in 3rd place at 3" behind Caisse d'Epargne.
They took the win.
Katusha became 2nd, also at 3".
AG2R, Bbox Bouygues, Euskaltel, Skil and Liquigas also got decent times on the clock. Saxo, BMC, Astana, Omega Pharma, Sky, Quick Step and Lampre probably lost already too much time in the TTT to be of any influence in the GC. But strange things can happen.

CHALLENGE VOLTA CICLISTA A MALLORCA
Stage 2: Son Servera - Cala Millor
172 km
08/02
140 km: Zaballa is the first one to arrive on top of the Coll des Pinagar. Blanco, Rabon, Rocha, Mancebo, Martinez, Hulsmans, Oliveira, Simon, Mas and Izagirre follow at 19” and the pack at 1’30”.
118 km: Mancebo takes the intermediate sprint in Santanyi before Blanco and Martinez. The eleven leaders have a 3’54” lead on the pack.
115 km: Zaballa also is the first one on top of the Pia de San Josep. He clearly has set his mind on the mountain jersey.
66 km: Rabon takes the intermediate sprint in Porreres. The eleven leaders still have a 4’57” lead on the pack.
24 km: Zaballa also is the first one on top of the Arta. The mountain jersey is for him. The eleven leaders have a still a 2’09” lead on the pack, but it is decreasing fast.
10 km: The lead of the attackers is only 30” on the pack. Oliveira, Hulsmans and Blanco try to get away from the others in order to stay away from the pack and to take the stage. It would buy them a little time but not sufficient to make it to the finish.
All attackers are caught at a small hill about 5 km for the finish. Van Summeren is leading the pack.
O'Grady is leading the sprint before Farrar, Van Avermaet and Breschel. Due to the hill there is no order anymore in any sprint train. Breschel is a little to far behind O'Grady. It is every man for himself now.

TOUR OF QATAR
Stage 2: Khalifa Stadium - Al Khor Corniche
132 km
08/02
77 km: Koren takes the intermediate sprint in Al Jemailiya before Nordhaug, Urtasun, Lucas Haedo, Velo, Soeira, Gnezda, Elijzen, Davis, Bodnar, Sousa, Sutherland, Goesinnen and Bodnar. They have a 2’48” lead on the pack. The leading group never gets really far away from the pack and it is not a surprise that they were caught before the finish.
14 km: Jezowski wins the intermediate sprint in Umm Sumaiya before Galimzyanov and Weylandt.
A very long train is formed consisting of Bbox, Skil Shimano and Lampre riders. Sapa is in an awesome position (3rd).
The sprint seems to go between Rooijakkers and Sapa
But then the Saxo train is making up a lot of ground fast
It is too late. Sapa wins the sprint before Cooke and Turgot. In the very nervous last sections the pack broke and a lot of riders are going to lose time and drop back from the standings.
