Anyone catch that they had Levi Leipheimer racing for Astana in the results page of the Tour of California. They weren't even racing.

Will we finally see an Italian stage winner today? The tifosi are getting pretty impatient. Will Alessandro Petacchi find his top speed again or Tyler Farrar remain almost unbeatable? If the stage does finish in a bunch sprint...
I was browsing past Tour results and found sth interesting

It was the stage when Saxo Bank's Porte, who was in that front group, took back the race lead. After Porte regained the maglia rosa, Wurf shared some accounts of his fellow Tasmanian's early sporting history.
Erm.... Porte was in Pink before? Really? Erm. No cyclingnews, just no.

I stopped reading the race report after these two brilliant lines.
The dreaded Monte Zoncolan hosted a Giro finish for the third time in the race's history with the peloton going up the west side for the first time
the biggest gap the 1:19 between second and third, Evans and Scarponi
In the race report? Seriously?

Say that to one of their inhabitants and they will probably try to kill you. Especially if they are Ajax (Amsterdam) or Feyenoord (Rotterdam) fans. |

Since I'm the guy obsessed with dimensional analysis, it's only fitting...

Basso's strength to weight ratio [for the Zoncolan ascent] was 5.68km/h.

This isn't a CN goof, although it very well could be. The Team Radioshack website has posted a recap of the Dauphine prologue. Here is one paragraph from the report:
Beyond the Finish Line: The town is home of Évian mineral water, which makes up the foundation of the economy together with the Casino d'Evian and the Evian Royal Resort, a holiday favorite. Many of the inhabitants of Évian work in Lausanne and other Swiss cities nearby.
Now for wikipedia's take on Evian-les-Bains:
The town is home of Évian mineral water, which makes up the foundation of the economy together with the Casino d'Evian, the largest themed casino in Europe,[citation needed] and the Evian Royal Resort, favorite holiday destination of former French President François Mitterrand.[citation needed] Many of the inhabitants of Évian work in Lausanne and other Swiss cities nearby.

How awesome is this from today's live report of the Tour de Suisse?
Cyclingnews' Shane Stokes spoke to Oscar Pereiro at the start today. The Caisse d'Epargne rider was "happy with my form and with how things are going. Today's going to be a tough one and a good test of everyone's condition."
The 2006 Tour de France winner will be preparing for this year's July Grand Tour which - in the absence of team leader Alejandro Valverde - could hold some possibilities again for him.
No words for it... Just

p3druh,
He has won it once. It's impossible to do it again? Surely not.
And nowdays in cycling, where ppl don't dope as much as in the 90's, It's very difficult or impossible for one team to control the race for 3 weeks. So I'm sure if Contandor or Armstrong get the maillot jaune early, will let a brakeaway go and get plenty of time. Like in Giro. |
