Ferrari team doctor says Massa hasn't fully recovered from his injuries and indeed will likely never be as fast as he once was. Given bad luck was the only thing keeping him from being world champion in the past, that's a bit depressing for him.
To top it all off, he has a fever and may not race this weekend.
On a lighter note, I was watching the 2009 season review on TV and I LOLed at Brawn talking to Barrichello on the radio at the end of a race:
- "Rubens you are on fire. Now park the car safely"
- "Yeah I had the speed but I was stuck behind Rosberg"
- "No, Rubens your car is literally on fire. Stop NOW"

Very nice to see
Should be an interesting race. The tyres and fuel differences between the two cars mean that the Red Bull is faster than the Ferrari in qualifying and at the start, but as the race goes on the RB gets slower and slower and the Ferrari gets faster and faster. The question then becomes how much slower and how much faster?
Which should guarantee an interesting race.
Too bad McLaren and Mercedes aren't sufficiently up there to make it even more interesting.
Also interesting to see that in each team, one driver beat his teammate by quite a big margin.

Shame about the graphics in qualifying, its very hard to watch without the bars in the top left indicating the positions of the drivers. Hopefully FOM sort their graphics out sooner rather than later - that wasnt the only poor new addition/removal.

It's great to see Massa back, and I'm hoping he beats Alonso in the race too.

I was so annoyed by that. Why on earth did they remove it? Do they not want people to know what's going on? I missed the whole second session registering for the F1 live timing and trying to get it to work, but that failed me too. I cannot understand how getting rid of that could possibly be a good idea. |

Thankfully they've done away with the ridiculous 10 position grid penalty for changing engine.

Well, they have and they havent.
Each driver gets 8 engines for the whole season - each extra engine he has to use after that will bring a 10 place grid penalty. So its somewhat disastrous for Ferrari to be down to 7 before even the 1st race - as it seems Alonso has also been forced to make the change

Yeah, I know about the rule change. But it's not nearly as disastrous, as they can still use these engines in practice and qualifying.
They just have to use others for the race.

FML why does it seem like all of the exciting and risky drivers leave the sport. They are always my favourite but then when they start getting respect in the feild/grid (didn]t know what to call it) they leave. |

Was Raikkonen exciting last year though? He just seemed like he had got bored of F1.
And speaking of boring, today's race was dull.

Yep, the race was very unexciting. I hope not all races this season will be like today's.

Boring race. No overtaking without someone having problems (Vettel).
Other than at the start, but that happens every year, so it was predictable. Bahrain is a track full of sand, so the guys who start on the clean side of the grid (Alonso, Vettel, etc.) of course always overtake the guys unfortunate enough to have to start on the dirty side of the grid(Massa, Hamilton, etc.). And that's what happened this year, too, of course.
Massa had engine troubles and because of that was ordered to lift off and save the engine for most of the race, so to be that close at the end was a brilliant drive. And the list of lap times before he was told to save the engine quite shows that. Fastest guy on track. In his first race after the injury, that's amazing. Although I'm thinking that's going to be his 2nd engine to blow up this season, because it was making a ghastly noise for most of the race.
Let's hope Mercedes and McLaren get their cars sorted quickly so they can compete too. They weren't THAT much slower today.
And Kudos Kubica. Excellent drive from the back.
Methinks no refuelling will prove to be a massive mistake. It's taken even more excitement away from the race.
Webber, Massa and Hamilton were faster than respectively Button, Alonso and Rosberg. And still, they couldn't overtake. Boring.
On a slightly different note, I have to admit I did laugh at the snippet of conversation between Massa and Hamilton that the TV crew picked up before the podium ceremony:

I`ll remember to watch when I get back from my trip as I taped it on my PVR. Probably just skip thru most of it as Bahrain is a boring track. But its the first race of the year so I gotta watch it. |

Actually it's by far the track that facilitates the most overtaking.
Monaco and Hungaroring are boring. Singapore is boring. Valencia street is boring.
